As someone who has been using Kubels since alpha, I would not be adverse to a 5 or even 10 fuel cost if I can keep it as it is. I mean it's not as if it will set you back too hard on teching, who ever builds more than one per game anyway?

Maybe that will make its cost more consistent with its performance, but I would prefer that its performance be looked at instead of cost. There is no reason an mg should be able to suppress, have no setup time, and at the same time be ultra mobile. That's how the kubel is right now. |
Wrong. This unit doesn't behave like maxim. If hit hard, for maxim you can hit the retreat button, go to Hq and reinforce + gain aditional xp. If hit hard, kubel will lose engine, become slow and be easily killed.
On the other hand, if it gets flanked it just turns around and instantly starts firing and suppresses the flanking squad. That is something even the fast maxim can't do as well. Plus if you are playing USF you have no way to throw a grenade at it like the OST rifle grenade against maxim. And unlike maxims this unit does not require to be spammed. Only 1 is enough to get the effect. Though I have seen some get more than 1.

Don't see the issue in a car made of -at best- cardboard. Two conscript scuads shooting at the Volkswaggen design will destroy it before it can even start to supress

It's a bad design, but on the positive side, shreks are awesome and maintain their value throughout the game against all USF and most sov tanks. Bazookas in comparison have limited use and lose their value once heavy tanks show up.
The problem is that it is not a doctrinal combo and OKW can simply push you and when you overcome it, he already has in place a defensive structure: MG32 or flak-truck.

nope. m3 and dodge are quite heavy dps units especially against a kubel who is a larger target size then infantry. also dont forget that the m3 and dodge is meant to carry a squad inside of it mister i have 2 standards.
That is exactly why it needs to get close, duh! In order for it to be most useful the flamer eng or penals inside of it have to get close and that's how it gets fausted/ambushed/hit mine/etc. Kubel doesn't need to get close at all.

When I played with Kübelwagen people who called OP against it were complaining because their same old strategies (if you can call Maxim spam a strategy) didn't automatically counter the Kübelwagen anymore (pinned down Maxims could still easily destroy Kübelwagen). They didn't try to build anything else, they didn't get anti-tank guns out. They didn't try to attack it from more than one side, they didn't try to put ambushes in, they didn't try to lay mines etc., basically the stuff that Germans are already used to having to do against stuff like M3 and the Dodge. People didn't put much effort in the past into killing the Kübelwagen because you just had to wait until its pathing eventually went batshit insane and it killed itself. This is why I don't really care currently about their complaints too much right now. I actually even heard such complaints already before the patch occasionally.
When my enemies actually start to try to adapt to the Kübelwagen, I will maybe change my opinion.
With Americans however I think a problem is that their Bazookas are too inaccurate against it now. A target size increase could fix this.
This is a flawed comparison, because m3 and jeep have to get close to do damage. Kubel on the other hand, does damage and suppresses from a distance. That's why most of the tactics one uses to fight m3 for example do not work against it well (especially for USF). |

This just happened to my team mate now.
He ordered his maxim to retreat, but the gunner got killed and the retreat was cancelled. Every time he clicked retreat the same thing happened until all 4 crew died and the opponent took his maxim. This along with another game loss for stupid pathing issues pissed him so much he deiced to stop playing this patch.
Another mate falls victim to bugs and poor balance of this patch. |
Solution: ISU-152/IS2.
Don't build another tank. Don't play USF.
Spam them until Relic nerf them to oblivion.
Then play axis or leave the game.
This is actually happening now. I have mates that do not want to play USF anymore because at start they have to deal with kubel and later they have to deal with panther. In both cases USF has very hard time dealing with those 2 units. |

You know I was thinking what would be a good armor value if they fix everything else with the Panther and 270 came to my mind. Looking now at those numbers I dont know why they chose to change it to 290 and then 320. It's like they were not sure how to fix it so they decided to throw more armor on it. Not a solution.
panther is just OP now in a 2v2. if you face 2 -3 panthers you can leave if your enemy not completely is a noob. because of its big range, superior penetration and good accuracy he will fight every thing from distance. against jacksons or SU 85 he closes in for 2 -3 shots which is enough against a Jackson. with T34/85 you are lost because he just reverses out while firing on you and the 34/85 shells always bounce on is frontplate.

Yes this is mainly because of its high front armor. Su85 and zis have 200/190/180 penetration so when they fire at the panther from long distance, barley half the shots can penetrate (180/320=56%). On top of that long range accuracy is only 2.5%, so half your shots will miss. In that scenario expect only 1 shot out of 4 to hit and penetrate the panther front armor from long range. |
