May I remind you that it wasnt cool then, but it was a little more fair. You never got instant vet three guys until you teched through the whole tree and purchased three linear upgrades. Now you can do it at 2:30 which horribly scews combat situations in favor of Ostheer. My example is that after 40+ minutes a vet three conscript squad can kill vet 0 panzer grens, which by a cost and combat powers analysis on base stats should never happen. Only instead of earning the veterancy through game play, you can just upgrade a unit early on and slaughter Soviet infantry.
Yep. I didnt say I dont agree with the critics about this commander, nor that I am completely in favor of this commander. Untill now my opinion is against it though.

Huh? Ofc the individual "troop training" ability is a problem. In COH2 both factions earn veterancy, and veterancy is extremely powerful. That is a core game mechanic. It's a big part of "every battle tells a story," as the veterancy of each unit represents its actions in battle. All of this is what is wonderful about the game.
Elite Troops breaks it all. You pay money for a commander, and suddenly you can "buy" vetted units long before they should ever be on the battlefield, creating completely imba fights right at the start of the game. Each one of those "elite troops vetted" units is actually robbed of it's "story"... it didn't fight to earn its vet. It has no story. Its vet came from p2w DLC. The whole thought of it just makes you want to vomit. No longer can you tell units that earned their vet apart from units that simply converted a resource.
Would I as a caster want to name a tripvet Gren that has 0 kills and follow him around the battlefield? Um, no, I wouldn't. Conversely, watching that tripvet Gren fight makes me want to uninstall the game.

Never allow people to make their own Commanders. It will be really hard to guess what the opponent is using and how to counter it. Will make it more of a random game than tactical game.

the commander that I use (with the 1 CP LMG partisan), actually gets a nice buff this patch.
The LMG will be more potent on long range (which they always have to be anyway).
The Cons are more potent +
their PPSH will do significant damage on the run (which makes it possible to kill some german units on the run! FINALLY!).
Then the howitzer shoots less shells but can shoot more often. (Although some arties still hard counter it, which doesnt make it worth the 600 MP)
Finally, the T-34, which is a viable candidate to combine with cons and at nades, will be more potent in killing P4s. |
arent the t70 and t34-76 going to be less viable to go for? Although they are more reliable, you'll be forced to go T-2 Zis because Panzer 4 simply comes way earlier now. Otherwise, is the elite doctrine balanced? Cause they did not adapt anything.

I met it against an inferior player atm. I think it's hard to deal with. I dont even get why relic implemented so many good abilities in one commander. Im walking around with 160 munitions ability to get 1 squad if 6 of my men get killed. He spends 80 MP and 20 fuel to get vet3 and keeps killing... |
Since the hotfix, I have not seen a single Pioneer squad beat a Conscript squad with both in no cover. (This usually happens in the first minutes of the games, while capping territories). If they are 2 Pios squads, and close range, yes, you will lose.
I have seen this happen, if cons close in on pios for instance, being in red cover and the pios in no, yellow or green cover. |

i go irregular in m3 with penals and 2 cons. later sniper and T3-> T34. |
another game. this time against a rank 150 or so player. Although he seemed a bit off his game, I think it shows how strong the Irregular / M3 combo is and later repairing of cons on my T34s.
