What's the point? Mods keep getting broken by the game's updates.
And Relic is probably never going to touch balance again. Last update was like what, more than 3 months ago?
They'll just invest more and more time in DoW III and forget about this game.
The cow is milked. They just need to pull support already by giving us the final modding tools and that's it.
I feel you are right but 3 months without a patch is no proof, we had longer no patch periods in the past. |
Honestly? Sorry to say that but the best tip is: don't use it in 1v1. It was designed to work in team games and there is really not much you can get from it in 1v1. |
I don't understand why there aren't more narrow but wide maps in the pool. There's no tactical advantage or gameplay reason to keep scaling up both dimensions of the map, it just makes retreats take longer and waste time. And Redball is bad, breaking the map into narrow lanes with no interaction with one-another for flanking was just asking for MG lockdowns.
I wouldn't say there is no interraction now that we have mortar meta in the early game and rocket artillery meta in the late game. Mg lockdowns are out of question for just about same reason.
It's true though that map that has one additional horizontal lane of strategic points just to make retreat longer is stupid. |
Does it seem to anyone else that since the brits dropped, brit maps come up like 3x as much as normal? I swear 50% of my matches end up on Port of Hamburg, and I hate that map so much now. Same with Redball, which came with the brits too, I think. Did they tweak the map selection to favor newer maps over old ones?
Port of hamburg? Honestly I haven't rolled this map yet. And I usually play with no vetos in team games. For me red ball, steppes and ettelbruck are most common. |
It came definitively with this Windows 10 update. I'm also did some clear installations of drivers and the game. The log file tells something about issues with the config lua file. Deleting the containing folder and this file, followed of a fresh game installation, does not solve the issue.
IMHO MS is responsible for breaking the game but Relic has to fix.
MS is probably not responsible. Relic could just use something that was not officialy part of the api, for example implementation detail of something, and now when MS decides to change it, everything that used it stops working. That would be my bet. There is ofc also a small chance that MS changed something they shouldn't.
On a less serious note, with new update you can now run steamOS/linux version of coh2 on windows. It should work and is better optimised (or at least feeled that way last time I used it) but lacks playerbase. |
There were many people who tried to do this in coh2 but afaik nobody succeded. The game packs all voices in one large file so that it can be easily changed when you change language on steam. That means in order to get what you want you need to somehow unpack all the files from different language, combine them into one mixed language file, put the file back in place. The problem lies in the fact we don't know where is each of the voicelines placed in that file so we cant really do this. |
How can a panther jump from being UP and OP from patch to patch without being changed at all? Its either a delusion or something conected to other units. I would bet on the first option though as panther seems to be just as a solid choice as it always was for me. Not cheesy or overpowered, just solid, like all other units should be.
In fact, solid choice is what you can use to describe almost all non-doc ostheer units. Thats why the faction seems so perfect and works with such a synergy. Unless you use one of its meta commanders that completely redefine its gameplay. |
Yeah, I can't see this happening either. If Relic wanted to make two men load and fire a heavy weapon, they'd have implemented it on release - and let's be honest about the obvious alternative, one guy standing around unarmed in a squad is friggin' stupid. People were outraged enough when they had the Scripts do it a bit in the campaign, making everyone do it in multiplayer would be seen as nothing short of ridiculous.
Giving them no weapon at all, in the khrushchev way, would be ridiculous. Any real soldier would have at least a pistol for self defence. But even if they were armed with pistols instead of rifle this would still look stupid as any real squad leader wouldn't spare a man just for ammo carrying when down to 4-5 men. |
It's true that historically there would be always at least 2 men designated to one lmg or handheld AT weapon, just becouse how much ammunition it uses. That's also why squads did never use more than 2 of such weapons. One per each squad was already quite a lot.
On the other hand in the game average squad size is 5, instead of historical 10. That means its ok to designate only one guy for the heavy weapon, but just like in case of real squad they should never have more than 2 weapons per 10 men, so the real solution and good thing to do is just limit all squads to have no more than one special weapon. |
