This could also be a buff, in a good way of course. Stuka is only useless in narrow maps and against players who don't have enough micro capacity to move their units when they hear the sound of barrage. In open maps, it's useless.
did you mean "useful"? And sadly for many other units that rely on quickness, not every map allows you to exploit maneuverability or flanking, making lighter tanks substantially less potent. In the stuka's case, a creeping barrage isn't as good on an open map. I hate how it wipes retreating units and blows up crewed weapons. |
This is game balance. Relic balances with data and to get data you need time, but to find the bounds you need to go to extremes (sledgehammer-like). A good amount of time as people adapt and the new meta stabilises. If they did a lot of changes over a short time, then there will be a lot of back and forth since real trends have not stabilised.
Gradual in your perspective is a linear search. UP? OK. Buff one little thing at a time until OP? The iterative software development process is not a good analogy because generally the gradual changes are all in the right direction; in balance, you buff one thing, it affects other things, and suddenly buffing wasn't the right move so you may have to roll back if you didn't allow enough time to stabilise.
They make too many drastic changes in one fell swoop. They are notorious for this.
No, not buff one little thing at a time until OP. Buff or nerf something in small increments, then run numbers and adjust accordingly. Instead, they'll nerf something in 3 different ways across the board so that it's useless and nobody will use it, release more commanders with ridiculously overpowered shit in it, etc.
They constantly pollute the ecosystem of the game by making radical changes, whether they be commanders or factions. (and my opinion which everyone may not share is that they sell ridiculous new commanders for easy money). How can you ever achieve balance this way? You are frankly defending something on the wrong side of history. They are not good at balance, they never have been. |
Calm your tits, Northweapon. It's only been a few days since patch release. What you point out are "noise" spikes and it occurs often (look at financial data) depending on various factors.
OKW may be overperforming, but please wait for more data to draw more solid conclusions. If it is so, then Relic will look at the data, and tone down OKW. This has been the biggest change to OKW since release of WFA so of course there are going to be some kinks.
My theory is Relic does binary search balancing. They will find the extremes of UP and OP and find middle ground and go from there to iterate. This is unfortunately at the OP phase. I have evidence to support this. However I don't think Relic will overtly admit this, though they probably know it's on the OP side.
middle ground? they balance with a freaking sledgehammer. iterative means gradual changes over a relatively frequent timespan, from my POV as a software developer. they just take things, smash the shit out of them, and then leave them to fester for a few months. eventually, they'll release more doctrines, forget about the broken shit and just compound existing problems.

peace of mind is a good enough reason for a soldier to do something. I also am fairly certain that anything like sandbags or wood would at least stop some ricocheting from smaller caliber fire and interfere somewhat with the HEAT warhead. war is a clusterfuck, do what you can. |
Haven't posted in a while, felt like I had to chime in on this.
The Sexton is undoubtedly awful, and maybe bugged. It is easily worse than the Priest. The priest at least has the mounted .50 cal and I've seen priests kill things on direct hits and do adequate splash damage. I too have witnessed direct hits with the sexton do virtually nothing.
The entire doctrine is terrible and doctrines like these that are so bad should be fixed before any new commanders are added.
A doctrine that no one uses may as well not exist, therefore fixing such a doctrine adds as much value as releasing a new, decent doctrine. This is true, except that Relic can't sell the doctrine it fixes again.
Edit: sexton gets creeping barrage with vet, which sounds cool, but again its range is so bad and damage laughable that I'm not sure I care. Creeping Barrage in COH1 was pretty freakin cool. |
Company need our money, so they release new Single stuff for noobs, compstompers etc (like AA) just to get money, chance for CoH2 becoming an #esports is 0% (well, maybe a little more since PQ left) so relic must relize that their game has really good potential for great game but they fail cuz they prefer to release stuff for $$$.
Game will die in 1 or 2 years if they keep doing this
PQ left? How do you know that?
I agree that this game is on its deathbed. Haven't touched it in a month or so, maybe more. The chances of it getting a stable MP playerbase are tiny at this point. The ship has sailed. |
I can go on about okw faction design that that lacks a non doctrinal suppression uni and so on the bottom line is okw has hard time defending caps if they split up they get cut down.. I play all factions I can tell you that it isn't game breaking for me there are ways to adapt.
Oh really? I didn't know the kubelwagen wasn't a suppression unit. thanks |
Why does Flak HQ reliably penetrate allied medium?
PQ- "Why shouldnt it?"
Did he really say that? If true...what an *expletive*
Gee Peter, why shouldn't a 37mm flak cannon forward base building destroy everything and then even damage the heaviest non-doctrinal tanks from THE FRONT?
Not only is it illogical (but what's the point in mentioning that, since this game throws logic and history out the window whenever it can) but it also damages the game by reinforcing the heavy-tank callin dependency that is hurting this game. What do we know anyway? We're just players who care and analyze a game we like(d), and they're the "masterminds" behind the dying game.
This company is so damned amateur sometimes. |
The lack of side armour is truly mind boggling. In a game where they waste precious cycles simulating blizzards that people hate, they neglect basic principles of armoured engagement.
Absolutely agreed. Said it in beta, deserves to be said again and again and again, until it finally gets driven into Relic's head. |
Wonder why Pack Howie, DoucheGun and Stuart got exclueded...definietly they are underperforming.
Yeah, seriously.
The M21 IS SO AWFUL. If I see an ally building them I know that we have a 95% chance of losing the game because of simply how dumb or inexperienced he is. |
