A far eastern red army could be the allied equivalent of an OKW- an elite army made up of veterans and superior tanks (IS-3, anyone?)

The IS-3 never saw any combat in WW2, they arrived too late to do anything but participate in the victory parades.

Actually, it was deployed in the far east and have seen combat, just after Berlin was conquered.

IS-3 was used against Japan. But Japan had nothing to stop the IS-3. Would be very one sided to see IS-3 stomping the IJA.

In the movie "My Way" they show Japanese driving suicide trucks into soviet tanks.

I have no idea though if that was actually a thing, or made up for the movie.

Would be kinda fun though.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_invasion_of_Manchuria

soviet losses: 9,726
Japanese losses: 83,737

This battle was very one sided. Not really interesting enough for a game.

You forgot: 640,276 Japanese POWs. that is part of war, too..

Actually I have seen other sources put the figure at close to 1 million. the Japanese Kwangtung armies surrendered to the Soviets.

The comments in the video suggest the movie was actually about the conflicts in 1938 and 1939.

Obviously from the large amounts of light tanks armed with dp's, and the lack of t34's.

it's a korean movie... so i think it's safe to say the movie is very stylised(to say it nicely) and probably never happened like that....

Oh no doubt, that movie while really entertaining, wasnt the most realistic thing ever; but since it also featured the D-Day Landing and the Battle for Stalin Grad, and atleast tried to be authentic there ( on the level of Saving Privat Ryan and Enemy at the Gates ) I asumed this third battle scene to be about the same level of believability. If not more since Koreans were actually fighting there.

Why do people never like the Chinese? they had a u huge impact on the Asian front

Are you joking? They are even inferior to IJA, almost no tanks, no airforce, just lots of young teenagers can't even have enough guns and grenade fighting the Japs and forced to use swords.

The most elite (and of course small) Chinese force in WW2 are basically a Chinese army in German uniforms and weapons, with Kar98, MG34, 222 or even Panzer I & II, the Chinese learnt a lot from the Germans, trained under Wehrmarct officer and their relations with Nazi were friendly. They also bought some Soviet and Brits armour. After the US joined in the Pacific theater, they got some US weapons like Sherman.

If this army exist in COH, it is just a big mixture of all forces.

A bit offtopic, but 84k losses figure for the Japanese is from Soviet sources :P

IIRC, Glantz gives a figure of about 20k casualties suffered by the Japanese in that conflict in his book "The Soviet Strategic Offensive in Manchuria, 1945". Though, it only includes Japanese military casualties and excludes Manchukuoan (sp?), civilian etc. casualties.

Wait the D-Day landing wasn't authentic at all. It was very, very far from authentic.
