There were few balance changes but imo they did nail some really important ones. COH2 had huge, sweeping balance passes that often had weird knock-on effects.

The coh2 balancing history is an example to be avoided. Buffing and nerfing through the roof does not really help balancing the game.

It would be interesting to see where Relic is getting their balance info. Even after the last balance patch, USF didn't seem very competitive overall and crutched on Pathfinders way too much.

I think most people go Airborne because the upgrade costs for riflemen are nuts.

So you spend 220 fuel to get something that has no good AT and still isn't as good a group of Jaegers or Bersas. Neither DAK nor Wehr has to pay fuel for their infantry upgrades, other than the veterancy upgrades. COH1 showed just how bad purchased veterancy was, yet somehow Relic brought it back in COH3.

Other commanders:

Spec Ops - 3 cp's to get commandoes that are about as good as Bersa's? That's really late for a mainline replacement.
6 cp's to get AT gun and MG drop? Yes, I know it gives some fuel, but the value of that is questionable and it makes it too late to be viable as a T3 replacement.
Whizbang is a joke, less range than an AT gun.

Mechanized - 11-12 CP (depending on options) for an Easy 8 that isn't much better than a P4? For 12 CP, Wehr gets Raid, the 8 Rad, and a Panther. Which of those sounds better?
Scott has no range and shoots marshmellows, while coming out at 4 cp's at the earliest.
War machine is great for comp stomps, but in an real game you've already lost to 8 Rads or Carro's.

Imo the design of having to choose between upgrades for infatry or vehicles is good, since investing resources should also be imo a strategic decision.

If there a need for balancing thing that might require more changes to the other factions and less in US.

I'm purely approaching this from a faction design (gameplay) perspective. DAK have 5 different infantry units that can repair and all vehicles repair themselves passively with an upgrade. They don't need more repairs but I'm okay with it being thrown into a battlegroup.

My point was about the "recovery" mechanism and not the repair one.
(Have to point out once more that I do not like the recovery aspect)

If one want to redesign the unit as "repair" vehicle that is another story.

I provided historic fact that paint a different picture.

WWII planes could reliably hit other planes that moved 400 KM, so hitting a Tank which by comparison was sitting duck was much easier.

Further proof of that is that when the RAF decided to use Hurricanes vs Tank they equipped them with Guns and when Luftwaffe decided decided to use Stuka vs tanks they also equipped it with guns and they even designed a plane for that role which also carried guns.

Reliability for hitting tanks with guns can be easily seen in Rudel record who is credited with 519 tank destroyed. (Even if the number is inflated half the number 259 or even 1/3 173 is still impressive and strong indication of airplane had little trouble hitting tanks).

The fact that after the was the US force decided to develop a CAS airplane and decided to build it around a gun further supports the theory that airplanes can hit tank reliably.

Now you are entitled to your opinion but I have the fact do not agree with that opinion. In sort you expressed an opinion I provided theory based on documented facts.

The main issues of the "blizzard mechanic" was that it brought most PC of the the time to their knees causing massive lag especially in large modes...
