Yes.
He could be me.
I’m literally in the armory on base right now surrounded by M16A4s, M240Bs, M9s and other such Marine Corps goodies.
Semper Fucking Fi

Heh, cleaning the weapons, Marine? Keep up the good work, Semper Fi brother. |
Yes. Soviet Union bad. Western countries good. /end
Who needs overly complicated thought processes anyways??
I'm guessing that you're from the Eastern part of Germany. I'm well aware of the brainwashing of the communists in that part of Germany, most of you even, to my big surprise, seem to speak or at least understand Russian.
If you don't believe me that's fine, but if you do even a little bit of research you will see that I'm not talking about this stuff without proof. I'm not going to waste my time trying to prove something to someone that doesn't want to hear anything else on the internet. |
The Germans did heavily influence the AK, but mechanically it really isn’t very similar “under the hood”.
The AK’s gas piston is much more similar to an upside down M1 Garand actually. But they did copy the concept behind the cartridge, that being a shorter, lower velocity round with a lighter bullet that is still the same diameter of the standard infantry rifle round. ( 7.92 for the Germans and 7.62 fir the Soviets )
Captured German engineers would later help the Soviets figure out the stamping process, so I’ll give you that too, but the implementation is very different. The AK has a main receiver that is either stamped or milled, with s dust cover on top of it. The dust cover actually is not needed structurally and an AK can be fired with it removed. The StG has a two part upper and lower receiver that are both stamped sheet metal that hinge together, kind of like an AR-15/M16.
Once again, forgotten weapons and in range TV have videos on comparing and contrasting the AK and StG. I highly recommend them. ( Ian from FW is actually super cool in real life and I got to meet them at a 2 Gun match while living in Arizona. They’re both interesting dudes and swear a lot off camera. Lol
What I'm shooting at here is that anything good that came out of the Soviet Union was basically copied, that's all. If you do a little bit of research on everything again, good that the Soviets "made" you'll reach the same conclusion.
Examples: PPSh 41 was actually copied from the Finnish Suomi KP/-31, their IS-1s and IS-2s didn't even come before they captured and examined Tigers, their arguably "famous" Lada car is actually heavily inspired and copied from Fiat, Italians. I could probably go on but it would take me a full day/night cycle to list them all.
Also, guess where the pic is from. |
Let's just say that Dane has been leaning a little bit too much towards the Axis side and that's also the reason why I stopped watching him when I noticed it.
So him being a bit clueless about ALLIED small arms comes as no real surprise to me.
Also it's fairly obvious what the Soviets copied to make their AK47 even if they're not the same weapon system -
*cough* (superior German engineering) *cough*. |
AOE2 is plenty alive, specially when the number of people playing is superior as to what steam shows. People play through voobly cause there's plenty of problems with the steam client.
Just in case people miss interpret. There is "dead" the developer studio close down game and there is "dead", it's a niche game with a small expected playerbase who can't have AAA budgets nor quality. It can be a solid product, but you will struggle to play on a PvP environment.
I'm not acknowledge with Steel Division 2, but i don't see it breaking the norm of been a small community game.
Yeah, and GameRanger.
And yeah I guess "dead" is a broad statement that is best made a little bit more specific.
Let's just say that it's perhaps a bit less niche than Men of War:AS 2 from what I've noticed at the moment. I think a lot of people, including myself, got put off from the amount of micro management MOWAS2 offered and got pulled in by the grand, "Total War set in WW2" scale that SD2 offered. |
You have to get out of the bubble and see how is the market nowadays. 6 year old me was playing C&C and AoE1 without understanding really what i was doing.
Different generation kids went from playing LoL, to playing Minecraft to playing Fortnite. While the BR fever has pass, the playerbase is still strong. Then you have the new sensation on the Autochess genre (on which both DOTA and LOL were fast to develop and capitalise).
And this is only accounting for the PC market. When you can't sell a game on consoles without sacrificing the design of it, you are reaching way less people. (Let's leave mobile cause that's another abomination of a topic to talk about).
There are no AAA strategy games, cause all the 90/00 glories who try to release a title in the last 10 years have failed. There are only 4 relevant IPs (AoE, WC, SC, CoH), from which we only know 1 is on the making after a long hiatus (AoE).
Interesting that Microsoft brought AoE back, but they are getting all the monies from the nostalgia train with AoE 2 HD, AoE DE, AoE 2 DE and future AoE3 DE before releasing AoE4.
Blizzard has WC and SC, but they are more content with releasing remakes (SC1 HD and WC3 Reforge). The SC2 competitive dwindle down since WoL and the best to happen to the game was the CoOP commanders mode.
Let me give you a list of titles from the last 5 years:
-Planetary Annihilation: from the Total Annihilation franchise. Dead
-Men of war 2: HEAVILY niche game. What ARMA was before getting a boost on sales because of a zombie mode.
-Stronghold Crusade: dead
-Homeworld RE: dead
-Grey goo: from Westwood devs (C&C), dead.
-Cossacks3: dead
-Halo wars: dead
-Steel division: dead
-Spellforce: d
-Total war Arena: d
-Dawn of War 3: d
The most successful thing we have seen in the last years is They are billions, but that's a single player pseudo Tower defense game which allows people to pause (which makes it more accessible to new players in the genre). Even that small movement didn't shake the market and then we have failures who tried to jump in the train as Connan.
Steel Division 2 is looking to come out pretty strong tho, I'm just waiting for a better price to get it at but right now it seems to be one of the most popular WW2 strategy games.
Edit: You also kinda forgot to mention Age of Mythology's EX version and Rise of Nations HD which are both sadly kinda also dead. At least AoE2:HD is fairing a bit better but I think DE will get even more people on board, I'll certainly be getting it. |
Hello, so last year I went on a little vacation without my laptop so I decided to download an e-book to read on my phone while there. My first book of choice was Tigers in the Mud by Otto Carius.
The only other book I found was Tiger Heat and Panzer Commander from Hans von Luck altho it was more about armored recon rather than tanks.
So yeah, I'm just looking for somebody to share their Tiger or Panzer ebooks with me, would very much appreciate it.
Thanks in advance. |
Got anything with Tigers and Panzers? I only found Tigers in the Mud by Otto Carius and Tiger Heat. Also Panzer Commander by Hans von Luck but it's not really much about tanks, more about armored recon. |
I want a new ace skin. Those who voted no are probably trolls or alliebabies
I bet my balls that if a poll were made saying: change tiger ace skin and in return nerf it with less main gun power. All those 22 votes would say yes.
It is simply not logical to defend A rubber duck yellow tank skin
We need to be specific on what to change it to tho, it could go from yellow to brown if you know what I mean. |
If you don't know what the community wants, and you're using nothing as evidence, then you shouldn't say the community wants a certain thing. You and others want it, and that's completely fine, but that doesn't mean everyone does. The poll I quoted confirmed that most people don't care, and that 1/3 of the people who bothered to vote voted "no", so there is nothing to indicate the community wants a different skin.
For the record Relic never called this shot, because we never brought it up. I personally never brought it up for the reasons I stated above (which is why I explained them), because I don't think it's our job as a community balance team to mess with Relic's artistic assets. And Relic doesn't work on the game anymore, besides putting our balance suggestions in.
Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't think it's possible to change it for automatch because it uses a special skin.
I know for certain that most people who DO care don't like the skin and want it replaced, like you've already stated that more people voted on here to replace it than not, for me personally preferably by the original one, but I don't really care at this point if it's just anything than golden (piss) yellow. Of course there's people that won't care, as with everything.
And if you want your indication for certain, instead of us just solely going over polls from here, then make a community wide poll about it similar to the commander votes, asking everybody. Then you will have your answer as to who wants a change and who doesn't care, and the 1% that actually likes the current skin.
I'd do it but I wouldn't be able to have as far as a reach as something posted by Relic themselves altho if you keep saying that you don't believe most people want it I might just do it and prove you wrong. |
