well I see that my legitimate thread has a few cases of troll and l2p comments. Why do you "certain" people feel the need to do that so much? Anyway after experimenting for a while I've determined that axis random in 3v3,4v4, and 2v2 is an absolute nightmare. AT all day or you get rolled early on, or in the few instances late game was there, and not a one sided fight, idiots throw away wins by running kts into def lines (on the far right of the map when we own the left and center only(lanzerath)) with 1-2 units as back up and cry for help calling everyone a-holes and noobs (real winner that guy.
I also find that when brits are not in the equation things have a much higher chance of success and I can't even pinpoint where the exact issue is there. |
Well, looking at grenadiers in particular largely from a brit perspective.
You have the panzerfaust, which is enough to counter or mitigate brit vehicles until medium armour. Even end game this makes grens significant when using armour since a broken engine can spell death by pak 40 pretty easily. To be any sort of threat to armour an infantry section has to take a PIAT, thus giving up one of the weapon slots.
There's the rifle nade, which if nothing else means having to watch every engagement with grens carefully. An infantry section will rarely do anything other than find cover to shoot from since the grenades generally aren't worth the teching costs. The rifle nade also gives limited utility against MGs.
Finally you also get your LMG delivered on field. Combine that with a halftrack for reenforcement and you have a pretty potent early/mid game combo.
all very good points. Minus the mobility of the 251 comapred to the ambulance..riflemen can do all of that as well. The pineapple isn't as hard to notice as the RG but the time delay isnt long either if you dont catch it before it lands. I forget if its rifle company specific or universal but with vet upgrade they get an at nade of some sort as well. |
I think you could compare total fuel investment of allied infantry to that you need to pay as a side tech for grens to unlock fausts, nades and lmgs.
while i get what you're saying I'm not sure the original poster was going for that. Which is why I asked for him to elaborate.
So gren squad comes out of the box with pfasut, can be upgraded to lmg42, and gets rifle nade. 4 man squad cost 240 mp.
riflemen- cost 280 mp, 5 man squad, requires global upgrade for nades and weapon rack. IIRC the total fuel investment is 60 fuel, dont remember the mp number
I'm comparing riflemen to grens here because it seems like the thread OP is on about rifle dbl mg blobs. |
I don't see any reason why axis squads (i.e. grenadiers) should get 2 lmgs considering their other utility.
while I dont think grenadiers should get two lmgs. Please explain what this other utility is. Because it sounds like that utility you're talking about outweighs the utility of the allied squad (i.e riflemen). |
Brits are better than wehrmacht in every way.
so how do I beat that? |
I dont know about tough as hell but Axis is definitely much harder than before. Also exact unit in a different faction spells different things. I.e if USF had a KT unit it would be broken beyond belief. The same setup here, even if the pak and the 6 pounder have the same stats...look at the faction as a whole and how that fits in.
just my 2 cents |
Ok thanks all for the advice and insight. I have been trying the advice. It seems to work ok when i have premade guys with me. On randoms its hit and miss. On 4v4 with brits invovled I don't know what it is but its a constant facerolll. The killing combo seems to be brits mixed with USF infantry |
There´s your problem. (i think you mean LeIG)
How is building one LEIG a problem? The thing was so useless I sued to not even use it, it seems to actually make an impact now
There is no perfect strategy right now for axis that you can follow which ensures wins. Situation has changed with the last patches. You have to react to your opponent and have counters ready in time.
Also try to be very aggressive with your mates in early game in order to win fast. You can not fight allies armour cost effectively in late game, especially the British tanks.
Unless you have a lot of experience and know the most different strategies, situations & maps by heart you will have a hard time.
SO essentially, guess their strategy and overwhelm them early. I agree about the tanks, it just seems like a too late too little battle. Do pak43 commanders tip the tide vs the tanks or would that just be suicide with all the arty and planes?
Playing Axis right now in any mode is not recommended if its for fun.
my advice is use FHT against brits, only counter that punishes you is AEC car, which many Brit players absolutely hate using, so you can get alot of kills/territory back with its first apperance.
Never build Panzer 4, always stugs (plural) because Stugs will always penetrate KVs Centuar Easy 8s etc, P4 will not.
SO for OST your saying stugs- into panthers. What about okw? from what I've seen the only worthwhile vehicles are the, luchs, panther, and stuka.

I had the luxury of being gone for training for the brits initial release and til about a week ago. I don't feel much issue playing 1v1 but when i go into the fun mode (4v4, 3v3) I just don't know what to do with axis anymore. It just feels overwhelming. The combination between the brits, SU, and USF just seems to pimp slap the teams I've been on. I've changed nothing about my play style other than I actually build and IEG (two if its an urban map or heavy emplacements) I also tend to go t2 last now as that building seems to be a waste atm. I know that AT will always beat randoms (usually) but what is the current axis meta? I clearly have been out the loop too long.I typically go OKW right now as it's more simplified and less frustrating than relying on weapon teams (OST) that get wiped easily around mid game-late. I see alot of players going OKW too, I dont see a large number of OST in team games like I used to.
I see either full okw or 1 ost and 3 okw mostly.
tl:dr; what is current axis meta for team games?

Okay Axis stop crying. Relic did a phenomenal job in their "attempt" to balance large team games. The addition of Brits helped bridge the gap between USF and Soviets mid game's. We all know how Axis army had a field day in large game modes before the Brit release.
I had a well thought out and constructed post for you..but my rage at firefox for going back in the browser when I hit backspace INSIDE my text box has erased that. First off Axis did not have a field day, at least dating to about 4 patches ago. Second of all the OP is talking about 2v2 here. Third of all, if you're saying the large team games are fine now and playing axis I believe the term is masochist. The synergy dynamic allies can create right now is awe inspiring. You see planes coming in, churchills breaking throguh backed by jacksons, artillery offmap smashing the defense good, and mixed allied infantry over taking the axis infantry. It's like the end days of ww2. The allied combined arms is great. Now we need to get axis in its own flavor of that level.
P.S. How about a constructive post instead of a (stop crying l2p relic did a great job hur hur) post. |
