How useful is that actually? For LMG grenadiers, its counter productive, you don't want squads to get that close to you before you open fire. Why would you want to? So you have lower DPS and drop models quicker? There's no point. But for G43, it's not nearly enough. You can't get off a cheeky nade nor do they move into your highest DPS range before you're revealed. I just don't understand the idea behind it. It makes more sense when the balance notes say that it's because grenadiers are so readily available, but for this sprint/snare combo that everyone is talking about, the change does nothing. Exactly Might as well remove it if it's locked from g43 At this point it would be better to keep it just for Panzergrenadiers and team weapons and make it a commando style camo for Panzergrens, maybe bundle with it G43s specifically for Panzergrens so that encirclement and storm get the buff they deserve In: COH2 Balance

Grens are not exactly ideal to use it on point blank. If something being detected earlier allows mg 42 upgraded grens to capitalize their ideal range when enemy detects them to get most out of the situation. Grens G43 are ideal to use use at close range against several opponents, lmg riflemen, bren section, paratroopers, guards and so on, and now that they have a normal grenade it will be even more useful If the issue is the alpha strike they can dish out I could understand the nerf, but apparently the issue is not even related to the nerf. But maybe since this is mostly a problem in Jaeger Infantry Doctrine, shouldn't the nerf mostly be applied to this commander specifically and not all of them? Or would that be too complicated? The patch was rolled back anyway so I don't see the harm in it No you are perfectly right, the other 2 doctrines with ambush camouflage are far from top picks (storm maybe for the lefh and stuka dive bomb in teamgames but there's still better teamgames commanders) Jäger Infantry being a top pick because of camo also seems weird. The doctrine has an anti pak wall off map, flare from KCS and stuka CAS. It is also why it wouldn't change anything overall in terms of doctrine viability, players would just dump even more muni in those abilities. In: COH2 Balance

Grens and Commandos are completely different units with different profiles, function, availability, timing and abilities. In different faction. Even the camo type is different. You are right, Commandos have active sniper-like camo and are up against mostly 4 men squads, which makes the nerf look even more nonsensical. As many pointed out sprinting and snaring is still possible, this nerf just makes the camo unfairly harder to use in its actual intended role, which should be capitalizing on the camo to engage the enemy infantry at your discretion (waiting for bren sections or guards to get closer, using grenades or setting up support weapons) while still keeping the sprint snare as an actual possible option. Besides that, what's the difference between commandos walzing through yellow cover like ninjas and throwing a gammon at your support weapons or infantry? It's far more crippling than forcing more repair time on medium armor In: COH2 Balance

Partisans have now vehicle detection, mines, snares and a Panzerschreck. They are a much better AT ambush unit than Stormtroopers with Panzerschreck. AT partisans will easily be able to single handily take out any unsupported light vehicle, and render any medium tank a sitting duck without any supporting AT unit and even without using mines. On top of that they'll be able to keep infantry off with concussive traps and use the stun status to retreat safely Since we are talking about "real" scenarios Jägers camouflaged and snaring tanks is far from a mine because it needs a supporting unit to connect a penetrating shot and will be easily countered and punished by keeping basic infantry near the tanks. Chances are the Grenadiers at snaring range, bunched up in cover, will get obliterated by the combined alpha strike of the tank and any supporting infantry fire. Even if your tank is a sitting duck you made the ostheer player bleed heavily and he will keep an infantry squad off the battlefield. Sorry, maybe I'm being short sighted but I can't see this being a viable strategy In: COH2 Balance

Realistically you should keep a squad in cover stationary waiting for enemy tanks, and the camo isn't even commando style camo allowing it to sprint between covers undetected. In: COH2 Balance

What you'd want is a reduction in reinforcement cost, and an increased speed of reinforcement. (I'd want a sixth man, too, but this would be part of what would pretty much be a total rework of the unit) Volks don't need to /fight/ better in the lategame, OKW have Obers and other elite infantry for that. Volks just need to do what conscripts do, and be a meat wall that's hard to kill efficiently. This is the case early, but not late.
