I find that the okw has really no good recon, i figured out the Panzerfüsilier can rip a flare into the air after they rank up, but is this the only way to do safe recon? I think for me as a player the search light truck would not be suitable for me. Also what do they have for anti air other than the flack ? Also when you want to reach out and touch someone the okw has the 7.5cm le.IG 18 Infantry Support Gun and Stuka and that's it correct? Keep in mind im a new player just looking for advice.
Sorry for the semi long read and ty if you made it this far
Kubel has the same sight range as a pathfinder (50) but needs a lot of attention and micro. (Doctrinal) JLI also have 50 sight range and camo in cover.
As for AA, your only option (other than flak HQ and flak HT) is the doctrinal 20mm flak emplacement. Tbh, the flak HT alone is enough to clear the skies of any real problems and gains vet doing so.
For reaching out, stuka is great but (doctrinal) LeFH has further range and arguably more firepower but spread out over many shots. Think of it like a bigger (fixed) and much meaner LeIG minus smoke.
I've been thinking a lot about the game during the tech test, changed my mind a few times and IMHO it's a bit early to say whether the game will succeed/fail. Long term support will be crucial in any case.
I will say that the extra time they had shows up well in this version, when compared to an earlier test. For regular COH2 players it is quite easy to get into the factions, once you are familiarised with the hybridised (COH1 + COH2) tech structure. I seriously doubt many ppl missed having to send engineers back to base just to build tech buildings, esp backteching SOV T2.
Yes the balance is all over the place, but this is to be expected for a brand new game. There are many familiar problem units, but they're in a sea of new units who have balancing problems of their own. "Everything is OP" indeed.
Maybe COH3'll work out great, maybe not. But I do know one thing for certain, I wouldn't want to be senior management for a project like this. The pressure must be immense.
Yes Overwatch is OP. But I have to agree with aerafield on a lot of his points.
Overwatch basically exists because your alternative vs current UKF is to get walked off the map or play obnoxiously. You cannot even rely upon MG34 any more to deal with the IS blob, because they get 42 sight range pyrotechnics (52 sight in cover at vet I, which means anywhere of relevance).
Camping behind sandbags can buy you time, but ever since the sandbag model size change (1->20), they're easily shot out. So you must either commit to harder camping or play around the blob, trying to draw the game out.
Double LeIG is heralded as a toxic counter, but you are using two light arty instead of two squads. Expect to get brenned off the map or just 5-man IS blob right-clicked through your army. Or worse, commandos wiping your men and support teams because your inf presence is weak and SPs can't be everywhere "just in case of mandos".
I would theorise that if Overwatch were to disappear, Elite Armored would not be able to replace it. Any decent UKF can handle a 221 without too much trouble, infantry behind cover will shred it quickly and maybe a hardcounter in the form of an AEC. Instead, more fusiliers or ppl switching to OST for the 2 MG42, 2 pio braindead build that murders most UKF players out the door. Or yes, the much feared OST Sniper.
Not really, "Critical Shot" from UKF sniper will cause engine damage to light vehicles and it quite viable...
I was referring to the normal shots from the UKF Sniper. In any case, lining up a critical shot on an Axis LV usually ends up being in a situation where it's coming right at you.
I've used it a few times. LVs easily have enough HP to shrug off a normal use of the ability. Using it reveals your position instantly and slows you down iirc. It's like the UKF sniper shooting at Kubels and 222s.
Use it for funbuilds/games. It'll feed Obers and LMG grens badly in canister shootouts. I've had one success in blob smashing, with an inf screen, but they might have just been bad players.
Might be worth something when the camo is used for surprises on LVs, but two of them are quite an investment. Pure speculation: Maybe if the Axis players are very good with their LVs and PTRS penals aren't viable in the face of their inf.
Usual Urban Defense being annoying/potential high pressure outside of 4v4 disclaimer.
