Yep, that is what the M8 is for..M8s+ At gun should do nicely. No Bars or other fuel cost upgrades. Maybe not even the triage center.
Stall the Stug IV with the AT gun + infantry, and then use the M8 to scout for snipers or keep pumas away.
I have fought sniper spams before, I use the Jeep first (early game) and then use the M8. |
Like Modeling/Military interest companies, Relic is certainly aware, but will never admit that they also service a german supersoldier fanboy club with their product.
These players, often right wing types, are the ones that identify with the Wehr and/or SS and like to fantasize that they are nazi super soldiers. Either that or they are in love with the panzers.
A few of them are so infatuated with the perceived 'coolness' of the Wehr/SS that they often are also apologists for war crimes. The idea of a 'clean German Army, but the rest were scum' is a clear sell for them.
The Soviets are seen as totally inferior, low quality, uncool, 'commi scum' and 'only won' through "masses".
+1 lol

I like how Infantry Company, by mid- late game (I play 3 v 3) benefits immensely from Supply yard 1 and then 2. The units from off-map combat group are not always what you need but they come at a massive bargain (the cost savings are sometimes up to 140 fuel and 350 MP or more) and there's usually a way to use them. The lack of delay means that you can deploy them immediately without waiting for some sort of buildup which is an advantage.
I end up having a larger than typical fuel supply than with other doctrines, which gives me sort of an insurance.
Armor doctrine is good late game as well but I find Infantry company to be more reliable all throughout. The Howitzer shot is pretty useful @ 150 munis. Then of course, the howi. Rangers are good vs PE but I find them bad against Wehr.
Ironically, I find that Armor doctrine can get one into trouble if they are fighting PE 'tank destroyer' doctrine.
My favorite part of Airborne doctrine are the fuel/muni/HMG/mortar packages and the AT guns. Everything else I find a bit prohibitively expensive (air recon is too short, strafing run is too expensive, airborne is too expensive) although the bombing run is great if it connects (250 munitions). |
I have played COH a bit more and have changed my views on things.
Infantry company for USA is the best
Commandos for the British
LW for the PE
I haven't played Wehr recently so I am still undecided. But I still think it's blitz rather than Terror. |
I have always countered snipers with Jeeps...(1, preferably 2 jeeps). It is the easily way to locate them. 2 Jeeps (440 MP) is enough to kill one sniper very quickly even if they are running away.
You can also use M8 or T17 but Jeep is cheaper & faster. |
I think the second set of MP40s is just the pioneers without the side bags.
The 'pioneer kit' was that tall, narrow backpack + the 2 side bags. |
The problem is, Japan didnt really need much of a land force. They had a superior navy and air force, but this game mainly focuses on ground combat. With what little Japan had on the ground compared to other factions, it would be hard to keep them from getting owned each game unless they were able to call in a million air raids and naval bombardments.
The Japanese Army was millions strong. Most were occupying Manchuria, a large portion of China and the rest of Asia.
Most Japanese ground troops were fighting against the Chinese (kind of like how most German forces were fighting against the USSR) than the Western Allies. What people tend to forget is how the Chinese & Japanese armies suffered millions of casualties in China.
There was a large contingent of ground forces in Manchuria that was defeated by the Soviets in Operation August Storm in 1945. This, along with atom bomb, made the Japanese surrender.

The distinction between Panzer Elite and Wehr in vcoh is nonsensical.
Panzer Elite is supposed to replicate some of the units and activities of a Panzer division: armored recon battalion (the armored cars/halftracks of PE), mechanized infantry battalion (halftracks, AT halftracks, mortar halftracks, etc.), motorized infantry (Panzergrenadiers), the Panzerjaeger battalion (Marders, self propelled artillery (Hummels), SP anti-aircraft batteries (Wirbelwind) and the Panzer regiment (Panthers).
Wehr is basically a sprinking of the german army and put together into a miss mash. There are squads/units from various formations put together called 'Wehr'.
For instance you have SS Panzergrenadiers (stormtroopers), volksgrenadiers and grenadiers together which is odd. |
Yeah that's a lot clearer then the stuff I was looking at. Those are carbines.
US Armored Calvary/Recon operators were all equipped with m1 Carbines instead of garands. |
So far at least- I am not too impressed with the RPGs in vCOH. They miss a great deal unless the infantry get real close. The ones in COH2 are much better.
Against light vehicles (Puma, 250, and 222) I prefer to use the M8 scout car. Early Cromwell also works nicely.
I usually don't get RPGs against Wehr, Americans, or British. As far as Rangers, Airborne, Grenadiers, and Sappers go I simply do not like to buy and risk these expensive units or upgrades.
I only like Ranger RPG blobs vs. Panzer Elite. They don't have MGs or mortars, so they are rather vulnerable. Hetzers, Jagdpanthers, and Marders are especially vulnerable. Against Wehr I don't like Rangers all that much and prefer to get the off map combat group and AT guns to supplement my tank destroyers/tanks.
With the Germans they are strong anti-armor and weak infantry so I find PzS to be redundant. It doesn't play to their comparative advantage as you bleed manpower and munitions with this RPG infantry strat.
