1) MG Duels in equal cover are incredibly rare. The one who wins is usually the one that is setup first and/or suppresses first which is almost always MG34/42 unless they are setting up second.

MG duel are usually describes the case where both hmg are set up....

Hey, hey, hey, there's nothing "made up" about the term. Cut Vipper some slack here. Maxim is very much an "offensive" MG. As in, it's so bad it's offensive to me.
Katakov is simply laying.
Doubt if I ever used the term "offensive mg" once and I certainly did not come up or made it up with it. |
This. Even though there might be something like ELO hell where games are an absolute pain to play, your own skill is what puts you in there or gets you out. It's that simple. Bad matchmaking or people leaving, crashing or failing miserably at the game happens on both sides equally, and if you're on average better than the players you get matched with you'll climb the ladder nonetheless. There's surely much more statstical jitter involved the larger the player count gets, increasing the time you potentially spend below your true skill level, but this again works in both ways.
That of course assumes you are better than the average ELO-hell dweller populating the lower end of the skill spectrum - but if that's not the case matchmaking won't help in any way either.
I am not so sure about that since prearranged teams play in the same league and for the first 10 games count as "unranked".
That can translate to high number of "smurf" fights that can impact random 4vs4 players. |
I think this correctly summarizes the problem with Maxim vs other MGs at the moment. The reload option and prevented death loops are not as deadly on the Maxim as their are on other MGs which indirectly made other MGs better than the Maxim.
Slower setup time and higher cost certainly don't help but I think the former is whats more critical in making the Maxim perform worse.
Not to mention that MG squads are able to send units farther infront of the MG which provide slightly better vision and survivability.
I think the Maxim needs an MP cost reduction and a vision buff to compensate against other MGs. MGs are an integral part of this game and one should not be as bad as the Maxim is. Soviet early game is already quite terrible in team games. It could use a buff.
If you want vision for your maxim try tripwire flares they have excellent synergy. |
So no one says to remove this. Just shift it to vet 1. Pioneers will still have this bonus. There's no reason to have it so early to shoot out of the fog of war with the mg42 in the first contact.
This is a broken thing. And this needs to be fixed.
I have simply provided you with reason for the extra sight as explained by Relic
As for your suggestion try getting Pioneer to vet 1 and see what happens.
Why are not suggesting to be move grenadier vet 1 similar to infatry sections instead... |
Well, i see you have a wild fear that broken things in your favorite faction will be fixed. The arguments are absolutely trash. There is no reason why the pioneers with the mp40 have such high sight range, unless the are helping the MG42 shoot out of the fog of war in the first minute of the game.. Things have been around for 10 years and they've been fixed, so that's fine.
....
"Pioneers
Our aim is to encourage positional play and combined arms, which the Wehrmacht faction tends to reply on more than any other faction. With an increase in sight (albeit still lower than pathfinders) we are allowing Pioneers to help spot for their HMGs and other support teams.
Sight increased from 35 to 42"
It is by design.
Actually Relic was going to give the extra sight to grenadiers and proposed pioneers instead... |
From all the rants I have read this title "Pioneers - the biggest broken OST unit" deserves some sort a prize...
Using hyperboles does not really help one to promote his point on the contrary it has the opposite effect, so we can please cut down them a bit. |
Imo the main issue with maxim (as with other support weapons on wheels) is the "death loop" animation.
I suggested a solution to it that would have the crew "pull" the weapon instead of trying to rotate it and "pushing" it and Sneakeye was even kind enough to implement it in a mode with some success but that there was little interest, so the attempt was abandoned. |
Then don't intentionally twist my words
He literally said building 2-3 mg42s, not 5. So this entire lecture you're giving comes down to his choice of the word "spam"
You could just respond to his suggestion about the price, instead of lecturing people about how the game was several years ago
Do you agree with me that MG-42 can can not be spammed the same way as maxim was being spammed in 2013-2014 yes or no? |
-"maxim was op" isn't an argument, currently its trash,...
Maxim is simply not trash.
... (an """offensive""" MG, made up term by vipper),..
Again this is false, I have not made up this term nor do I even use it.
PLS stop this.
that is the best balance idea, seeing as even the slightest combat buffs would make people like you and vipper go insane
PLS stop with personal comments and stop projecting your flaws on others. According to what you have said you are the one playing allies exclusively (possibly mainly Soviets) I play all faction including Soviets and I do use maxims. |
