First off, from the start of this game, I always thought it was a stupid ability, but katilof is right. If they did remove ram then t3 is basically useless for AT. The t34-76 is already useless against tanks except assault guns, but those are a rare sight.
Then again ram, is hardly used when I play. It's a really stupid move if a soviet player uses ram against a heavy tank. Think about it, majority of the time, and I mean majority, it only shocks or slows down the heavy tank. Which basically is throwing away 85 fuel right there.
Now if you're using a P4, ostwind or stug, it's a different story. Those tanks you need to support them with infantry or else they just take a lot of unnecessary damage. Basically what I'm saying is that your an idiot if you send a t3 vehicle without support. It really isn't difficult fausting a t34. If you're using a P4 stay very close to the tank, you are easily going to kill the t34 anyways. As for stugs, no player will ram a stug, it's an assualt gun they can circle it. Same thing for ostwinds, t34s kill already easily kill them.
Ram isn't as bad as you make it seem. I'm guessing that you were unlucky and the Ram messed up your heavy tank completely. The only time I use ram is if I have a partner with a su-85 behind me or I have other means of AT supporting me. It's a dumb and gimmicky ability, I know, but it's necessary. |
Maybe if you didn't engage 3 squads in better cover, run over red cover and kept close instead of mid range you'd do better?
This. They are great for killing support weapons, since they kill them fast while grens take forever to kill a 6 man squad. |

It'll be this and the 3ppshs for 30 muni until both get moved to 4832.3 cps, are nerfed into oblivion, or both! Germans just can't be pleased unless every single german unit or ability is superior to its soviet counterpart ... Or so it seems anyways. Heaven forbid the soviets have something good :/

You right. Soviet one will only give you text notice of what's being build and sometimes a ping on minimal that will show the position. You still can miss that ping however (some skill requirement there and you have to remembered the place for yourself.
German one gives you free recon plane like ability that will show you entire location of enemy army and what's where.
Now you see why the difference?
Not my faulty majority of players don't know how to use it.
And to clarify if Soviet one is OP then German one is game braking. At least be honest when calling for a nerf.
Well, comparing it to the recon plane is a bit ridiculous and showing the whole army, hardly. The partisan map hack ability is the broken one that shows all units to everyone for 10-12 seconds while the G43 shows it for like 2-4 seconds? Again, I hardly ever use the g43 ability because it doesn't even work a majority of the time. I think radio shouldn't tell you where mines are placed, but I'm fine with it telling the other player if I placed the mine so he can actually invest in minesweepers. Get my point? |
Radio intercept isn't fine, and it shouldn't be in that new doctrine to be quite honest. People who say, "herp a derp" it hasn't been touch since launch, so what? The reason why Relic haven't touched it was because it's been in awful doctrines, and yes that includes the partisans doctrine, which sucks.
To be quite honest, it shouldn't even be in the new Soviet commander, but I highly doubt that Relic will take it off. Instead they should just nerf the ability to see where the mine is especially since German mines are really expensive. I'm fine if my opponent knows I built a mine so he can upgrade to detectors, but for him exactly to know where it is, is pretty ridiculous. |
Meh, its effectiveness really depends on the map. I think the health and damage is fine but the problem is it's rear armor. SU85s can't flank it, they aren't supposed to, however, T34-85s should be able to penetrate its rear armor.
As well infantry aren't the best counter especially if they have an ostwind by it, unless you have 2 squads of guards. It's one of those vehicles that are a bitch to take down, but at the same time is pretty damn rewarding to kill like the king tiger or the orginal tiger ace in vcoh's terror doctrine.
I think really they just need to weaken it's rear armor and it will be fine, some maps it's just too effective but really that's Relic's map design's fault and the not the unit. |
