If you order a steak in a restaurant you pay for it and this is what you get. In a CoH2 restaurant you get a steak (more or less complete game at the beginning, save for the chat and ladders which are being added for free anyways) and when you finish that, you get a free dessert. And if you're more hungry you can order potatoes and salad, which you have to pay for. And some people think they should get the potatoes and salad for free also… (A silly comparison yes I know but nevertheless…)
We (sadly) live in a capitalist world, where we usually have to pay to get new things. Let me remind you again that CoH2 already is full game and DLCs are just extras to which I believe we aren't simply entitled to for free per se. About the collector's edition I can't comment on that, since I don't know exactly what was promised and what people actually got. I preordered the game, got to keep progress from the open beta and the Fall Blau for free as promised, completely satisfied.
So far I like the concept of DLCs, because they keep the game breathing, changing, ALIVE. New content, units and stuff always bring a breath of fresh air. And getting some that content for free – great. If the income from DLCs can make even more content become available in the future, like one of the Devs said previously, that's even better!
About competitive play – yes guys, here I agree with you, that paying for Commanders that are possibly better than free ones could pose a problem. But which of the now available Commanders are OP? As far as I'm aware the Commanders were pretty much balanced out, Assault grenadiers and Osttruppen changed (fixed) in less than 2 weeks if I remember correctly. Or do you still think they're OP? And about the upcoming ones, how do you so surely know they're OP since most of us haven't even tried them out? Tiger Ace for example, I believe some people underestimate what it means to cut off all resource income and what consequences can that have. I'm not saying they are or OP or not, just that we should we first try them out and then criticize.
About the skins - they're cosmetics and eyecandy only, the least of the problems. If you like them, buy them, if you think that they're too expensive, maybe buy one (or two) per month, that's how I do it, those 2€ can always be spared in a month.

Have fun, guys

Very well said! |
snipers in general.
So what do you think should be altered to make them fit better into the game? |
on the good side of things, u can spend 2.99 on new commander and build tanktraps, how awesome is that
Aren't the tank trap commanders the ones who only require e-mail registration?
|
at the very least they need to start bundling this dlc better and discounting the bundles
This and also prices for comsetics such as skins and facplates are too steep. It should be more like 3$ for a bundle with 3 skins in it. |
The german sniper has about the same survival chance against small arms fire as the soviet sniper team.
The high armor value of the german sniper means that statistically his survival is very RNG dependent (yeah!).
So he can die from the first volley of an engineer squad at long range as well as survive retreating right through 2 conscript squads - if RNG wills it.
... resulting in occasional bouts of rage on both sides
Ahh, that explains a lot. I wondered how the armor value influences his survivability.
Thanks for the advice!
i think the snipers still need a rework even after the change from vcoh that was made because right now they feel very very limited. to many counters not very effective at killing troops.
Are you talking about snipers in general or just the german one?

Oh, really? Call of Duty and Battlefield titles have $50-$70 DLC spanned over the period until the next installment is about to release. CoH2 is only four months post release and just the tank skins cost about $50. Just imagine how that will compare after adding in faceplates, ToW, and the current+pending commanders.
Well I expect CoH 2 to last another ~6 years as its predecessor did unlike BF and CoH who bring out a new game nearly every year.
But if we take all DLC into consideration you are right, it's more expensive. I just left singleplayer content and comsetics out of my equation because that's not important for competitive play.
That leaves us with 4 commanders which actually brought new content that you had to pay for.
While I agree that overall DLC prices for this game are too high and that there should be some sort of season pass or premium update, I still think that CoH 2 is by far not as bad as the majority of other titles out there.

Guys it could be much much worse. Just look at what became out of Call of Duty and Battlefield.
The maps in CoH 2 are still free so are certain commanders and the ones you have to pay for, are far from being op in my opinion. |
Thanks for the advice! Gonna try some of that in my next matches.
Countersniping is a pain due to the way the soviet camo works. They constantly reveal themselfes by popping out of cover unintendedly...
It's also hard to get in range since there always are some grens between your and the enemy's sniper. Gotta be damn careful not to get wiped by those.
Most succes I had by just ignoring him and land a lucky kill eventually. |
Edit: double post. |
I mean it is ridiculous that you mention not being able to leave MG42 on its own without getting molotoved, you said something about having to babysit it with Grens.
Well, thats what its designed for. To support Grens and Grens to support MG42, they work very well if used that way. And you know that very well
Now if you said that MG42 is slightly UP and needs a tinny buff, I would agree with that. And most other players who don't have crush on single faction, probably. .
Instead you opted for a rant and ridiculous examples of what can happen to MG42 in the hands of complete no0b
Sorry mate I did not mean to upset you, there was just a little sarcasm from my end .
And yes my rant might have been a little over the top.
I would gladly welcome a slight buff to the mg42 just for the sake of not having to fight grenspam in 75% of my games I play as soviets. As I stated before, I think it slightly underperforms.
Now that said, no hassle intended and I widely agree with your sight on the matter.
Peace
