@MajorBloodnok poor use of truck and kubel. Probably playing against an inferior opponent also.
Did he played well, yes. Did his opponent, nope.
That is a totally invalid defense of the "kubel is OP" argument.
Everyone knows that if you can show that the Kubel was at any time countered in some way that it proves the unit is not OP. |
The US built some 200 Calliopes. They were in no way the base of US artillery, which was probably the most reactive, accurate and also powerful artillery in the war. The irony is that the 75mm pack howie was the rarity among US tubes while 105s and 155s were in huge supply and there were also a fair # of 203s.
That said, only 100 50mm Pumas were ever produced, 40 ostwinds, 65 Elefants and 10 Sturmtigers. But those are axis so Relic will include them. |
I'd be shocked if more than 10% of the people who voted they were taking a break are actually leaving. Just crybabies.
And of those 10% really leaving, most haven't been playing for a long time, often since launch.
By definition, only the ones who left and still stuck around COH2.ORG can be included in your first group of "crybabies". Another description for them is "fans of the game who would like to play but hate it the way it is now."
completely excluded from the poll results are those who have left and now don't even bother checking COH2.org or voting in polls. By the count of my friends who used to play... that number could be quite substantial. |
I highly doubt Relic are ignorant of the current situation. Contrary to what the community thinks they aren't blithering idiots, they just make mistakes sometimes (like all of us).
Anyway, I think if the Kubel situation was rectified the match-up would be in a pretty good state. Other concerns like BARs and Pathfinders being too weak are valid, but are hardly breaking the faction. Most of things people are suggesting would basically break US faction design or make them hilariously OP. For instance, reliance on Rifles and lack of a heavy tank are intended properties of US faction design, and changing that would just make them generic. I personally don't want every faction to be a variation on the same template, I'd rather the each had their own playstles that are balanced and fun but diverse.
The broken Kubel only means that people no longer complain about the broken late game balance because they NEVER GET to the late game.

Technically speaking, OKW are obligated to pick a tier just to counter the Maxim spam that so many Soviets take a liking to.
I agree, I'd rather have the MG-34 teams with proper suppression put back onto them, but what are you gonna do? Kubels just don't scale well, and die with some focused rifle fire very quickly. Even a maxim will kill a Kubel very quickly.
You make it sound like Soviets have so many strat choices and they only pick Maxim spam to annoy the opponents. Do you not think they have wanted and asked for different ways to play? |
Re: Jumbo Sherman
There were more than 260 of these built and used in combat in late 1944. That means more of these were fielded than Elephants, Ostwinds, sturmtigers and 50mm Pumas put together.
They were considered essentially impervious to any AT gun from the front.
Despite that, the allies didn't go forward with making more. They found them too limited in speed, maneuverability, and cross country ability.
The Sherman really did have values that aren't modeled in COH. They were very mechanically reliable. Performed well in their designed role (breakouts). Were easy to repair even after having been knocked out.
This helped make possible many of the breakneck chases of the US Army through France and at Remagen, and the complete turn of the 3rd Army front during the Battle of the Bulge. All of them were operations because of opportunity and not planning. |
You do realize USF army are based on battle of bulge?
You do realize pershing arrived to Europe months after that, therefore its unrealistic to ask for it?
First 20 Pershings arrived in Antwerp in January of 1945.
That is more than all the Sturmtigers ever built. |
Let's get a tier structure that allows Soviets to use the units they already have. |
Are you really going to keep posting on these forums then?
You don't even have the game installed and you don't want people to buy it, so go away please.
As for on-topic, Maxims do full damage to Kubels even when pinned and M3 scout cars can do some damage with a supporting squad. USF have to really work to outmaneuver Kubel to kill it.
A) Of course I can keep posting here if I am going to be constructive. (And by the way, boycotting USF purchases is probably the most constructive way to promote more effort to balance by Relic.)
B) I still hope one day they learn to balance this game as I would like to play the game we all think it could be. I spent hundreds and hundreds of hours playing COH1, and that is most of my total game time as being a family man and a business owner I don't have a lot of free time. |
This is a #L2NP issue (learn not to play).
Don't play USF. Just bad. Tell your friends not to and ESPECIALLY tell them not to buy it.
I uninstalled the game so my friends wouldn't be able to talk me into playing as I sometimes forget how little fun I now have. |
