assengies have no ability to build cover, they can't even build sandbags, not meantioning tank traps. And elite crews actually provides +0.5 per model repair speed bonus, so no point building them to repair something. So what is the point of this engineering unit if it is, like it was said before, as alternative mainline that can build barbed wire and lay mines? Assgrens can actually flank and have very nasty nades, while assengies have flamethrower.
Cav rifles have worse stats and vet bonuses, yet is more useful unit then this.
Sturm pios can't build any of that shit either and they cost even more.
They're literally translated to assault engineers. They're not mainlines either.

USF has so much smoke it's not even funny. We don't need one squad army infantry. If you tech to tanks, you will have 3 squads of infantry with the capability to smoke without actually having to try and get em.
You still have to tech smoke. Rangers arrive without need for that.

I guess the three man commandos that got a grenade in their face after their insertion would say otherwise. Since they hit combat with only three man at the moment of their insertion out of an ambient building its not irrelevant and a part of balance. It is just not relevant anymore thereafter, there is only a time window where it is relevant.

no, they are not. On average Axis squad size is smaller, especially stock and especially with OST. AFAIK all Axis elite infantry are 4 men (obers, JLIs, PGrens and Stormtroopers). All have extremely low RA though.
Engies are mostly 4men.
With SOV only partisans are 4 men (except ppsh).
USF - paths and vehicle crews.
UKF nobody after bolster.
That was only true for Vanilla. Counting in doctrinal units you have squad sizes from 4-6, at every faction with the exception

You just look at IS coming out at 280MP a 4man squad vs wehr 240MP also 4 man squad.
wehr have access to :
-FREE LMG upgrade
-FREE Snare
-FREE grenade
So 3 Squads of fully upgraded grenadier is 720MP
Now with new reduction, 3 Squads of 5 mans with grenade and bren Infantery section is 1115 MP !
Let's make each gren cost 370 then, great idea. We'll ignore the part where teching is necessary for half the shit you listed. |
