They are just not as overpowering as they were, but that strat is toned down, not killed off.

Wait was the goal killing off ostruppen? Or was the goal toning them down?

Well, they did received a numerous vet improvements and adjustments that make them much more potent much earlier then old ones did and there still is a possibility they crept too strong too early, preview games with average players aren't going to show that unless all the tops hop in to contribute.

They had 16% of vet3 accuracy shifted to vet 2. This is nothing compared to 7 man conscripts, rifelman mid range buff, and section out-of cover buffs which have all occurred afterwards or in the same patch.

And now its a faction with highest winrate.
We won't see how big of a factor osttruppen alone were(they they were significant one) until patch hits live and more good players put hands on it.

Do you have data for this? I can't find anything within the past 6 months.

T2 used to be more expensive back then... the argument doesnt necessarily hold since T2 is cheaper now...

in any case pgrens need taken a look at because they are OP in their current state...

The same patch that reduced t2 cost moved pgrens IIRC.


I was a big proponent for making pgrens accessible earlier at the time it happened. I actually wanted them to stay in t2, but this would have required other changes to keep the 222 at it's current timing.

Another is grens bleed manpower like crazy too as 4 man squads lose models much quicker than 5-7 man squads.

I wouldn't say they bleed primarily, but the problem with the hot nor cold balancing forces you to choose between manpower bleed, or map control. Yes a gren squad can beat a conscript squad if you play well, but the low damage at long range means you can't contest a capping squad without closing in.

Ideal gren positioning will slowly lose you the whole map.

Same as said before, mortar range is 75 and 80 for the rest.

I got 65 range from the patch notes. Either way I'd still increase whatever the current range is by at least 15 units in order to reduce the amount of repositioning required.

Concept wise is something that COULD be tried but you have to tackle some other issues.
I THINK, due to animation constraint, the absolute limit on fastest RoF is +4s (wind up + wind down). With minimal ready/aim times your reload component is practically 0 or close to it. It would be close to how smoke barrage looks.

I wasn't aware of animation restrictions. The ROF increase isn't absolutely necessary per se since under this idea ROF can be traded for greater AOE radius. The only reason I've increased the ROF is to keep the AOE radius reasonably smaller than stuff like the leFH. If no one would complain about something like a 10 AOE radius I'd actually prefer keeping the current ROF for sound reasons.

What are you doing with barrage mode? Do you leave it as it is now or do you change their profile as well? I think it could work having this 2 different kinds of dmg profiles.

As long as one mode can actually punish blobs I honestly don't care about the difference between barrage and auto-fire. In my ideal world barrage would be a blob skill-shot that suppresses if there are at least two squads in the radius, but I feel like that's too big of a change. Realistically I'd just keep them the same and buff auto-fire to be the blob punisher since the current barrage mechanic doesn't really do anything extra against moving targets.

Auto attack (AA) will have to have some sort of target tables because their performance against garrison, vehicles and structures would be affected severely. I don't know how target tables interact with AOE profiles. If they are applied before calculations or after.

I'm not entirely sure how AOE and garrisons work, but I don't think the suggested changes would affect that too much. I did my best to preserve the current DPS against single targets, but increase it against grouped targets.

As long as you ignore every other single stat on the 120mm. Mortars were nerfed so much that now the 120mm offensive perfomance is fine comparatively while it still ridden with other values which makes it bad compared to the normal stock mortar. The only way you can justify it is either you have a perfect position to afk behind a hedge and still hit an OKW Flak HT/BHQ or you somehow went T1.

120mm as a whole might not be the best mortar as a whole; however, the starting point of this derail was people criticizing me for using it as the best DPS mortar to compare against a maxim.

I also don't know why you used the 120mm mortar since its damage output compared to other mortars is actually hampered by its rate of fire. In both cases(standard and 120) I hope you used the barrage.

The 120 is considered worse than other mortars.

120mm is the highest DPS mortar. Even then two maxims are better than a maxim and 120mm in the ideal "combined arms" scenario where mortars are supposed to shine.

This shouldn't have been controversial at all, but people are consistently allowed to derail threads with completely baseless and ignorant goal-post shifting that a whole thread page is wasted proving that even the best DPS mortar has anemic damage.
