A friend and I both got really bad latency the other day. So bad we just quit. He's Virginia, I'm Atlantic Canada. We can play people anywhere in the world without issue.

I actually have to agree, I swapped from allies to axis this last patch because I swap every now and then. As OKW I'm having a terrible time fighting Soviet T1, and it just gets worse and worse. Bleeding my Volks w/ upgraded STG's vs Penals is just brutal. A squad will grab the AT package and counter lights decently, but they pop out a su76 w/ the fuel control and then my lights are countered. Then they often roll into a Kv-8 flamer and back tech to some ZiS guns, the barrages eat you up, they get an MG out and it's just a bad day. Can't snipe the damn su76 w/ the rak, they die real quick. Volks can't stand up to Penals + MG, and anywhere you try and hard flank is a hefty barrage.
Then when you do get a tank out, you're facing like 1-2 at guns, a penal AT, su76, and you're just dodging shit like a motherfucker...
I think my only choice is to go STUKA and bomb the shit out of him to counter that. But it feels off. Penals do cost more, but I wish they costed less and were less effective? |

No, what makes COH2 fun is the RNG, I think in it's current state there isn't much I'd fix at all. The fix I'd make isn't even RNG based, but it's the walking stuka for OKW able to straight up delete weapon teams, buildings, and infantry a like. I'd make it so weapon teams at least get 1 model left, or at least let it deal less damage to the actual weapons as you tend to lose the team and the weapon due to the high penetration of the stuka. Plus you can counter barrage Katy's effectively cause it's pinpoint.
Stuka is something OKW do need, but I don't know if it needs to be that powerful. On the flip side, playing USF/Brit without any non-doctrinal rocket arty feels bad. You always need a soviet in a team game to do that unless you got some Priests/Calliope/Sexton/Rock Cart love going on. Allies have more options for artillery. I just have no love for how precise the stuka is in a game that has more RNG!

Similiar to how HMG's should all be 4 man (god dammit make the maxim good, drop 6 to 4) but anti tank squads could be lower to 4 man as well. Also, Panzerfusilier.. awkward? not as good as Volks? They are monsters, they deal more DPS than volks and also come with real nades and flares.
I'm down for changing them to a new role because I HATE fighting giant blobs of them because of how effective it can be. But awkward isn't how I would describe them. Awkward would be Obers to me....
I would +1 to the idea of giving them a SINGLE shreck if they remained 5-6 man. But double shreck has to be 4 man only as the durability is too crazy. Sure, USF can throw double zook or IS double Piat but as mentioned above it's different as not only do the weapon profiles differ but the armor you face is different (worse generally). |
We shouldn't reduce the cost of Tier 4 Soviets. Though as stated, it's interesting to note Soviets ALWAYS need tier 4.
But there are plenty of times OST just sits on Tier 3 cause the value of the P4/STUG is so great. They even get more armor upon vetting.
Honestly if the SU76 wasn't so bad people wouldn't really have an issue with it. The unit was OP when it was free barrage city, but now it not only had the barrage nerffed, it costs munitions AND the guns profile was changed for slower reload. I don't get why you apply so many nerfs to a unit at once but you rarely see this unit in a game anymore.
Why? Well the SU85 is actually REALLY good, and the t34 is actually also REALLY good. Kat is great, the Soviet t4 is just GREAT. It's the Tier 3 thats really lack luster, I mean once you lose that first t70 you're unlikely to make another unless you're in the lead. The suppression from the half track is pretty terrible, so not many people go that route.. the su76 was explained.
Some of this could also be because... well the maxim is pretty garbage right? So you need to rely on crutch units. The soviet crutch unit is totally the t70, you can't really play a game without it.
As some people have stated, we just want the faction to feel like like "spam penals/guards and get that 70 out " you want some options! |
I think the real problem is Special Operations Flares. Because recon makes artillery pieces very potent. So good teams build AA so recon won't give them great accuracy. However, you can't shoot down flares and OKW pretty much HAS to go Spec Ops on big games... |
