It didnt, or to be precise it has been resurected. Check out this site: http://www.faforever.com/ community is still quite active there and game ballance, mods, maps and AI are still being developed by community. It is going less and less popular sadly but its definitely not dead. And yeah, it is also my favourite game after coh2 and maybe coh.
I understand that you have a habit of asking people to reveal their playercards. This is why I am not taking offense at your request.
However, if you want to be constructive, you also need to understand that you need to shoot the message; not the messenger.
The message I delivered contained 2 facts and 1 piece of personal opinion.
The OBJECTIVE FACTS are:
1) The Panzerwerfer currently performs orders of magnitude BETTER at clearing garrisons than any other unit in the game (range + cost + reaction time)
2) The old Panzerwerfer was on par with the current Katyusha. If the Panzerwerfer received a buf to its raw damage, shouldn't the Katyusha (and all other artillery) also receive a similar buff?
My PERSONAL SUBJECTIVE OPINION about how to resolve this imbalance:
3) The Panzerwerfer and the Katyusha should both perform at a level near the current Katyusha.
Now, if you can shoot down any of the two facts I presented, we can have an interesting conversation about our own SUBJECTIVE opinions.
I agree it needs a nerf but definitely not to the point it was at. Truth is that it was unusable before and if you find any posts from the time you will see that players thought about it as worst artillery unit in game. This was due to huge scatter, low AoE and prohibitive tech cost, with the latter one getting even higher during the process. Some even thought about removing that useless unit. That is why it took so much time for players to realise how good it is now. If it was to be nerfed to that levels it's tier should be changed to t3. Otherwise it can get only slight nerfs along all stats or cost increase.
This game already went in bad direction countless times becouse of community whining. I would be glad if they stopped reading ballance forums, the game becomes more and more shallow every time they listen to us sadly.
In 4v4. Enemy has say a few mgs an elephant, 2 panzas, arty, infantry. With other factions i would turn to arty, weaken them then attack. However brits have no good arty with out doctrines but even then most of its not great. The elephant out matches or atleast greatly out healths all my tanks and AT. Infentry cant get close because of mgs and morotrs.
How on earth do i get through with no arty. How do i brake the stale mate. Every time my team would lose due to there arty and us having none as brits (or dumb ally has none as different faction)
The easiest solution would be dropping bomb strike from commandos commander on enemy positions or slightly behind them. Then when opponents regroup to avoid bombs attack from sides. Something similar on smaller scale can be acheived with railway artillery or tornado loiter from other commanders. Its important to coordinate artillery/planes with attack. If other teammates also have some offmap artillery it is good to use them in different parts of enemy forces at once, in many cases opponents will be able to dodge only one of them.
If for some reason you dont want to use commander abilities ukf gives you some of the most powerfull breakthrough weapons. Use churchills for the first wave of attack, they are potent in disabling at guns and mgs and can give you very thick smoke screen. Then, depending on the scale of fight and number of british allies, use comets or crommwell to keep the advantage, kill enemy tanks and drive behing their lines. Never send mediums before heavies, you are going to loose them that way. Always remember to attack one, chosen point in defencive line and attack from as many directions as possible at the same time. The rest is up to micro and coordination with teammates.
Its true that this feature looks unrealistic. The reason why its needed is that tank machine guns are very underpowered in coh2. I mean without a crush most tanks cant do much against infantry becouse their machinguns deal less damage than lmgs. If it was ment to be more realistic tanks should kite infantry snares with mgs instead of running through the formation but that needs tank mgs to melt infantry like real hmg (without suppression).
You can use the OLD HUD, to avoid switching sides when selecting units, (Ctrl + Right Arrow key, i think) but the Old HUD shows only 1 players resources and units, so its kinda limiting...
Wait, as far as I remember using that old hud it had a button that showed and hide resources of all players and it had units of 2 players at the top. They changed something? I cant check it right now as I'm on Intel HD powered laptop
When I talk to my buddy regarding replays I tell him the clock and where on the map. That has worked sufficiently.
My biggest gripe remains no possibility to rewind. I wonder why that's not possible.
Rewinding would be very costly to implement. I'm pretty sure that all functions that change the state of game are one-directional right now, it would require writing complementary functions that work in another direction and it is sometimes pretty hard thing to do, even in turn based games. Here it would be much, much worse.
What they can do though is copying whole state of game every 10 seconds when you watch the replay and store it for example for 3 minutes. Or preferably there should be setting on how many saves you want to store and setting that turns the feature off. That way they can make the "instant replay" feature. Only problem is that it would probably take lots of ram but there is no better solution imo.
You should add and specify that allied crates are much harder to steal once dropped and that in all game modes manpower is the most crucial resource, not munitions. 200 manpower is one squad less, just like a wipe. For example in 1v1 that may mean you loose by using this ability.
Pls dont copy-paste fausts into them, its stupid and lazy design that limits number of viable strategies, flattening the game. If someone wants fausts he can always play wehrmacht, right?
