How much OST recon strafe costs?

Forgot they even had one. I just checked and it's apparently the same as the OKW one. No wonder stukas killing arty is such a damn problem, it's cheap as fuck.

And then why are the USF recons so much more expensive.

The OKW recon pass is doctrinal, whereas the Major's is non-doctrinal.

The USF recon loiter does exactly what it says on the tin for 80 ammo, it loiters around the area, whilst the 35 OKW recon is literally a strafe that is a once and done flyby. There's a difference in cost for a longer lasting recon.

The only thing that makes the loiter a bit useless is OKW's AA truck, which hardcounters USF's loiter.

1. Doctrinal units and abilities are not cheaper then non-doctrinal things. That's never really been the case. On top of that majors recon is limited in the direction you can call it in and comes much later.

2. Only the mechanized support commander has the loiter. Recon and mechanized have a single pass which costs 60 muni.

There's a serious inequality when it comes to AA from OKW. I'm not talking about the base flaks, which are also quite annoying, but the panzer schwerer.

In 1v1, it's mostly avoidable. I personally am annoyed that OKW is the only faction who gets free AA, but that isn't really all that terrible. The flak can be avoided if you are selective about where you call in your planes and even when it's close it will still take some time to down it.

But once we start having multiple panzer schwerers on the field there starts to be a real problem. Even just starting at 2, they are capable of knocking out planes with great efficiency. It's gotten to the point where in 3v3s and 4v4s allies have generally given up entirely on loiter abilities. Recons only last a couple of seconds, attacking planes often don't even last till their second runs, and the soviets fuel drops will never make it to base. Allied airpower ends up being non-existent simply because of the fact that there is more then 1 OKW player on the field.

I think the easiest fix for this would be to add a toggle between air and ground fire, so there is some micro involved and there would be less chance that the players across the map will react to every plane. Although this likely won't change much for a cordinated team, it will make things a bit better in randoms.

Or we could switch around some of the side teching costs and put some on the flak HQ so it's less likely every players flak will be active at once.

If Americans in CoH1 could flank an MG position without mortars, true sight, or smoke grenades, and while the Wehrmacht has access to a bike for vision, there's no excuse for not being able to flank an MG in CoH2, except for lazy, bad play. That's why when good CoH1 players like Noggano, DevM, or Aimstrong show up, CoH2 players quickly get their asses kicked.

Just stop, you're just embarrassing yourself.

1. Coh1 rifles were cheaper and you could get more of them quicker
2. Coh1 rifles didn't have to purchase bars with munitions, meaning there were more munis for nades
3. Coh1 USF could choose to start with mortar and other support weapons, if the map was unfavorable for rifle flanking.
4. Coh1 rifles had jeeps which could spot for them
5. Coh1 MG42s didn't have AP rounds to counter supporting light armor as well
6. Coh1 MG42s had purchased vet and vet MG42s were rare
7. I'm pretty sure Coh1 MG42 had a smaller arc then the Coh2 MG42
8. COH1 balance is completely different then Coh2 balance
