Counter blob with blob? I've had a decent efficiency with 2 squads of PzGrens with schrecks and maybe 2 gren squads with mg34. Usually i try to scavenge additional weapons dropped by enemy. Snare with Faust, flank and schreck it in the butt. Works -50% of times, every time
If you spread out the blob a bit, and bring in support, either AT gun, or stug/pz4, it's easy to take out single tanks. If enemy blobs with tanks, then Ostheer is totally screwed.
136. Teleport devices were given to Falls and Jaeger infantry scuads so they can apear from every builing in the map
Another theory circulates. The soldiers went hiding in sheds, houses and buildings before the battle started, just waiting for the right moment to jump out of wardrobes, crawl from under the beds etc...
#279 German Scwerer Gustav Railroad artillery appearently had a magazine of 3 shells, which could be fired reasonably fast. And the gun was amazingly accurate! All shells hit within ~50m from each other!
#280 All resources given to a commander were basically dependent on his success. The more ground one commander could control, more supplies were diverted to support the battle. And if the commander was in a pinch he could not expect any extra help from high command. Thus, most battles were practically won in first 5-10 minutes of the engagement.
Funnily, all battles started from quite similar circumstances, normally pioneers/engineers spearheading a massive fight.
Ok, my match didn't bog down. I'm sure it can happen easily, but doesn't need to.
It's not as bad as achelous river, lyon, vire river valley or a few others...
I like that the map isn't a dadgum mirrorimage. I kinda like the idea that there's a little offset on the map which gives no options but to adapt.
Personally i hate "arena" style maps where there's no real difference between sides. And scheldt. I pudding hate scheldt.
Yesterday thought of hidden luchs (cautious movement) and a leIG for OKW, but this combo comes a little late. But in mid-late game it could work as a cheap way to deal with petty fortifications.
That sniper / at combo is actually something new worth trying for! Usually the spotting is the hard part and sadly i don't think it works against mortar pits, as mortar clears AT gun in two or three rounds.
Few years ago me and my mates went to check the battle of the bulge surroundings, a roadtrip to germany/belgium (mostly because we're WW2 enthusiasts, and inspired by COH1 BotB mod). Visited La Gleize and gave hug to the King! It's size is really impressing! Even if there was a pile of metal scrap of similar size, that would be an impressing pile, but a tank! Standing next to it, my head wouldn't even reach to the top of the hull! Trust me, it looks smaller in a picture.
If you look closely, you can see a few dents on the glacis plate, it has two hits from a tank or AT gun and both bounced off.
Does for example accuracy or reload bonus stack? Or does it just add up? I mean, when unit has basic value reload time lets say 10 seconds, you give bulletin -5%, so it takes 9.5 secs to load. It gets veterancy bonus, lets say -20% to reload... Is the new reload time original x 0.8 x 0.95 or original x 0.75? (Just pulled the numbers outta my head)
Just an example. If they do stack up, in some cases bulletins could have a major effect.
Firefly is serious threat even to heavier german tanks. Played against a few of them yesterday, and i had to abort my assaults multiple times. Their worst weakness is german schrecks, so i managed to retreat because my infantry was covering my panther.
I guess FF is the best tool to actually crack the KT or other heavy tanks.
Vet 1 mortar halftrack has delay fuze barrage for double damage... Structures don't run away under fire... A viable option? The mortar HT is also a bit more resistant to counterbarrage from leIG or german mortars... And with the infantry commander, it's only 2 CP.
Always a good mobile support for infantry assaults. Dislodges MG42s, bunkers, and enemy infantry in cover pretty neatly. And in the late game you get the priest which can TOTALLY take care of the structures
