Jeez, they already have the highest DPS of any unit in the game, with the possible exception of IR StG Obersoldaten (which I can't check because I don't know which file they use).

A lot less tactics are required with Obers, Shocks at least have to get close.

getting flanked by shocks is usually pretty fair, shocks cant wade through infantry fire and close in without losses, they usually need to come from another angle which is actually good play rather than op.
obers on the other hand have got more dps than everyone else, so going head on, a+move + focus fire usually will cut down a squad, spam t to go back for heals and rinse and repeat until the enemy infantry army is all gunned down. |
If a squad gets wiped by a grenade, it's because you didn't move them in time. It's really that simple.
As an added bonus it's actually WAY easier to dodge grenades with this update than before. The volksgrenadier grenade even had its fuse increased by half a second which makes this complaint even funnier.
rifle nades has no fuse. longer range and difficult to spot the animation. its a matter of probability, throw enough nades, sooner or later you are going to score a good hit and wipe a squad, god forbid if thats a upgraded vetted squad. |
like to see them 6 man though. more importantly though, are they tough enough to stand up to lmgs? armed to the teeth but if they are going to melt to lmg fire like all allied elite infantry, then whats the point? |
losing units as usf is gg. plain and simple
losing viable units as sov. such as snipers and guards is gg
as OKW i had a game yesterday where i lost 1 mg34 3 sturmpios from a luck mortar, and lost to shreked volks from a luck demo.
axis is simply easier to play. very forgiving.
i built a KT and made double obers. My KT got 87 kills and vet 5. obers got a combined total of 154 kills.
i cant find my sepf to play allies for long periods of time anymore.
USF has no elite infantry in t4. jackson has a hard time penetrating a panther and above. hell, it even has trouble against a vet 2 p4 with skirts.
sov get very boring and too east to counter. mortar halftrack flame ability makes their t2 useless. stuka does the same.
spamming penals or cons wont work cus they dont scale. shocks are easily denied with proper mg placement and support.
and axis have way more options
sov its either t1 or t2. transition into call-ins
usf is ur good for the first 10mins. then its an uphill battle. U think u are wining, then a tiger ace will end everything.
If ur oportunity window is huge for usf or sov thier is no reason to lose. get mines ATG's amd tanks.
If ur window is very small, then there is little u can do.

im so sick of getting cut down by a+move obers, my tanks getting assraped from a jagdtiger stationed on the moon. blasted by 10min stukas and having to reverse my tank from a single schreck. if thats not enough, 50 range tiger ace with smoke canisters and blitz, as if 1 getaway ability while outranging most conventional tanks isnt enough.
well played relic, selling ardennes assault while the mp is dominated by deutschland, the bloody irony. lets see what you can do with ur 'future' balance patches. im not expecting much. |
okay i take back what i said, okw dont need help. these guys are horribly effective, overpowered and not at all restricted by any okw so called 'fuel issues'.
combo them with jadgtigers and nothing will even come close to beating them on a straight fight.
i cant believe it, blob a couple of them together, shoot and scoot. more often than not, they can cut down squads before they take a model loss. its disgusting. are idiots working at relic balance team and jacking each other off to pictures of deutsche ubermensch? |
give rifles green cover on demand, sandbags please.
they are powerful, but have little defensive abilities/boost to shrug off lmg fire later into the game. give them ability to build better cover so they can take the 1st few burst of fire without losing a model when A+move lmgs start coming.
paras need abit of help survivability wise to justify their price, after all, they are 390mp and 120munition per unit, not sure why they dont match obers in terms of durability and dps. |
its amazing how relic isnt doing anything yet with something as glaring as this. there's a good amount of arguments why obers should be nerfed/toned down to believable levels, while most of the counter arguments are actually pretty horrible (note: Jaigen), something kids say when you take away their ice cream.

Obers outscale all other late game infantry currently, by far. This is mostly due to them receiving two -29% received accuracy modifiers through vet, stacked on top of their base -30%.
For comparison, PGrens get one -29% modifier while having a base of -20%.
The LMG DPS would (probably) be fine if they didn't become immune to bullets at high vet.
im saying in general, volks and sturms arent going to cut it mid/late game. they need something better against rifles and soviet elites. they dont need obers, but they need something to scale up late game infantry.

to be honest though, okw are actually well designed, their tiers are damn useful. its light arty + jadgpanzer and medics in battle group, stukas + pumas and free repairs for mechanized and lastly, obers + luchs + panthers with a flak gun defense.
every tier has a distinct flavour and gives very good units to complement the core of okw with volks, kubels and sturmpios.
also, to be honest, they need obers to scale up against late game infantry, except for the fact that obers are non doctrinal and lmg34 is too damn effective.
there's nothing wrong with obers but everything is fucked with lmg34. get a rear echelon with lmg34 and he is going to rape stuff for a support infantry. lower the damn dps on that thing, give it abit better stats than the lmg42.
or better yet, make these guys proper doctrinal infantry with a hefty munition cost on the lmg34 if its going to stay that way. there's no reason that there are falls/JLI /other building spawning infantry together with obers. they should really limit insane dps elites to 1 type per game. |
