8 man squads will probably start to cause problems, like if one or more of them isn't in cover against an MG the whole squad will get pinned/suppressed.
Dodging nades may become an issue, etc.
Adding a bonus in cover wouldn't make the 7 man upgrade any more desirabe, so ideally the upgrade would also need to give a bigger increase in DPS. Either via firing rate/reload or by giving the 7th con a better weapon. |

Losing a weapon slot for a seventh con still doesn't seem worth it, even for the cheaper reinforcement cost.
How about including a weapon cooldown bonus to the upgrade, so they have a higher DPS.
Also, perhaps give them a range increase and price reduction on molotovs at vet 3, so they can be used more to deny cover/harass support weapons. |
Nah, you gotta buy 3 of them for 150 munitions, from the weapon racks.
Big investment for a good pay off, 300 damage potential, since they don't get ambush bonuses.
When you pick up two bazookas you get given three, I have no idea why, I assume it's a bug. Give it a try the next time you test the mod.

They get the elite bazookas now (if they pick up bazookas from the rack), which deal 20 more damage and have 30 more penetration on all ranges.

When they pick up two bazookas from the rack they actually get three, so that's three extra powerful bazookas. Which could be a bit too much, especially on a commander that has a sprint ability that can be used on several squads at once.
Are they supposed to get three (for the price of two) or is that a bug?

How would KV-1 help against late game armour?
In the same way it helps with any commander that has it, it's a better and more useful medium tank. One that can take more hits than a T34, if nothing else. |
Honestly with the barrage costing muni the SU-76 is kind of a meh unit no matter what you do. If anything I'd rather it see a deploy/hunker down mode that turns it into a semi howitzer similar to the pack howi than just an AT gun on wheels.
Is there a chance this could be tested, either within the balance team via a seperate mod, or in the next update? It's a really great idea and well worth testing imo. |
We might give the upgrade a manpower / fuel cost instead of munitions partly because of this and partly because the commander is already very munitions heavy. That will put the cost at OKW P4 level, which matches its new performance.
Switching it from ammo to fuel sounds like a good move. |

It was so incredibly satisfying killing a sniper by dropping a jeep on them, whilst watching it happen from overhead.
But will a soviet commander really mount a t34? Weren't they crap quality tanks? Greatly designed and fast junk tanks.
Maybe a commander kv1? Or is it too much?
IMO a standard KV1 would be good enough, just so that they don't have to rely almost entirely on rocket call-ins to take on late game armour. Without that this commander will probably mainly be used in team games. |
