This doctrine totally rekts urban maps like Stalingrad, right side of Angoville... so it really depends. On maps like Langres nobody fears flamer Sturmpio. Also haven't used flame hetzer for a while is it worth using it now?
Hetzer? not really. This is the weakest spot of the doctrine. You can possibly use one if there is still lots of camping in buildings at that point but normally luchs will serve you much better. |
The ideal situation is to play against people of higher rank. You will not climb the ladder otherwise. The player at #1 should not even play, as there is nothing to gain.
This isn't really true. The player at #1 still can gain elo to run away from the second player. He is going to get less for win than he loses for loose, so it's a little uphill, but if he plays mostly against worse players, especially at the hours where there is less players playing, he can get enormous elo. The example could be paul's stats before his ban. |
Speak for 1v1. 3v3+ up it's LeFH-on every game. Though, yes. Pak43s are a bit of a rarity. Pak43's used to be more common for the OKW emplacement commander. However OKW gets more leverage with LeFH + FlakHQ rather than with Pak43 + FlakHQ in the Calliope meta.
The primary reason artillery isn't fielded in other modes is the prohibitive MP cost (just offset FU to MP).
The reason why you only see LeFHs and not ML20/B4 is because you have no-brainer commanders (for the affected modes) that have abilities (e.g., Stuka-Dive-Bomb) that have been buffed to no-brainer levels.
The reason why you can see lefh more often is becouse the best allied commanders have no point and click to one shot off maps. At the same time stuka dive bomb is in meta in team games. If soviet commanders were ballanced and more FAB commanders were in use, lefh would by as rare as ml20. |
Simply remove brace.
I don't get why brits should have everything. We had already the pak43, soviet and ost arty and they don't have broken brace.
And they are useless. It's good that relic decided on a mechanic that allows the existance of emplacements - why would you add them if nobody is going to use them? Its all about making it ballanced, not removing it. |
Like skemshead already mentioned above: unfortunately your argument doesnt work because usually maxims win EVERY engagement vs MG42, no matter if the maxim is a-moving into a already set up MG42 (not joking) or if both players use the a-moving strat.
The only 1:1 engagement that a MG42 will definitely win is if it's garrisoned while the maxim is not, or if the MG42 uses its incendiary rounds
Or if it uses camo Still it's true that maxims usually win, not that it's a bad thing, mg42s are not ment as a counter to maxims.
I respectfully disagree because it negates the entire role of infantry as the backbone of any army. Why would I ever buy a conscript squad with 6 con models when I can buy a maxim for 20 manpower more which can suppress and comes with 5 of those 6 conscripts. Yes AT nades, oorah, Molotovs LUL. But the early engagments decide who will get the 1st light vehicle. This meta will be nerfed soon with WBP but we'll see how it plays out.
Maxim crew members are by no means equal to conscripts. They have horrible dps and RA debuff. Not to mention the death loop and packed formation. You are right though - the meta is going to shift and we are not sure what is the direction. Possibly most of the thigs that are being said here and are true right now, are not going to be true soon. Maybe the thread can be even considered pointless. |
Well I think we can compare emplacements to the tiger ace, it is op but you can only build one despite it's penalties.
Who would build a tiger ace?
There are many important differences between TA and the pit. First of all TA is doctrinal while the pit is non-doc. That means that after limiting you will see exactly one pit per brit in every game you play, while in case of ace it is in one, not even often used, commander. Furthermore the TA is 17 CP which means about 90% of matches are going to end before it even becomes available. And finally, getting TA is a decision that has both pros and cons to it - you are going to suffer huge penalties and in fact if you don't manage to kill half of your opponents army at first attack, it won't be worth it. If you happen to be snared while at half health, its usually neither good in combat nor worth repairing... So yeah, the TA is definitely not a no-brainer. On the other hand, on smaller maps, the pit may be impossible to counter.
Another thing is though that the strategy that hector uses and described in his guide works becouse of how good cromwell is, not only the pit. |
Making brace cost munitions is a great idea!
I feel like what makes emplacemets feel cancerous is the fact that players just spam them, imagine a team game where one of the players or even both build 2 mortar pits and 2 bofors, just the thought makes me want to puke. To fix emplacements just limit the player to build one of each type, this way the brit player still has the strongest defensive "units" but on the other hand he has to have some sort of army and cant spam emplacements.
Limiting to 1 is not the answer. Its just acknowledging the OPness of unit instead of fixing it. If you limit a unit to 1 instead of nerfing you are creating a no-brainer - a unit that is always beneficial to build and cant be produced in numbers. Thus you take 2 important decisions off players: whether they need the unit and how many of that type they need. A well designed and ballanced unit is the one that is build in some strategies and situations, while not in the others and the one that has enough counters or downsides so it's a player who decides that building too many of them is not good for their army composition. |
Last match was against PanzerGrenadierAngreifen who is currently 3rd in Wehrmacht while I am 600 in USF.
Thanks...I don´t even want to play 1on1 anymore because of this.
Match was found after searching for about 10 seconds. So very short searching time too.
I don´t know what to say about this...
It may happen that you are up against someone away in elo if he is searching for a long time (not necesarily you have to wait that long). If it happens after 10 seconds it is actually a non issue - you won't loose any elo against 3rd player in the ladder - you can play him for a bit to learn some things and then just surrender - neither your elo nor ladder position will change significantly - just becouse of the elo gap between the two players.
If by some miracle you win such match though - you are going to advance massivly. Trust me - I happened to be totally unfairly matched against ihitto once and won that match - great feeling and elo/ladder boost. |
If you would like some examples of good usage of said doctrine, go watch some vonivan streams. He is a top player that uses this doctrine very often in his okw matches and had success with it. |
The reason I have no specifics on stuff like that right now is because I'm in talks with venues, sponsors and esports companies (who I'm very suspicious of and one thing I can guarantee to people the community aspect of the tournament will not be lost sight of, ever.)
Which you can appreciate takes time. Probably have something to announce by the end of next week, especially if we end up going my preferred route of do-it-yourself.
Great, thank you just wanted an estimate |
