Ya but the game isn't being patched particularly well. That's the point. Each new patch twists things and just screws things up even more while attempting to balance something else. I've said it 100 times already, but, to me, this game lacks a clear vision in what it wants the meta to be. Further, they have yet to address basic issues with the game (technical, chat rooms, lobbies, leaderboards, etc) and have failed to reinstate player morale after a lackluster release. Instead of asking people to buy new commanders, they should be asking themselves why many people have quit playing or are playing less. *Hint - It's not because they want to PAY more for features that you aren't providing already* Why sell DLC commanders that will just haunt the balance of this game further and compound what seems to be an already arduous task? Why not improve the state of the game you have first (the aforementioned basic issues), let it settle, and then release the dlc? Maybe then the community will be more willing to shell out money for DLC with a game in a stable state. They might be excited additions to the game instead of being overly speculative. Also, the price point of these items is just ridiculous. Different regions paying less or more? Give me a break. What are we not in a globalized society? Relic has to pay shipping costs on Steam or something? In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: How I feel about paid commanders.10 Nov 2013, 21:32 PM
You're missing vital information. You probably should do some research before you write such an expanded post of misinformation and telling me to "get real". VCoH or Vanilla COH = Wehr vs US - That was what COH was like out of the box. The British and PE were then added through subsequent expansion "packs" - Tales of Valor/Opposing Fronts which cost something like 30 bucks a piece, might have been more at release. Most people ended up paying over 100 bucks for the entire CoH experience. Again, with the release of OF and ToV half of the initial COH community left because they disagreed with the way this new group of developers were taking the game. It was not a very good experience. There was, I'd say, one good community-agreed upon state of balance for the final version of COH and that was the patch prior to the final one. I may be wrong there. It's a simple conclusion. The people who bought this game are getting screwed by lackluster service and features that are now elementary by industry standards. What Relic has done to CE purchasers is pretty much a shame and will guarantee loss of future profits on this particular franchise. Further, what they are planning to implement with this DLC model is a general slap in the face of the dedicated players of their game. Whether you think it costs you 20 cigarettes or a night out on the town to purchase this dlc is irrelevant. Using your analogy, if I forced you to buy 20 cigarettes in order to get laid on your night out, you'd probably be pretty pissed. In: Lobby |

Because I paid 60+ dollars to be able to. I asked for my money back very quickly after release as well, publicly on this forum. Plus, I hate to see people kiss other people's ass for no good reason what so ever. What you don't understand is that the supporting framework to hold up and support this kind of system simply doesn't exist in this game or @ the Relic office. Archaic network stability, technical issues with blizzards, I've been over this 1 million times in other threads. Christ, there are STILL NO FUCKING CHAT LOBBIES OR ACCESSIBLE LEADERBOARDS SAVE FOR A COMMUNITY FAN SITE. It's a complete regression from their last effort. Yet, they want to charge you dupes for more commanders that will throw the balance out of the window for God knows how many weeks until some savior patch comes (insert a picture of you bending over thanking them and asking for another), and then BOOM more commanders. The cycle starts all over again. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit. Like fucking wake up, seriously. If Relic wanted this game to not suck, they'd address all the technical issues and all the other basic crap that makeup not just an rts but a basic 21st century online video game FIRST. They'd pump money into promoting tournaments and feedback that could give them more data for how the game should go from here. They'd deal with sync hacks/drop hacks/all known cheating issues. They'd institute community outreach programs like this: ***HEY FILL OUT THIS ONLINE SURVEY ABOUT TECHNICAL AND GAMEPLAY ISSUES AND GET THIS NEW COMMANDER*** ^^^That's a decent approach to start with. Right now it looks like "Hey, buy these commanders, trust us. We'll fix the game." Meanwhile their trust rating is about as good as the people who keep drop/sync hacking in their game without any recourse - fucking shady at best. In: COH2 Gameplay |

You paid 100 for a preorder where you knew exactly what you were getting. Period. Stop trying to make it more than it seems and own up to your poor financial judgement. All the information was there right in front of you. This silly argument needs to stop, because the entirety of your butthurtness seems to emanate from that. I don't have the collector's edition. Although I can totally identify with those who did and felt screwed. In: COH2 Gameplay |

Con!, If you played COH you would know that before the game was "stale", as you understand it, it was almost unplayable because Relic refused for the longest time to do anything about Kangaroos being into your base by 7 minutes and then crushing your troops over and over again. Before that, trenches and gliders crushed all your people. The PE infantry spam and ACs were ridiculous. ToV represents this shift where relic nose dived from legendary to comically insane. VCoH and CoH+TOV were done by separate teams if I remember correctly. The TOV expansion caused ridiculous problems to the game essentially ruining a perfect rts and running off over 3/4s of the initial community. Guess who is in charge of this game? The track record simply isn't there. Nothing that they have said or done in this game thus far has been anything to the contrary of a big fucking letdown and this is about to make it even worse. Mark my words. In: Lobby |

First of all, I have issue with your last sentence. Some people paid 100 bucks on a preorder and then got royally fucking screwed by Relic. I mean they were just T-total shafted, and the people who bought the CE were probably the most loyal of COH fans. Not even an apology was uttered. It was more of a passive aggressive comment that came from Noun of, "We never said that" Further, so because something "works" (the limits of the definition of work are up for debate here) that's ok in late 2013 to warrant a total price of a 150$ mediocre at best video game? Wolfenstein worked too. I fucked Hitler up something fierce. I paid 10 bucks or something. That being said, it's one thing if they charged these micro-transactions and had an established record of updates and a clear cut vision for this game. Unfortunately, they don't and they haven't since the ToV team took over from the last game. Each patch has been a massive clusterfuck of change. It will be a never ending cycle and when this turnip has been fully bled, Relic will bounce to another game or be disbanded, which ever comes first, with their loot. Only the daft don't see the pattern which has emerged. To charge money for something that will only cause more headaches for people and require more updates and patches is completely wrong. However, it's genius if you want to sell more assault grens and ostruppen to people who want to win. I think Basilone said it to me best over Steam "This game is for noobs, by noobs" He's exactly right. In: COH2 Gameplay |
