The headline pretty much states it. Ostheer is a weak faction. It is not allowed to have late-game strenght or the fanboys assemble. It is shit early, it is shit mid and it is shit lategame. The latest patch actually changed the weakest faction of the game for the worst. Tigers and Elefants are shit. There is no doubt about that. Everything penetrates Tigers and Elefants are just a joke with 70 range, slow speed and no maneuverabiltiy. You are lucky if you get off a shot with it.
The fragility issue remains on Ostheer infantry with even weaker sniper starts and constant mortar wipes on 4 men squads.
Ostheer used to be something. Now it is simply put shit because people are afraid if a German faction gets something good lategame. A cost decrease of t4 didn´t change a thing. The units still can´t coutner their supposed targets. Panzerwerfers are meh and the Panther is shit again unable to dish out damage. Oh and it goes down with one salvo of concentrated AT fire. Every SU-85 shits on it.
Neither is Ostheer allowed to have a 60 range AT vehicle like any other faction in the game. Yet they don´t get shit to compensate for that.
I suggest some lategame buffs to the faction or it is hopeless.
RIP Ostheer. |
Everyone stop right now, katiof said it, it's a balanced patch and anyone defending axis are fan boys and it's a L2P problem. Coming from a pro who plays the game. Leave it to him to be correct. Everyone can log off now since there is no balance to discuss. What he says goes. When Katitoff says the game is balanced, there is something seriously wrong in the Allied favour. |
What I noticed is that OKW has a bit more problems to handle the cancer commander now.
No Schrecks on Volks means that it is harder to finish the emplacements. Also the LeIG is harder to obtain as you have to spend 270mp on that Raketenwerfer (instead of simply investing ammo on Volks) to not be caught with your pants down versus vehicles. Also the 100mp for the medic upgrade can be felt. It seems OKW falls into a small gap when the first truck is deploayed and about when the first emplacements arrive.
Other than that the changes seem good. |
The Panther has no effective use. If someone suggest that it should become effective, all hell breaks loose. While the OKW Panther is somewhat redeemeed by mediocre AI, the Ostheer Panther is a disgrace on tracks. The least thing one could do is give the Ostheer Panther the OKW Panthers stats. The way it is, the Ostheer Panther is not worth building. Hypothetical scenarios where it is at Vet2 don´t change the fact that in almost all real engagements the Panther is a burden rather than helping you. In a game against equally skilled opponents you build a Panther and are hard stressed to counter tanks. A vet 0/1 Panther sucks in this scenario and you are more likely to lose than if you had simply gone for a single StuG.
It is an AT unit that doesn´t have the high damage or 60 range of every other factions AT units. The "high" frontal armor offers little less protection versus AT and is going give even less protection versus AT in the upcoming patch. The armor is pretty much only good for stopping Cromwell/ T-34-76 and Sherman shells. Thus the Panther should offer some AI. Ostheer Panthers stats should be switched to OKW Panther stats so you can actually level it up and make it effective. The way it is now, the Vet2 is theorycrafting and only comes available in the fewest situations.
tl/dr: Ostheer Panther should get OKW Panther stats. |
I usually use that if I want revenge for the opponent abusing emplacements which is also a legit tactic. |
The suggestion I make is in the title. I see no reason at all why the Ostheer Panther that arrives later should have worse stats than the OKW one which can already be accessed in the mid game. A problem of Ostheer tier 4 is that tier 3 does everything as well. To not overbuff the Panther I think the higher accuracy of the OKW Panthers MGs should also apply to the Ostheer Panther. That actually makes a difference.
The fuel difference also does not reflect the units performance. For years they were the same cost. The fuel on the OKW Panther was just increased to adjust the unit pacing and full income OKW got. |
I don´t like that bulletins can´t be stacked. They lose their whole point imo.
With this poll I´d like to get a better overview what the community thinks. |
i am the only one to think that "Daily Loot Limit" is stupid ?
That are twelve games per day. I think that is enough. That´s about 6-8 hours of playtime every day I would estimate. I´m also more curious how they are going to find out who scripted their bulletins and who didn´t. |
T-34-85 and Easy8 get countered by it. Thanks to its high hp pool it can often penetrate deep into enemy lines and deliver a finishing blow before driving out again. The Panther has EXACTLY the HP of a T-34-85. If you push into enemy territory you get flanked and lose the Panther as fast as any other medium because it has NO high HP pool. Meanwhile you deliver less shots. |
Everybody knows that the Panther fulfills an unneeded role.
There is no Allied heavy that the Panther is needed for but the IS-2. And that is in two doctrines opposed to 4-5 Ostheer doctrines that contain the Tiger I and non doctrinal King Tigers for OKW. The SU-85 is needed. The Panther is not. The other heavy tank - the Churchill - counters the purpose of the Panther with a high HP pool and mediocre armor.
Further the Panther as a "meatshield" doesn´t make it good either. It has the HP pool of a medium. So in some rng events it can go down within seconds. It is just blasphemy on these forums if someone suggests a strong German lategame. You can´t expect any good discussion with this as it is a no-go for some people. And now we are stuck with a vehicle that serves no relevant purpose. |
