Thread: From OP to UP to OP again: UKF3 Feb 2016, 11:21 AM Brits have never been that well designed imo. Since launch there have been gaping holes in their arsenal (like artillery) with nothing viable to fill them. Unfortunately you know with the AEC it'll be reverted to its strictly inferior puma stats, where its only purpose was to stop you outright losing a game to an early luchs and possibly scout car rush. While they're at it, they'll also increase the cost and make it arrive later. Really the AEC isn't that bad. The only issue is that it arrives a bit too early for Ostheer to properly deal with. OKW have little to no issues with it. In: COH2 Gameplay

Thread: Commando Glider Changes23 Jan 2016, 10:30 AM You're thinking of Operation Deadstick to capture the bridges over the River Orne and Caen canal. It was done by the 6th Airborne division rather than the commandos. In fact, they were later relieved by a commando division arriving from the beach. Their arrival was signaled by playing bagpipes as they marched up the road! Gliders were used for stealth though - something that the CoH2 glider is comically bad at. I mean is there any reason to have it make a loud swooshing sound as it circles the battlefield? Is it in case the enemy misses the smoke and the big glider circling about? I'd much rather it came in on a direct path to its LZ. If they want to delay the call in, just add a delay before the glider turns up. The glider also can't re-enforce if it isn't in friendly connected territory - despite the fact that it will be dropped behind the lines most of the time. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: R.I.P World in Conflict22 Jan 2016, 01:50 AM Nooo! I loved WiC when it came out. Even if I could barely run the thing at the time. It was oh so gloriously pretty when the visuals were turned up. If anything it may have hurt the game though - graphics cards at the time simply couldn't handle it. I always liked Massive as a studio, and WiC was a huge improvement on the disappointing Ground Control 2. In some ways I compare Relic and Massive since they both got their break at about the same time, but the writing was on the wall once activision dumped them. Ubisoft weren't interested in WiC or strategy/tactical games. The rushed/canned soviet assault expansion is testament to this. Ubisoft also didn't even seem to try marketing the game. I can't ever remember seeing it in steam sales and the likes. One thing that never got enough credit with WiC was the online system. It was hands down the best designed multiplayer interface I've encountered. Creating parties, joining friends and servers was all well done. Hell they even gave clans their own forums! The game itself was always more about tactical positioning and play rather than overall strategy I suppose. Still, it had some great ideas about stuff like infantry and sighting. A good infantry player was hell to deal with despite their units being killed by literally everything. If I had one complaint about balance, it was that there wasn't enough reason to use anything other than the heavy units. Really is a pity that they didn't patch the backend to use steam instead. Thread: Latch's 15 Suggestions To Balance COH221 Jan 2016, 19:36 PM Some good suggestions in there, others I don't agree with. Either way credit for the formatting and tone. With regards to the Churchill and the "heavy limit", don't consider it a strict out and out rule. There's a reason why some vehicles are limited and others aren't - and it comes down to the weapon rather than the armour. The limit was originally introduced because it was becoming too common and powerful to spam end game call in heavies - the likes of the ISU, IS-2, Tiger etc. The Churchill will never have the punch that these have - and it also requires teching which the call in heavies didn't. Limiting Churchill's to 1, even if buffed, would leave it a worthless choice. Have to agree with the ISG being a pain though. In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Should Relic take a look at artillery next patch?20 Jan 2016, 16:07 PM The problem with brace for howitzers is that they spend most of their time doing nothing anyway thanks to cooldown, so you aren't really losing anything by bracing. (As an aside it would be interesting, and probably hilarious, if howitzers were given an autofire). The way I see things is like this: Rocket artillery is better than gun artillery. Axis gets stock access to rocket arty where, outside of soviets, allies need a doctrine to get any artillery. Counterbattery fire is largely ineffective, so arty play is very low risk. I would consider switching the priest and scott so that the USF have stock arty worth a damn. The UKF 25pdrs need an overhaul in general. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Faction artillery options17 Jan 2016, 13:13 PM Have to agree that rocket arty simply blows other forms out of the water, especially the Calliope and Panzerwerfer. I'd like to see howitzers get a decent buff against armour as well - namely the crits mentioned above at least. It would also be nice to have as a tool against Jagdtigers/Elefants. An accuracy buff might make counter battery fire a bit more viable as well. I'd still be concerned that, without significant buffs, the USF and UKF will be left with little viable artillery in their stock units. In: COH2 Balance
