And he's right, it is worse than an AEC for nearly any situation. As for crush, well, I'll be honest I'm not a fan of the mechanic and don't think it should factor into the value of the unit in any way. The game is set in WW2 after all, and last I checked tanks weren't built to run infantry over. It's like having a battleship designed for ramming. The game won't be entirely historically accurate but at the very least it should get basic concepts like "tanks kill stuff by shooting at it". If I wanted pure fantasy I'd play something else. That said, I do agree with you in some ways. The valentine/sexton synergy is probably holding both of them back and ultimately falls flat anyway. I suspect the Sexton's limited range is due to the valentine boost, and the valentine is kept poor because of the "synergy" with the sexton. Too bad that to get it to work to full effect you need 2 sextons and a vet 1 valentine. Good luck if you've spent that much pop cap on it. The reason I posted the DPS stats is because I believe that's the heart of the problem with the Valentine. Its utility is good, no denying that - although I believe the smoke is harder to get firing than the Sherman's, but I'll have to test that again. I don't think the fog of war scanning necessitates being limited to 1, especially when OKW can do the same for much cheaper. The problem as I see it is simply that the Valentine is not combat capable - largely thanks to pathetic damage from the main gun. So rant over for now, but I just want to make clear just how bad the Valentine's gun is. In: COH2 Balance

Both have the same penetration (100). Going by the stat.coh2.hu calculations we have the following (F/N) dps values: AEC: 11.86 / 21.56 Valentine: 5.30 / 9.64 Really, going by those stats the Valentine's gun is competing with coaxial machine guns. Even then it loses compared to the AEC's MG. Thread: The Royal Artillery Regiment25 Mar 2016, 18:07 PM I'm curious, how was this commander in the alpha/beta? I think I saw a mention of an artillery officer coming with the sexton call in? Likewise I've heard the Valentine had a gun that was closer to the T-34/76 than the 80 damage peashooter it has now? I'm mostly just curious as to how things ended up as bad as they were. Thread: Royal Artillery + Sexton Balance25 Mar 2016, 16:24 PM The mattress is fine. It's slow, decrewable and doesn't have the alpha strike associated with rocket artillery. It's everything else the ukf has that's broken. When talking about the Sexton it's generally accepted that the cost would go up if it matched the priest. Personally I'd give the Sexton slightly longer range (5-10) than the priest and a longer barrage, but with lower damage per shell (160 compared to the Priest's 200). The AoE profile needs fixed for all 25pdr based artillery to make it an actual threat. The price would be similar. For anyone who's curious, these changes would be to closer match historical performance (this is still a game vaguely based on actual history, right?). The Sexton could fire further than the Priest and carried more shells. In: COH2 Balance

Isn't that the entire point? Unless you mean repairing the forward assembly itself. Thread: "Vickers is Hopeless For countering blobs" DISCUSS24 Mar 2016, 00:13 AM Not entirely surprised if it bugged as mentioned above. The problem really comes back to the volks blob though. A vetted up volks blob can basically ignore the vickers long enough to throw the flame nade, which also happens to be a perfect MG counter. It isn't a problem that's unique to allies mind, just allied infantry can't also blow up the medium armour supporting the MG. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Royal Engineers are broken20 Mar 2016, 20:28 PM I think Mr.Smith put it best, but you can't look at Royal Engi's in isolation. In terms of mobile infantry, the brits have 3 stock units - tommies, sappers and the sniper (if you count that, I consider it a specialist), and tommies can't fire on the move. Likewise Royal Engis are needed to build and keep alive emplacements. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Rocket artillery vs. Howitzer artillery19 Mar 2016, 12:15 PM Have to agree with supression and crits (including engine damage) on howitzers. Would mean that a tank caught by howitzer fire would find it harder to drive away after 1 shell. It might also make howitzers more of a counter to heavies like the jagdtiger. Another change I'd like to see is that rocket artillery should give away its position when it fires, not when it hits something. It would give a bit of time to check where it's aiming and move if needed. It also fits in with the real world problems of rocket artillery - it's not subtle. Since this would need code changes though it's pretty unlikely. In: COH2 Balance
