I just wish they had given assault guards the regular guard 0.97 RA instead of 100% RA.
There's some other weird things about the unit too, like the squad not taking up any population (the soldiers inside the squad still do, but the squad itself has a population value of 0).
The Halftrack being used by the call-in is also an entirely separate ebps, which makes me wonder if they couldn't like, I don't know, add some extra utility or abilities to it, like the repair aura from the one Ardennes campaign mission or some sort of healing or something other than the stock Maxson quadmount.
The rest of the doctrine is actually quite fine imo, it's just relatively lackluster in the current heavy tank dominated meta. The 76mm Sherman itself is actually very good... Of all the units that need work in the Soviet roster or any roster for that matter it is an odd unit to single out considering its very high ROF with normal rounds and very good penetration (and better accuracy at cost of reload) on the selectable APCR rounds.
If I had to make any nitpick at all I'd honestly consider it pretty cool if regular guards were added in as well, since Sherman tanks were specifically used by guards armored units, but the assault guards already fulfil that role even if limited in availability by the halftrack they are bundled with.
On the note of the assault guards, it would also be really nice if the balance team could change the name of the unit ingame to match them being a distinct unit from regular guards. Right now they are still called "Guards Rifle Infantry" or whatever, same as regular guards. I would prefer they specifically be called "Guards Assault Troops" or something. |
Your logic is correct. T34/85 and E8 are "upgraded" versions of the normal medium tanks, so, they should have more health. Ok. I respect that.
But then why the P4 ausf "J" doesnt follow the same idea? It has 640 as the normal P4.
Panzer IV J was a downgrade that should actually be a worse tank overall.
It'd actually be kind of cool though if they gave it slightly higher HP (maybe 720 like the M4A3E8), but far slower turret traverse and worse visibility.
That or it could be cheaper without the bonus HP, since that was the intention of the J series anyway. |
A change here simply isn't needed.
If anything at all were to be changed it could be making RM rifle grenades unlocked by the grenade tech (with Vet 1 remaining an alternative requirement) since that would be a simple enough solution and encourage grenade unlock. |
Then there should be no problem even if it was the worse...Unit is simply Op.
It should have its cost reduced and performance adjusted maybe down to 50 MU?
I don't really see why it needs changing at all tbh. It's not like the soviets get access to pintles on their tanks (doctrinal IS-2, M4C and ISU-152 notwithstanding) or light vehicles to otherwise fulfill AA purposes, so in team games it fits a niche nothing else will. If it is the opinion of the community that the M5 is too good by itself than sure, but so far I haven't really seen that to be the case; everyone just wants other AA to be on it's level, which I don't really agree with in any case. |
-I'll argue that all AA should work at the same power level as the Quad. While you can field AA on teamgames, it's a luxury and a conscious decision on 1v1.
Fielding the Quad, specifically, is a luxury in a 1v1. Ostwinds are not, Centaurs are not, and one could argue even the USF and OKW AA HTs have their place in the meta. Only the M5 is absolutely 200% removed from the 1v1 meta.
So I really have no issue with it being the best since its basically useless for any other purpose in the late game and rare to appear earlier in any case. |
Restore bug that allowed shrecks AND g43s on one squad
Give their schrecks bonus accuracy vs infantry and full damage, and allow them to fire on move (.95 moving acc obviously)
Possibly turn 1 model into fully functional sniper at vet 1? I think yes
Needs an IR Stg added as well. |
Riflemen snare is fine as is. Vet 1 is also pretty easily attained when fighting vetted units (unvetted units fighting vetted ones gain extra veterancy).
Worst comes to worst, adding bazookas grants bare minimum AT capability and faster veterancy versus vehicles. |
i know you are trolling, but button SHOULD be cheaper since panzer tac instantly counters it despite button also requiring a costly upgrade first
before anyone goes off, id like to point out that the UC self repair was increased in price because a snare would cost more than the ability meaning you could trade damage for a net positive exchange of munitions. either ptac should go up or button should go down, im thinking the former since the latter could throw off the soviet muni economy and make lights easier to kill.
TBH, I agree, and I think the UC repair nerf in particular was stupid and unnecessary considering it can't even be repaired by normal means in the early game, but I will say that Panzer Tactician being doctrinal sort of (and I do mean "sort of") justifies it being such an easy counter to the button ability, which if I am being honest I don't believe I've ever really tried to seriously use. |
Except Panzershreks on Panzergrenadiers is not meta and most top players hate the MG42 for its nonexistent traverse.
I don't really want to be a part of this back-and-forth, but I should say that Panzershrek PzGrens are a pretty common sight with players rushing T3. |
iot should be 10 seconds at least. Otherwise the 40 ammo is useless
I agree, the ability should be cheaper as well.
I also think guards PTRS rifles should get 300 penetration in order to make them more useful. Likewise guards need a lower received accuracy in order to avoid being zoned out by infantry or vehicle MGs so easily so they can perform this ability more often. Maybe 0.8 target size? Alternatively one could try damage reduction.
Maybe buff the DP lmgs too so they get the JLI insta-kill crit, and give them 8 damage per shot. A price reduction might also help.
I think then maybe this unit will finally be balanced. |
