I do agree with VSL is worst choice, yet disagree with g43. They are pretty descent weapon if you ask me. But the play style just don't fit with WM.
Most of the time WM needs to counter enemy attack & push little by little with pak + mg. LMG gren helps in long range to whomever trying to get close. While g43 is more of a blob & cut enemy retreating path. Making gren more aggressive. But not really fit into the play.
However, what you can do is spam g43 gren & go for the blob...
Which is kinda fun for one or two games. But why whould one play WM if that's how they are gonna play it. And 4 man is very risky squad to get aggressive after all.
That's exactly the point of Ambush, to give it a viable playstyle and a niche role where G43 Grens can be used defensively in an effective way |
.
I still think vsl is even worse than g43 grens, trading firepower for more mp bleed. Staying power really doesn't make sense as losing a model is almost the same as 4 man grens. This staying power is mostly mainly used snaring stuff which sprint can do better. VSL also cost more than lmg, need extra manpower to reinforce. Meanwhile g43 commanders like JLI can have sprint and will be more useful. LMG still better most of the time.
Not most, all the time. Model 24 is a nice upgrade, having the benefit of ambush as option in a single 60 munition upgrade would make it worth taking over MG42 upgrade probably, by making Jäger infantry packed with abilities and utilities over mg42 dps
I do agree that VSL is bad. I think that lowering their reinforce cost to 24 (the reinforcement cost of a 240 mp 5 men squad) would make it a competitive option |
Problem is this is basically the 76MM Sherman and the problem has always been being able to differentiate the flavors of Sherman. If 76MM is the "able to swap to better AT generalist" then E8 should probably be a bit different.
Should it? I don't think it would be that bad to have 76mm and E8 identical and have E8 be a more expensive, better armored and faster tank. |
Osttrupped overbuff aside, G43 Grenadiers aren't that much more viable at all imo. Instead of further buffing their raw power, one could try different option that better suit the ability theme.
Suggestion:
Merge Jäger Light Infantry and Ambush Camouflage, renamed Jäger light infantry training
Replace Ambush Camouflage with Breakthrough Equipment in the Jäger Infantry Doctrine and Encirclement Doctrine, and with Assault and Hold in the Storm Doctrine
|
Or they could just introduce a 222 upgrade for the 221 behind a tech lock so if you want to use it in combat you can.
I wouldn't do that, this risks overlapping with OKW light vehicles and create a new meta with a doctrinal vehicle replacing luchs/flak ht. Also the 222 with OKW may prove truly oppressive. I think the only stats upgrade it needs is faster veterancy and kubelwagen mg penetration. The problem with the 223 is that it is EXTREMELY expensive for its performances because of the lockdown ability, which is why i think that giving its armor and health bonuses with just a munition cost is far more reasonable. Alternatively, the lockdown ability may be tied to veterancy 4/5 and the radio upgrade just bring detection, health and armor bonus |
The new Sturmtiger seems pretty reliable and therefore good now. But i havent used it against (real) players yet, so im not sure if its broken or not.
About the 221/223. That unit just isnt good against infantry or light vehicles.
-The Kubel is better at supporting squads than the 221.
-The cost of the 223 (i think 320mp and 30 fuel) is way to high for the unit. The combat upgrade is bad. It struggels against Vickers-UC (lol).
-The passiv income boost is good i suppose, but most maps (2vs2) dont allow it to be placed on the fuel. And i wont pay 30 fuel+ 4 popcap to get more munition income.
Nobody wants to give OKW an oppressive light vehicle, so a straight combat buff or timing buff is out of the window.
Imo either adjust the upgrade cost from mp/fuel to munition or let the unit be decent against aircraft (maybe 222 lvl).
+1
The lockdown ability could be tied to another upgrade, while the armor and health buff could come with just a munition upgrade. This way it mantains the same timing but isn't overly expensive as light vehicle.
The current design punishes players using the 223 as combat unit |
Cav Rifles use Grease Guns before they upgrade to Thompsons and it fit the profile you were talking about. Honestly I wouldn't be against just doing what they did to Heavy Fortifications for OKW and smashing Advanced Infantry Equipment + Rifleman Field Defenses together, then throwing Cav Rifles into Rifle Company. Would make the doctrine infinitely better.
Cavalry Rifles come in Mechanized because they are supposed to be Mechanized infantry. This is also why they should have Grease Guns. It wouldn't fit Rifle Company, the doctrine should be centered around Riflemen and RE |
At this point just put Cav Rifles into Rifle Company. (I think the weapon you're looking for is Grease Guns btw)
Meh, Grease Guns in game are for engineers and vehicle crews, and doesn't exactly seem advanced either. There's a ton of nonsensical weapon variants and profiles in game, I don't see the issue with common soldiers handling an smg worse than Rangers. Cavalry Rifles can't be your mainline infantry
There are 2 version of Thompson "elite" used by paras/ranger/assault guards and officer Thompson used by officer/Cav/Assault IS
Eh, that is still too powerful, barely lower dps than a single paratrooper thompson, the difference is the numbers mostly |
thompson is one of the best smg in the game. Adding one man + 3 thompson to RM will just smash all axis.
Witch is...fine for me I guess...?
They should have a nerfed version, similar to mp40 with Stormtroopers and Assault Grenadiers, with the latter having slightly over half the dps. |
Alternatively for Rifle Company, since the slot has fired up and RE flamethrower, instead of puttin in the lmg upgrade, which doesn't fit "advanced infantry equipment", it could have as "assault package", adding one man and 3 thompson smgs for riflemen. Supposed to be the equivalent of conscripts ppsh. |
