I agree that Artillery is pretty AIDS in its current implementation, it's simultaneously oppressive and laughably weak, dependent on what commander your opponent brings.
I made a thread a few weeks back on how artillery might be changed to be a little less awful, but it's certainly out of scope for the Balance Team.
Also: I think that the B4 is my most despised artillery piece/unit, it's an absurd RNG cannon that either does nothing at all, or instantly deletes expensive medium tanks. It's absolutely no fun to fight, even if it can be "satisfying" to obliterate a P4J with a lucky scatter roll. ("Satisfying" in quotes, as i really don't understand how something you don't really control can be satisfying) |
I would remove the camo from it though. I dont think camo and anti-tank gun should be mixed but thats just my opinion lol.
What about the (far better) camo that Soviet AT guns can get through doctrines? I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to replacing the Rak's Camo with some other ability, I very rarely use the Camouflage.
Also: As Spoof said, I think I'd rather have the PAK40 than the Raketen, Target Weak Point, along with (universally?) better statistics is something I'd absolutely trade for the ability to retreat the damn thing. |
You can actually use it fairly well in a garrison since the patch. When entering a garrison it will fire at everything, but after a refacing order it will stick to its now default vehicle priority.
So if you got time to set it up (reface it 1-2 times) then it will actually work properly now.
Oh, really? Nice to hear that this issue is (partially) fixed, then. Hopefully a solution will be found that means we won't need to fiddle around like that in the future, too. |
But then why is he not saying that it were merely the lucky timings? Why does he claim to have seen the units and reacted to them, which is objectively impossible?
That's what I don't get. He seems to be a proven liar as far as I can tell. 1. He's denying to have played on Deadbolt after the warning which is untrue. 2.The above mentioned claim about the vision.
"I saw them" would normally be a better excuse than "I got lucky lmao". The fact that he apparently couldn't have seen means he seems to have shot himself in the foot, though, and perhaps exposed that he likely was being a bit of a naughty boy.

Yes, Raketenwerfer is absolutely terrible, especially when it can be garrisoned, can be retreated and isn't as vulnerable as the wehraboos make it out to be.
Garrisoning the Rak is generally a bit pointless. It can't be made to target only vehicles, nor can it be made to hold fire completely. It often wastes fire on infantry, which is an issue when a vehicle then appears.
Being retreatable is also a bit of a double edged sword, it theoretically lets you escape with your Rak from a bad situation, but it also means that a Rak that the enemy HAS been able to decrew is much easier to steal, just like an MG or Mortar.
(Also the retreat behaviour is really annoying, picking itself up, spinning to face the base, and only THEN beginning to accelerate away. Raks eat a lot of grenades that a non-retreating AT gun would just reverse to escape from.)
It's a good AT gun, but it's hardly OP since the stealth rework. I generally wish I had a PAK or 57mm when I play OKW. |
Worrying that proven map hackers get banned once every couple of weeks but someone impersonating the community manager gets banned immediately.
Ostensibly impersonating a CM is more immediately provable, and potentially more immediately damaging to Lelic as a company/brand. I can see why it was jumped on quickly, especially given that the CM is brand new and they likely want first impressions to be positive.
I should like to see them do more to combat cheating, though. |
????????
Why are you counting when the first rockets appear? Bottom right you can see the ability activation icon. The barrage ability was activated before the first unit was sighted.
Exactly, units have their own "reaction" time governed by turnspeed and animation lengths, you have to look at ability activations rather than when an unit actually "acts". (Unless even the unit acting is quicker than a realistic reaction time, at which point it's kind of obvious something fishy is occurring.) |
Idk, for me prsonally its always felt like vCoH had much much more distinct sound clues. If I remember it correctly, units had voice lines saying what unit is attaking them and even if unit had lets say SMGs or not. CoH2 on the other hand has much more generic audio cues for most of the situations.
I think OST and SOV have a lot of lines for specific opposing units/vehicles attacking them, but OKW/USF/UKF were seemingly released before they were quite "ready", and so they haven't got quite so many "unique situation" lines, nor were OST and SOV given any lines referring to any of the "new" armies. Other indicators include: USF and UKF's lack of "real" winter uniforms (Especially for their Mainlines, even OKW has an unique uniform for "winter" volks), UKF and OKW's lack of team weapon crew models, etcetera, etcetera.
I think some may have been disabled for OST and SOV, too, as I've heard a lot of unused lines on youtube that have various units referring to particular other units.
Its a shame, I think many of CoH2's problems were caused by crunch/panicking about their financial situation around release. If they'd have had more time CoH2 would have been superior to CoH1 in /every/ way.
Here's hoping AoEIV is a massive success, and they then are given adequate time to polish CoH3 , which I am hoping we'll see. (CoH2 DLC/engine updates would be a fine alternate scenario) |
Or that somehow there's such a level of desync, in the realm of 1 to 2 seconds (around 30/60 frames difference for a non +720p60f yt vid)
The other part of this, as I mentioned before, is that if the game were Desynched, it wouldn't be desynched in a way that would make people appear to react FASTER to events, the game would have to be sending information to a player before it actually occurred for that to happen. If there's desynch, players would appear to have much slower reactions than normal.
Unless Lelic put replays together in a very arcane manner, i suppose, but I'd like to see any evidence of that. |
If you time it right at a forward retreat point for example, it can be quite devastating. It is all about using it at the right moment. Calling it down on a blob will do nothing if your opponent isn't afk.
You have to wait for the right opportunity.
What I mean to say is that i despise them when I'm playing Axis. It's extremely difficult (if not impossible, in some cases) to escape from the AOE with team weapons, and as you say; if you call it on an FRP with good timing, you can obliterate a LOT of units.
Its a good ability, I just don't like being on the receiving end. |
