Honestly all core infantry should be able to build sandbags by default. I’d like to see captured weapons as their upgrade. Pay 45 munitions (amount to be adjusted as necessary) to randomly get one allied LMG either a BREN, BAR or a DP-28. These would represent the large number of captured weapons like Chezk ZB-28, Polish BARs and Soviet DP-28s that the Germans gave to their rear echelon units. In: COH2 Balance

Flavor? We could put something actually useful and possible to balance in its place. Okw has too many high impact infantry squads to add increased mobility to the faction. I’m merely trying to point out that there are many ways to balance an open top transport unit given that OKW players start out with Sturm pioneers that can pop in and turn it into a very powerful clown car. Having an infantry transport doesn’t mean they need to be shooting out of it while moving and chasing done squads on retreat. There is still plenty of reasons to use one for flanking or scouting or back capturing. Example: Sturm Pioneers in a 250 HT with poor moving accuracy can still: Capture enemy territory. Flank HMG teams and then stop to engage or disembark to engage. Move your repair squad to a tank that has a broken engine faster than walking. Rush an infantry squad and park next to them forcing them to retreat. Move the squad to the flanks to plant mines in enemy rear areas when the battle is on the other side of the map. There are lots of reasons why mobility doesn’t have to be over powered, but still useful. In: COH2 Balance

Give the squad leader a rifle with the model of a smg. Adding another man onto the squad is enough already, giving said man a better weapon than the rest of the squad is just too much imao. The exact stats of the weapon could be significantly different than what other other versions of it are. You could make an StG44 that fires in either semi auto or in short bursts that isn’t nearly as powerful as the version Panzergrenadiers get for example. That’s also why I suggested that an MP40 could be a viable option. Bad long range damage means that it would contribute little directly to the squads outgoing firepower, but the received accuracy buff the leader gives the squad plus his own extra model of health significantly helps at all ranges by helping survivability. The short range power of an MP40 wouldn’t change the role of the squad into an assault unit, but instead help it repel assaults on it as I already mentioned above. In short, I agree with you. Thread: SOV: Move T-34/76 to T3 and make T-34/85 non-doc/T47 Jun 2019, 20:45 PM Problem: T-34/76 is not present in very many games. Reason: Soviets have better options for the role that come at lower cost, causing little incentive to tech up. Solution 1: Reduce cost of T-34/76 to make it more attractive as a late game unit or a rushed shock unit. Solution 2: Change Soviet tech requirements to you can build T3 or T4 once T1 or T2 is built, but increase the price of the T4 building. This also makes rushing for a T-34/76 more viable without changing the actual stats or cost of any unit, just the tech order and cost of tech. (I prefer this solution.) In: COH2 Gameplay

I’m still gonna say that a reworking of the Jackson and M10 being made non doctrinal is a good way to address the “Jackson beats everything” problem. I suppose if Panzer IVs had bad penetration like Shermans and then you take away the light/economic option by removing the StuG III, then you’d have a similar situation and all you’d see is Panthers. The fix for the Jackson being so prevalent is to give USF more options, like the M10. In: COH2 Balance

I don't think that the STG44 would be a good choice. It would probably be too good if it has a similar profile to volk STG and the squad would become too similar to volks(5 man K98s and STG44s). I think that these squads should feel different. Though, I don't think this change is necessary, and the balance team should probably focus on other stuff. In terms of making it feel different, I think the StG fits the role the best to differentiate VSL Grens from other WM units. Currently WM can get MP40 equipped Grenadiers as Assault Grenadiers, G43 equipped Grenadiers with the G43 upgrade, MG42s as the standard upgrade and another type of G43 upgrade as the current VSL upgrade. An StG44 upgrade to Grens would be different, as the only unit that currently gets StG44s in WM are PanzerGrenadiers. OKW overuses StG44s in their faction design, just like WM overuses MP40s and underuses Kar98ks. I’d like to see Relic look at real tables of organization and equipment when they make CoH 3. At least as a baseline for core units. I mean just look at production numbers. 400,000 StGs of all types vs 1,100,000 MP40s vs 14,000,000 Kar98ks! For every StG in the game there should be roughly 2 MP40s and 35 Kar98ks! In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: M36 Jackson7 Jun 2019, 13:59 PM If a USF player goes for an M8A1 Scott early in his build order he is wide open to get rushed or out maneuvered by a well managed Panzer IV. There are a thousand ways to counter a Scott and the easiest is to just build more Panzer IVs so you have a larger armored force. He will have spent fuel on indirect fire that can’t hurt your tanks so now unless you squander your advantage you can bully his forces with a local advantage in armor. Try maneuvering and play to your own strengths, not his. In: COH2 Balance

An German tank that isn’t super good!? Say it ain’t so! You mean the real life Sturm Tiger was a dismal failure because it was too expensive and overly specialized and so is the one in game?
