Nullist, much better players than you have already repeatedly pointed out to you that comparing the 4 vs 6 member MG team's "survivability" in a vacuum is not meaningful. They have repeatedly said "in a real game setting" it is not a meaningful difference in the context of the two factions. The devs are well aware of the statistical differences - what they want is feedback from actually using the units in games to see how these numbers play out real time. Repeating your same old boring whines in every thread will just lead to more and more people, including the devs, to learn to ignore you. How the MG42 is faring with suppression and how it needs to be used differently after the patch in actual games is a good topic. Have you actually used one in a game with the new patch yet? Have you used a Maxim in a game with the new patch yet?

If it's any consolation, last night I flanked and killed an MG42, stole it, and used it to pin a squad of PGs. I think it took 3 bursts, but I honestly wasn't counting.

So much better for so many reasons post-patch. In particular, MGs in buildings are now good but not kiss-of-death insta-pin, massive area deniers and unapproachable with the bulletin.

I feel like the suppression might use a small buff, though I think we've also got to wait for people to start using them properly again to see if it's effective enough, but it's better to work up to a good level from here than the previously game-wrecking MG-42. Right now I feel an MG really needs a screening and spotting unit, which is a really nice change. I think MG micro should be back a bit, in that the target switching has been made slower.

As an Ostheer player, I can no longer rely on setting up once I've seen a unit with an unsupported MG, which is a big improvement. As a Soviet, I can deal with MGs in buildings without needing a clown car, can take a burst at long range and backpedal, can flank before molotovs arrive if the Ostheer player messes up. Just a huge improvement onthe early game.

The bigger difference for me hasn't so much been games against relatively good players but rather games against MG spammers, which were previously infuriating but are now very easy to punish an MG spammer by outplaying them, flanking etc, which wasn't the case pre-patch, and sitting an MG by itself is no longer the massive area denial tool it was pre-patch either.

I used the MG42 in a lot of games yesterday and it did some good work. You just have to be more careful with them now. I think the changes were pretty good. The machine gun feels more like COH1 now where infantry are the main fighters and support weapons are just that... support.

I'm pretty sure the game will be more interesting as a result of this patch.

Cut the guy some slack. Nullist has played 1 ("ONE") game with soviets since coh2 launch or even closed beta, so how do you expect him to understand how soviet units work in-game...

I got a general feeling in this post that the MG42 is fine the way it is but we will see.

I can finally start playing Ostheer and not feel dirty.

I take it back. It's a massive overnerf. I just played a game, swarms of conscripts completely ignoring the mg42s, walking through arcs of fire, chucking molotovs everywhere, then transition into unhittable T-70 and then f everything.

mg42 is worthless now as a support weapon. Even with gren support, and firing from max range, a squad of conscripts despite under fire from the 42 with the Usain bolt oorah were able to avoid being supressed (forget pinning), managed to get behind the 42 and decrew in seconds with molotov.

Maxim mean time has almost same supression , better DPS , WAY faster setup/packup time and 6 men squads.

Good job Relic, the russian whiners moaned so much that mg42 is now opposite of what it was ... useless.

I bet next unit we will see nerfed is Elephant because its too cheap and hampers the very hard skill su85 strategy ....

The problem with the new MG42 is that it essentially performs like a Maxim with a bigger arc but no spearhead capability due to long set up times. Many times my conscripts actually lose a squad member before being even suppressed (the yellow icon); that's a lot of time for me to oorah in and molotov. Honestly, I prefer the Maxim than the MG42 now.

I play both factions, like any CoH player who is worth his salt should across all modes of the game. 1v1's to 4v4's with my small CoH clan. Here is my ladder profile. http://www.coh2.org/ladders/playercard/steamid/76561198005614497

This patch is brilliant. It is what the game needed.

Many of my clan mates were becoming frustrated and mad with their games, and noone enjoyed playing germans as there was a consensus that it was too easy to win. In team games, it was harder to flank out and often the germans were able to devastate our conscripts with mg42's. Even when we played as germans, games felt too easy, making very hard and savage early game plays was easy as germans and really they should be feeling the pressure in the early game from an aggressive soviet player. It was too easy for germans to lock down large sections of the map with a single unsupported MG team.

Gentleman, you may have your opinions of the game and this patch. But please support relic in this direction. I have the benefit of watching a small clan of players reactions, not just my own and we were barely playing in august and early september due to the disgusting state of the game. The game just wasn't fun and 42's suppressing in a single burst was degenerate and frustrating. It was so encouraging to hear one of my friends say, "Hey you were right comrade, this is really great now, i'm so glad I can play coh again". And then we even played a 4v4 as the germans and didn't feel like we were playing easy mode. It was wonderful.

Even seeing some tigers and is2's hitting the field =]. I have played CoH1 since 2006, I have played CoH2 since beta, and I think this patch is some of the best balance yet. A large part of this is the MG42 change.

Adapt,things are balanced now,so no more instant pin for you...Hint:Use the new Grenadiers,they are pretty decent,don't spearhead with MG42 anymore

On a serious note,try using something else except MG spam kid,it was inevitable and unbalanced
