That's why I am optimistic about CoH3, it will have the fancy new engine Microsoft paid them to make for AoE4.
They are making a new iteration of the Essence Engine. So that is kind of like Unreal Engine 5 from Unreal Engine 4; you reworking some of the rendering and other core components which may break some of the older functionality, and add some significantly large features and call it UE5. But it is 90% the same code.
I highly doubt they are remaking an engine from scratch. Only studios I know who are making new engine from scratch nowadays is 343i for Halo cuz they have like $500M in funding.
Great design imo. The real raketenwerfers were closer range than other ATG field guns, remember that Band of Brothers scene?
I actually like it. But I think the USF ATG should be more mobile with a move fast ability and perhaps reduce its pen a little. Sort of like the Raketen. They are both aggressive factions.
Also, Raketen are NOT bad. I get killed by those things more often than Paks when playing allies.
And I've killed Katyushas with it just A moving it around. It has camo can retreat after going out of position. It also doesn't die as easy as other ATGs. Also it can get vet 5 and fast rate of fire
Which gaming community doesn't love drama? It's entertaining/interesting (in a sad way of course if you look at it seriously)
My personal opinion, having 8000+ hours of this game since the beta, is that, based on the clips provided, the accusation of maphacking is not completely proven, although it is tough to prove such things in coh2. Personally I think it's most likely game awareness/competitive play. However, I do recall about 8-10 months ago seeking's level of gameplay in 1v1 was top 100. Over the course of those months he did train intensively with top players and has recently got better in tournaments overall. If he has been maphacking, it would've been prevalent in WC2020 I suspect, and that was not the case, unless it was something occurring recently. Though I will say being a friend of seeking, there is a personal bias so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I for one have always loved the community and watched carefully, even with those who have been sus in the past( Calling out Kimbo because I love him). But I have personally practiced with Seeking and have seen him improve his aggressive gameplay style and tactical gameplay awareness. He was originally a 2v2 high level player, but switched to 1v1 to get better. All high level players can agree with me that we have all trained with him at some point in the last 6 months. I was a bit shocked when I saw how many top players agreed the clips were suspicious, but I respect all of their opinions on this matter, as it is serious. My final conclusion to this long copy pasta is that instead of hanging the man, I would suggest first having a suspension or just having refs keep very close tabs on the games Seeking plays in the future for the next 6 months.
The ivan has given his verdict, Seeking is innocent
I'd say CoH2 is actually slightly more authentic than CoH1 was. CoH1 had a lot of very gamey oddities like 2 man Pioneer squads, Volksgrenadiers (an old man leading teenagers into battle) being superior to Riflemen, Grenadiers being par to BAR Riflemen (You're tellin' me 4 bolt action rifles is equal to 3 BAR's and 3 M1 Garands??), or the Knights Cross Holders being a Wehraboo's wet dream.
I think CoH2's designs for Pioneers, Volksgrenadiers, Grenadiers, Riflemen, and even Obersoldaten are a lot more authentic. Still far from a milsim, but definitely more believable. The most unbelievable thing about Obersoldaten is that they still exist after Operation Bagration!
Please critique my gameplay. I'm rank #300ish as OKW. Losing this game totally surprised me because I just can't believe I lost to Infantry Section blob.
He blobbed quadruple IS and barely micro'd them. Rarely would he not retreat all of them simultaneously
He lost his Cromwell and AEC. I lost none of my tanks till late game against his crazy defensive position in mid, yet I still couldn't hold map mid or late game. Although I kept my Puma and Luchs + Panzer IVs alive , they kept getting hit by double ATGs.
Little did I know mine spam is a great counter vs. Feursturm
I lost too much infantry though, my unit preservation has always been poor. I keep them fighting for too long.
Why my Raketen fail but his ATGs do so much work?
Should I have gone Stuka? Does anyone go Stuka in 1v1s? If it was a 2v2, that would be a no brainer. Blob + support weapons = stuka no brainer
Was my commander choice terrible?me
He seemed to always have so much infantry.
IS blob + dual fickers + his great Cromwell micro always kept my infantry at bay. He micro'd his Cromwell very well. It kept flying all over the map BECAUSE HE HELD MID.
Once church got destroyed cuz of his artillery, mid was game over for me. No way I could hold it from red cover, no building, while he had a wood building.
Priest/Calliope and Pershing also do not have crews.
Removing the crew from WC-51 was a good change for a number of reasons.
They are all incorrect design decisions. Those 3 units were bandaided to prevent exploiting first of all. Relic could've taken care of this better if they coded a feature that prevented this exploit but still kept vehicle crews.
The WC-51 is in a different category. Its not an exploitable unit with vehicle crews, so bringing those 3 units is not a good argument.
Also you have not said anything about what I said regarding mobility and USF design.
Two of personality traits of the USF faction is mobility and repair crews. If the WC51 needed a nerf, I do not think its overall role & design should be nerfed.
I think a .50 cal nerf or making it more expensive would've been better than removing repair crews. When you remove repair crews, it doesn't feel like a USF unit and ruins the flow of USF. This opinion is shared by TwistedTootsy too; I was talking to him the other day about the WC51 vehicle crew nerf.
Yes, WC51 deserved a nerf, but it was nerfed in an incorrect way that did not preserve its design. Instead you want to either make it more expensive, give it a 1CP requirement, or make the .50 cal weaker (range has already been reduced).
You can think of a lot of alternative nerfs that does not ruin its design.
