Great work. Some ideas are questionable, though. Also OST halftrack doesn't gain vet from nearby units and the luchs uses the wrong Icon. The cost could go down further as well.
Just giving you guys some ideas about issues plaguing 2v2.
unless you're a modder or you've done mod work or development for a game I'd keep to just being good at it.
Just trying to keep it real here, you're a good player, but I think others might be better off working for Relic.
I disagree.
There should be a balance between game skill and design/modding talent. A bad or biased player will never be able to balance the game, while also a top player with zero understanding of game design will have a hard time actualizing his ideas.
There are other factors as well. Character and attitude. DevM excells in all department IMO, but I am not very familiar with his design philosophy yet.
Im aware of the work required, I spoke to the relic programmers. I know the chance is small, but I have a general idea of what is needed and I dont intend for that to happen anytime soon if it is to happen.
You can give us a general idea about your vision. That would be great.
And thanks for your intention to help the game, it is appreciated. Just don't give up.
Kyle from Relic, please respond to this thread and tell us if you have balance changes coming before 2017. Thanks. If not then tell us if any more balance changes are coming. Thanks.
Please.
I am not kyle but I am going to answer this using common sense.
YES, a balance patch is coming and it will be a comprehensive one. Otherwise they wouldn't invest so much time designing that 'Balance Feedback Form'. But when? That is the question
So in the end I've got to say each to their own. You think the allies needed those buffs and there was nothing wrong with the last patch (Inb4 nah USF mortar OP). While I think %90 of the changes were unnecessary overbuffs for allies which deleted the axis factions from the game installation folder.
Give Ostheer the Panzer III and Puma. It is possible to kill the stuart/Aec/T70 with a teller or pak. But players should be given realistic options. Decisions decisions, it is an RTS and giving players various options is what makes the game interesting. Also allow grenadiers to upgrade to 2x LMG42s, choices choices.
Give OKW cheaper medium vehicles, a 120mm Mortar and allow double upgrades, choices, choices.
The T34 did need a buff vs infantry because it was lackluster. ~It was about alright for the cost.300/80, cmon that is cheaper than a puma.~
Penals did need a buff because they were useless, the problems they have now are related to dropped weapons and the potency of a flamethrower on a larger squad with excellent AI. ~Penals were an L2P unit, rewarded with their veterancy and flamers and were generally OK for the cost.~
The T0 mortar makes USF slightly more interesting to build since there is more than riflle x3 as an opening. ~MG42 and Whermacht as a faction were not and are not supposed to face a USF mortar. Design level feature. BTW, the nade research exist for a reason.~
Allied tank destroyers received, to my recollection few buffs. What did happen was the SU85 was moved to a more reliable heavy tank destroyer, and the Jackson got its sight buff broken up so it could actually kite. ~AFAIK, nobody believed the jackon needed any buff. FireFly oneclick I-Win button was another pointless gimmick. The SU85 now is a heavy tank destroyer with a default maphack ability. Anyhow, AXIS can't use tanks mid and late game mainly due to the Su85 and FireFly silly overbuffs~
Indirect fire from the Allies, again, this is just the USF mortar, no others got buffs to my knowledge.~The Scott, major arty, and few others. As a forum strategist, you should have an updated knowledge about the game and its units~
[pointless flaming]............
~No response warranted~
Ultimately whatever was in the mod was a gift, a place to show off a better version of the game. They took pieces and left others, and in so doing they are responsible, in the entirety, for the current state of the game.~The current number of players online and the lack of enthusiasm for discussing balance on this very forum seem to prove that the changes in the "Competitive Mod" were devastating for the game and Relic as a whole.~
Buff T34s to the point that they perform much better than the PIV+Ostwind combined.
Buff penals rifles to the point that they wipe out retreating squads
Come up with the idea of USF having a T0 mortar
Buff allies tank destroyers to the point that building or calling in a tank as axis is just a waste of resources and a burden on poor pioneers
Buff allied indirect fire to the point that playing as axis on urban map is a nightmare now
Add more gimmicky abilities instead of redesigning the veterancy bonuses
etc
Relic only made one mistake, taking this mod seriously. He is just dodging responsibility for the current state of the game with this "lol relic didn't copy paste my mortar, not my fault" argument.
And it is funny the exclusively allied player keeps focusing on USF mortar and acting as if it is the only balance problem at the moment.
Also the mortar was needed to make USF have some other option than 3 rifles and provides them real utility on city maps where grenades at every engagement are not practical.
You should also remember that the Lt comes with no indirect fire, so having some base of indirect fire for USF is important, otherwise you have to go Cpt to get it.
Then now that the allied factions have no weakness at any stage of a match whatsoever, OST should have their own T2 light tank, double LMGs, and 5 man squads, OKW should have a mortar and much cheaper vehicles etc. you get the idea.
