The 17-pounder isn't a bad unit on paper. It just has the problems all emplacements have: it can't retreat, so if its territory is lost, it is too. That makes it very map dependent and situational. But it is worth building if that situation does arise. Are all the people calling it 'BS strong' talking crap? Yes, definitely. But it's hardly useless either. In: COH2 Gameplay

Short version though is, in 1v1 t4 is essentially useless bar the occassional panther or werfer. Teamgames it's definitly better but I'm curious to see if the community would like to see a slight brummbar armor/hp increase to raise its durability. It currently is the most niche of the tier I'd say and I think a veterancy tune could also be looked at instead. The problem with T4's 1v1 viability imo is it's almost completely reactive: you don't get a Panther unless there's a vehicle you can't use StuGs on: you don't get a Panzerwerfer unless you're facing AT walls. The proactive unit in T4 is the Brummbar, and in its current state it's outperformed by the Ostwind. Personally, I'd like to see its shells sped up like the KV-2. If that's not enough, maybe it could see a durability boost too. It's an Ostheer KV-8: it'd be nice if it were similarly effective without manual targeting. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Ostheer T4 Hot garbage or Actually fine?29 Oct 2019, 20:03 PM Ostheer T4 is largely defined by the fact that you need to tech again for it, so the units it has have to be worth it. The main reason to get T4 as it stands is the Panther, which'll give you armour superiority over doctrinal premium meds against which the StuG and P4 are questionably effective. The Brummbar used to be rushed in 1v1s before its nerfs and the Ostwind's buffs. These days it's more of a teamgame unit, where you really need that durability. The Panzerwerfer is a very useful tool against heavy team weapon strats, but in 1v1 you can usually fight those with maneuver. In: COH2 Balance

Fast enough to easily cover the flanks, above average penetration to fight quite well against both Panzer IVs (despite being cheaper) and deals good damage to infantry. It has a very good timing too. Scales really well with veterancy too. Is it though? Its round is pretty much the same as the Sherman's AP round. and it's a better shot, but what else has it really got going for it? It's more like the Maxim in that it's one of those units you occasionally have to get because nothing else fills the role, but I'd hardly call it good. In: COH2 Balance

And btw rifle company just got reworked, easy8 still sees 0 use. People do when they use Lend Lease. Rifle Company got another ability added to it. That didn't buff it up to the level of Mechanized, Recon and Heavy Cav. In: COH2 Balance

The Easy Eight and M4C are excellent units by any other faction's standards. But in USF, they'll always be compared to the HE-round equipped Sherman or the moronic 75mm bulldozer. In: COH2 Balance

Forcing infantry to be on the move all the time advantages CQC infantry even further and is counterproductive to discouraging blobbing. In: COH2 Gameplay

Stormjäger Weakness by modifiers is a terrible idea, reminiscent of Age of Empires era RTSs where unit x countered unit y just by doing more damage to it and taking less damage from it. Mortars should be adjusted, in a more elegant manner. The game's already full of them. It's how they got Guards to work without their PTRSes decapitating infantry in one shot. In: COH2 Gameplay
