So, with the new war spoils system, CoH2 finally has a currency and a way to obtain premium items.
Based on this, I propose that CoH2 should be made f2p to bolster the community size. Its not as if the game's not already structured around a f2p structure with different factions, commanders and skins that cost money to buy. It will also improve the scene for competitive CoH2 with more players in the game.
With this, Relic will be a far more popular developer, they can market RTSes including their upcoming games to more people and still make a bit of money.
To compensate ppl who have bought the base game, they should be able to get enough credits to buy one new faction they don't have.
What do you think?
I learned three things from this thread.
3. How little the coh2 community catches on with obvious satire. (not talking about admins or mods, just your average poster)
Aha, I've caught onto your little game.
In all seriousness, though: it's one thing to turn a mechanically simple shooter like Team Fortress 2 (to list an example) into F2P, it's quite another to do the same for a multiplayer RTS. Relic very well might see a substantial and immediate increase in the playerbase following such a conversion, but how long would that last? How long would the new players stick around to learn the intricacies of the game instead of downloading it to play a few matches and move on? It's a gamble. And like Katitof mentioned, there's the obvious issue of cheaters becoming more prevalent were the game to be F2P.
With this patch my game is unable to launch. is that a known bug?
Yeah, a lot of people have experienced the same issue.
Just saw this announcement in the Steam forums twenty minutes ago by a Relic developer:
For those having trouble - Hot Fix Impending
We are working on a hotfix.
We expect it to be deployed in a matter of hours (today at some point).
To rollback to a prior version while waiting:
Right click on company of heroes 2. Select properties, then the BETAS tab.
there should be a drop down menu. from the drop down select "beta"
close the dialog box, then log out and back into steam.
You should receive an update.
If it worked you should see something like Company of Heroes 2[beta] in your library
This will get you back to the previous version of the game.
You'll be able to play, but automatch won't match you with the rest of the playerbase and the new giveaway skins won't show up for you. Don't worry - you'll get the skins once we get the hotfix up.
You do know it isn't about you, it's about you finding some excuses for relic's incompetence or laziness, whatever the fuck they are doing, jerking off in the studio or whatever.
And No. I stopped playing this game weeks ago.
Cancer Regiment, Rifle blob, volks blob, it had been going on for MONTHS.
Serious-fucking-ly though, they push out a "Balance Preview Mod" that basically copy most changes from someone's mod, and it takes them WEEKS to actually patch it officially? Seriously? They DIDN'T even make those changes, they just COPIED & PASTED.
Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V too hard for them eh?
Are you complaining that that it took them too long to push out the balance mod or that it's taking them too long for them to make it an official update for everybody? I was also pretty annoyed that they refused to make any balance changes during the months-long ESL tournament season; but now that that's over and they're looking to make some pretty drastic changes, I think it makes sense for them to take their time making sure the update lands in as good a state as possible, else they would just have to spend yet more time salvaging another mess.
I have to wonder, though, how many people they still have working on CoH2. I imagine it's just a skeleton crew at this point, with most of the team developing DoWIII full-time.
For instance Guards saw many balance changes and remain underused but it was the quality of life changes (more responsive, weapon drops) that lead them to be used more.
Not really, Guards only became a worthwhile call-in when the PTRS accuracy was buffed. Reducing the drop-rate and fixing the frog behavior helped but they weren't the major catalyst.
my point exactly bro, i still dont see why ppl like this change its either there not understanding or they are axis fanboys and are just agreeing to agree to make it seem like its a good change but its not. im sure this is a huuge nerf, and its so obvious. they didnt need to change its reload speed at vet2. the base penetraion buff was enough. of a buff and it was all that was needed. not a vet 2 super nerf
Buffing the penetration to 240 while retaining the same vet 2 (and 3) reload speed bonus would make for a hilariously OP SU-85.
