That does seem like the simplest solution. Reduce t3 and t4 back to 90 fuel each, and in both buildings have a 50 fuel building upgrade that unlocks the t34, and a 50 fuel upgrade that unlocks the cat and the su85 together.
Su-76 needs a little make over, no one would still build it and instead just skip to the 50 fuel upgrade. |
... Whut. Company of Designing? |
A light tank and a medium tank with the same roles and a 30 fuel 120(?) gap... Currently, everyone would go make t34's straight away, because as you said Germans already have the PIV out. The T70 was mainly made to play in the mid game before late game medium tanks comes out to harass the light armor before real German AT rolls out. This situation only happens within soviet t3, so it doesnt really belong in t3 anymore if you can get a tougher alternative at the same time for a little more. I hope the armor patch fixes all soviet tanks so they are in viable locations in t3 and t4, and useful in the game. (Currently Su-76m is on the list of rarity, and t-70 just landed on that list as well. A switcheroo in tiers with those two and changes to the su-76 seem like one way to fix their purposes.) |
The fact we have people talking about it is good. Hopefully this gets noticed.
My biggest issue is survivability.
Correction, THE biggest issue is survivability. That is a fact. 600 MP cannot die any easier, especially when one click of a call in can wipe it out, gun and all. I don't mind frequent decrewings, but all static emplacements need to survive much longer. |
It's sad. I really like howitzer game play. There is just something so satisfying of keeping one of the arty pieces alive all game. Until there are hard counters that can take out off map abilities they will continue just being a high risk low reward unit.
All static enplacements need a 250% health bonus. They always get accidentally destroyed when the enemy tries to capture them. Currently, they blow in 3 t34 shots, dying more than being decrewed. |
Lel, you think the soviet player lets me repair my ultra heavy tank after being rammed?
I know ram fails sometimes, but when it penetrates, and even more, a HEAVY call-in, its usually game over.
#Katitof, sometimes, my friend, RAM annimation is faster than faust one and when theres multiple T34, its nearly imposible to stop them all.
You forget that sometimes the soviet loses more than you lose when he attempts to ram. At the least, one t34 will lose. Sometimes even 3 will be lost for one Tiger. And for panthers... ram and pray.
That is why no one likes using ram. All RNG. |
I abstained, i do not know what to say. I always found a medium that is doctrinal pretty peculiar, but i dont think anything can be done about it at the moment. |
If you want to model this in the game, the German & axis allies would start out with"
an elaborate, pre-established defense network with quick response mobile armored reserves in the rear..(with weeks or months of preparation) with killzones, communications systems, & tactical countermeasures set up... with minefields, traps......with troops intimately familiar with the territory from studying it for weeks/months.... while the Soviet would be the numerically superior attackers attacking territory they only know via military intelligence, recon and probing.
Not Happening.
I do credit the Soviet Union for their effective offensive push, even if it looks like i dont. But as you say, as i thought i said, that re-enactment sure aint happening/going to happen in this game. I am just hoping the upcoming patch makes balance between both factions. I keep dreaming that there was no such thing as OP units, insta kills, blob spams, and there were 50/50 wins with both factions and 50/50 people searching games with both factions. It's driving me crazy.
That numerical superiority in Soviet defense is going to be widely seen when the Battle of Kursk comes out. That battle is a huge example of what you were talking about. The defenses there made the past defense at Moscow look like nothing. |
How does a T70 not own this strat? I mean if someone sticks directly to that Pio > Tiger build, and any point provides fuel like it does in CoH2, it seems like even if you are way behind you could still manage to get a T70 out several minutes before he has enough CP for the Tiger (which should come around the 18 minute mark). Nothing other than a teller mine would be able to scratch it.
I took it as a joke. I hope Soviet tiers 3 and 4 are somewhat reworked, as well as some changes to the units in them. (SU-76 better not be forgotten) |
Its balance around abilities. With Mark Vehicle thats 120 dmg 93 Pen 2.2 second reload. This is why they left the SU76 in its sorry state for so long.
They work good against P4s and ill use them fairly regular. I actually like the little guys. Until T4 rolls out or a Tiger. And they cant hit scout cars for crap if they are moving I really really resent that.
Mark target is not the reason why it sucks. The attempt to make it a jack of all trades for a cheap price screwed it up. You might as well use mark target for T-70's to kill a Panzer IV.
The thing does not scale really well, and it somewhat does something against T3. The point is to make it available (convenient) and reliable against T3, while keeping German T3 the ability to kill it fairly well. The SU-76 would be the AT against T3, and the Su-85 will be the more effective T4/heavy counter. Every Soviet unit should have a place somewhere in combat. Currently, some units are too iffy to use, such as conscripts, and the SU-76 has been sitting in the corner for far too long. It did its job fairly well in the war, and it should have a role in the game as well. It was excellent light artillery, and it was able to fire AP rounds at tanks if need be. This sort of utility should be a shining quality in the SU-76, not the current lackluster it is right now. |
