I'd go with something outside of WW2. Preferably cold/modern war.
The problem with WW2 and CoH is that people expect certain units in the game. They expect panthers and tigers. They expect a 1944-45 setting. It's the stuff that's most known about. Eventually you end up making the same game with a different coat of paint. |
Sigh, not another "I don't like emplacements so please nerf" thread. You can dress it up as a poll but it's all this thread is. Especially when OKW players vehemently deny ever building a "sim city".
The real difference between okw and brit entrenchment is that OKW will build it literally every game. There was a thread on here not too long ago about how powerful the okw truck bonuses are because they still haven't been adjusted for the change in income.
As for brit emplacements - there's plenty of weaknesses in going emplacement heavy already, you just have to exploit them. |
Haven't played much of it yet, but I really like the changing time/weather conditions in Hamlet. |
On the up side, Relic get balance data about maps outside the normal rotation! |
Had good fun in this match, even if I did make a few mistakes and was probably too passive (especially with the AEC).
Contains a KT or two, tigers, a crocodile, KV2 and a few other things. Also has an AEC actually fire the vet 1 ability for a change.
gg wp to everyone. |
A bit hard to say something's completely useless - but the Sexton and Valentine definitely fall in that category.
For the brits I'd also consider adding the standard Churchill. Its high cost and generally unimpressive performance coupled with a slow speed at a time of the game when you'll be facing panthers mean that you're handing the initiative to the opponent just by building one. It also locks out the Comet which is just plain better.
The universal carrier is borderline. It's moderately useful for about a minute or two before it gets erased by AT. The fuel cost removal will not help this. |
Fully agree that it's stupid.
I'd suggest an alternative though - make it so that they have no capping power while cloaked. That way they'd have to decloak to cap or defend against being capped and you'd have less accidental uncloaking for the player. |
Pak43 has 80 range, same as the 17pdr. It also doesn't have to go up against any tank with longer range than it has.
Sexton is just awful in every way.
Valentine needs its main gun damage increased from 80 to something decent.
17 pounder badly needs a pop cap decrease. |
The sheer hypocrisy from OKW players in particular on this is astounding. Every single one of these complaints and worse applies to the ISG. It has comparable range, is mobile, has incredible accuracy, is much harder to hit thanks to its small size and is practically immortal since it will be sitting next to a battlegroup HQ and eventually flak HQ. If by some stroke of luck you stand in the fire from a mortar pit long enough for it to get lucky and kill the ISG, you can just re-crew it. |
Balance issues aside, full credit to Relic for the misc bug fixes in this patch. Quite a few them are direct responses to threads on here.
Cheers Relic, keep up the good work! |
