As ostheer you can do double mortars or a mortar halftrack. Also rifle grenades are very effective if the maxim is bunched up in cover. But don't bother to rifle nade behind green cover or if the squad is spread out unless you have other squads coming in to deal more damage - you just bleed munitions.
As OKW it is more tricky since they don't have a real counter to maxim spam. Maybe popping jaegers/falls out of buildings behind them and/or using LeIGs could work.
Dont forget that they already started some patches ago, to nerf the vet4 & vet5 from several infantry units. They are still strong of course, but not that much when WFA got released.

If the fix will work properly, I think OKW will be stronger than ever. Why?
Because they have superior veterancy that was originally designed to be compensated by a resource penalty. Well, now there's no resource penalty for the faction AND it still has the superior veterancy. Volks with schrecks gain veterancy in no time (this should be adjusted) and vet 5 obers will be a crazy terminator squad. Well any squad with vet 5 really. Even now when veterancy isn't working, panzerfusiliers and jaeger light infantry are very strong - I can't even imagine them at vet 5.
They made OKW's teching a bit more expensive but it doesn't compensate for the fact that they have such a strong mainline infantry units and very strong (although very specialized) armor units. And the fact that they get healing, repairs and an effective flak cannon capable of holding a relatively large area for free with their teching.
The balance will be thrown back to the day of WFA release bois.
They work better on maps which have a lot of close quarters combat. On those maps they murder everything. In long range maps, you're better off with M1919 paras if you want to use elite infantry or just BAR riflemen.
This has happened to some other people after the recent patch as well. If you could post the technical information of the error provided in the bugsplat screen (there is the option to see it, right?) here, maybe someone could help. Or maybe someone already knows how to solve it.
