Can't even answer a basic question...

You can just see for yourself https://coh3stats.com/players/5469/Katitoff

But ye, definitely not a very active player. He plays like one match every two days

I think coh3 is the best coh yet and far superior than coh2.

well that's easy really, in terms of actual product its vastly improved over coh2 hands down. The faction structure IMO is better which isn't surprising since a lot of it comes from coh1 but a lot of the dynamic and quality life improvements of coh 2.

Personally i think it looks far superior than coh2 simply because i love the colorful meditrian look than the Soviet/Russian grey of the eastern front, yes i'm aware its intentinal for the front, however i still prefer it.

Does it have its issues? Sure but what rts doesn't need a couple of patches.

What keeps me from Coh3? Three things.

1) Being banned. Kind of a gimme.

2) The community. The plebs who play RTS are simpletons. This game is finally in a BETA state 14 months after release. Instead of players saying "This is unacceptable", Relic just adjusts the balance a little and the plebs are all excited. We just went 4 months between patches and all we got was some balance changes and people are clamoring its the greatest game ever. These lemmings are the reason I will NEVER like Coh3.

3). Relic. Before this game was even announced I was seeing cracks in the Relic-is-competent armor. I was already losing cohpium. Then that alpha state trash was released and all of my fears were fully realized. Then came the lack of communication Relic is known for. Then the slow crawl of updates. I have said since 2017 someone in Relic Management needs to be fired so badly it is insane. And I stand by that statement. The company is run so bad it is indefensible. Sega is gone and they still cant get their shit together. A complete joke and a waste of anyone's time waiting for them. Move on.

The tangibles for me to like Coh3 are a small list that The Quban (Q Mode) had fixed a month after release. And these things are still not done by Relic.

Just like I said, good people like Gabby and Tarnation are gone because Relics lack of competency at the top. I could name more but then I would get banned even more???

Oh and Katitof. I can never like Coh3 because of Him/Her. j/k

It's not in bad state now. It feels better than a Beta.
As for the people who are raving about it, they're mostly 4v4 Axis fans and their appreciation for the game has more to do with the 68% win rate versus USF in 4v4 than it does with the actual state of the game. It hasn't stopped them from requesting additional, urgently needed nerfs for USF.

This game is only partially functioning. UI is missing important elements. Menu system is trash. And what did the idiots ask for????? Leaver Penalties.

Why ask for a functioning game when you could ask for a mechanic that will drive away an already dwindling player base? How many top players are going to sit thru a trash game when their partner is a noob or even when the enemies are noobs? BORING AS F**K games. Now you have people going AFK in games. Which is even worse than leaving. And those people will be banned soon, making the player base even smaller.

This is one of my biggest complaints right now. I played a couple games as USF yesterday. In the first one, two of my teammates spammed the Aussie infantry. One of them also got mortars. We were playing against a primarily DAK team on Steppes (COH3 remake) so you can guess about how much damage the mortars were doing. I tried surrendering a couple times but the people that make those choices also don't realize when they've lost.

The next game, one of the opposing team quit at the start. It should've been an easy game. However, two of the players on our team were so passive that they did the same damage as the opposing computer so I spent about 30 minutes getting pummeled by two players while seeing a couple large armies on my team just sitting half-way between the base and the center VP.

In Relic's opinion, the fair solution to the above situations is to give me a timeout for leaving.

I think infantry combat is vastly inferior to CoH2. In most other respects I like CoH3 more: proper tech trees rather than linear snoozefest tech, build variety, weaker AT guns, camera zoom level, less cartoony graphics, more consistent AoE damage, CoH1 style doctrines etc.

But the problem is that infantry combat is perhaps the most important aspect of CoH gameplay to me, so despite all these things CoH3 still feels lackluster.

Less cartoony graphics???

WTF.

The worst change from Coh2 is the excessive use of bright colours and bloated unit icons.

Coh1 and 2 were visual spectacles, full of life and atmosphere.

Coh3 is borderline anime, dull and sterile. Animations are also laughable compared to previous titles.

The balance and the setting. I really don’t see a benefit on the Italian front.

Revival of the setting from CoH1 or CoH2 and I would be happy. Too bad they dropped Theaters of War.

Missing features from the older game like a good soundtrack, voice lines…

What keeps me from enjoying Coh3? Watching Relic fail over and over again like watching a parkinsons patient playing Jenga. You can do it Ethel, steady ... steady... Ohhhhh good try Ethel. Good try.

To this date, still haven't gotten CoH3.
It just doesn't look as interesting. Infantry doesn't die as long as you retreat it and vehicles also take a lot of shots. Both these make the gameplay better, but it just does not have the wow factor if knowing that something cool is happening on the screen right now.
Otherwise, animations and sounds are overall subpar, adding to the same problem.

Nothing, CoH3 is better than 2 now. I'd rather 4 good, varied battlegroups per faction, than 50 but many overlap and many are non viable.

Imagine all of the cool things Coh3 would have if it was built off of Coh2.

What could have been:
1) It could have a fancy ping viewer to let you know why you are lagging.

2) It could have alternate voice line options. Like select funny or ridiculous lines.

3) It could have native language voice lines.

4) It could have a Terrain UI alpha blending toggle to turn down the obnoxious terrain colors.

5) It could have Fortnite style taunts so you can tea bag the enemies in an MP match. You could have soldiers yell stuff at a sniper.

6) It could have built in CELO menu option.

7) It could have an option to turn off or set alpha on the stupid unit ability icons covering the screen.

8) It could have intelligent ping system with recon, attack here, I have arty, etc etc

9) It could have Multiple sound stages. Washed out like it is now or tight like Coh2.

10) Black listed players. So you dont have to play with the toxic/bad person you just played with.

etc etc etc etc etc etc

If I was in charge of Coh3 it would have shipped with 100 new features. Instead we got a game with LESS features. Ooooo how exciting! A half assed game thats not even half as good as the original! Look they put in minimal effort, lets praise them!

I cant even look at Coh3. All I see is failure. Complete and utter failure. We can sit and say its because it shipped early, but some of the things I just mentioned would have taken literally minutes to add to the game. They were never even a thought. Zero vision at Relic.

This game had zero chance of expanding its player base because Relic does not play it. Every person who plays this game clocks 1000's of hours. I guarantee Relic employees avg time is like 24 hours of Coh. Every streamer plays other games then comes back to Coh in less than a week. It is that good of a game. Super high replay ability.

Coh3 should have increased the player count 4-10x over Coh2. Instead it is half. Because people feel like they are dating their sister instead of a super model.

There is nothing for me to enjoy about Coh3. A much better post question would have been what is good about Coh3. Because the answers would be much shorter. Because I feel like I had a 2019 BMW and my parents said I was getting a great new car for Xmas and they brought me a beat up Yugo from the 80's. Just gutted at how far off the mark Coh3 is.

Now imagine all the impossible to change due to hard coding BS it would have, like no real side armor and hard coded mechanics that are impossible to change and tweak.

Played the DAK campaign a little. I've got to say the game feels alright, even some of the animations that look kind of bad are not as noticeable when playing yourself, sound and overall "ooomph" are okay to good.

I've got to say though that the DAK campaign is about the worst campaign I have played in a strategy game recently. I've managed to play to mission three, and starting the third one already was some good will towards the game.
The whole narrative setup fails. I don't know these people they're trying to get me emotional about. The whole setup is quite bad. It's not even educational because there is relatively little content in the intro and outro. Voice acting of Rommel is a bit too over the top. On the other hand, the voice acting of the guy in the British army is straight up horrible. He literally sounds like reading the text from a book at the level of elementary class. Monotonous, and at the end of the sentence lower the voice. Every. Single. Damn. Sentence. Regardless of context. The missions themselves are, well... okay? Nothing special, no big ourah. Which is fine, but clashes with Rommel's over the top acting. The standard "go here and destroy X". Not interesting, but would be okay if the story was told well.

Why is there no map of North Africa where I can see where the mission takes place? How the DAK advances through the desert? At least make a list of missions within the DAK campaign menu where I can properly restart a single mission and don't hide it in the the lazy looking mission list together with a lot of other missions from the Italy campaign.

In CoH2's campaign I could identify with the main protagonist, see where he is coming from with his disgust about the Soviet leadership while I "relived" his story and battles. It was a good campaign with even film like elements. CoH3's DAK campaign is quite a disappointment.

...

The game is getting close to decent. But from reading reviews, the Campaign is the weakest link in the play modes.

Personally, I think skirmish is in the best place. Relic put out a video series on skirmishing. So that is awesome. I have not seen them yet. But that was a great idea.

I have never played a campaign for 1,2, or 3. So I would not know good from bad. So its good to hear from someone we can trust.

Indeed. Gameplay seems to be quite solid from the two skirmish matches I played against AI. People will get their boom and explosions. I can only imagine that the MP will also be solid, but others are more knowledgeable to comment on that. In the alpha builds before release I also got dizzy and it was straining to look at. That's all fixed now. The 30 bucks are a good price at the current sale, and you can get it even cheaper on external reputable sites. I'll still hold off for now, not because CoH3 were a bad game, but because I've recently bought another strategy game and I'm currently into playing that one instead. I am pretty convinced now that I'll get CoH3 sometime later, it's good. Not blowing me away, but just an overall decently made game with some rough edges and some good designs. At least as long as you're not buying it for the campaign :)

Having just tried it again for the first time since the betas - it's the off map abilities that ruin it for me. The radius, frequency, duration and amount of "skill plane" type abilities is absurd. The vast majority of off-maps would need to be reworked to be much more precise and manually targeted for me to actually enjoy the game - think CoH2 OST fragmentation bombs.

I play the CoH series because of the interesting tactics and strategies you can use with individual or small groups of units, not because I can press a button to delete a quarter of the map. As-is, the game is pretty enjoyable when no one uses off-maps, but becomes exhausting when they're heavily used - which is unfortunately most matches.

There's definitely other issues - units being too "spam" friendly, forward ambulances, vehicle pathing (especially clicking directly behind them forcing a 180), most things lacking visual 'punch' (FX/projectiles are still too slow). However, fixing those would be largely irrelevant to me if the off-maps aren't changed.

edit: After playing a bit more, I think the generally "spammability" and "blobbing" might actually be worse than the off-maps. There just aren't enough tools to effectively punish blobs, at least until late game.

Offmaps in coh3 are a bit overtuned imo. Was hoping for exactly what you describe for offmaps in coh3 and instead we got more auto-targeting abilities
