Do you know if this might be something that gets fixed in the February patch? Penals are already almost completely useless. Fixing this would at least make them slightly less awful. |
That's not so much a tactic, as appealing to the RNGod/game engine.
You'd ideally need to approach from a blind corner, so you don't take an initial volley of fire (potentially knocking one tank down to half health or less), and then hope you manage to get a decent enough amount of kills to force a retreat.
I noticed today that if you don't kill enough with the first thrust you're pretty screwed - unless there is no where for the infantry to go, and you can fully exploit the awful reaction ai.
If only ram worked without needing a target, it would make T34/76s a hard counter to blobs, and actually make the ability - and the tank - really useful.

OKW shrek blobs do make 3v3 and 4vs4 matches a farce. It's always the same:
Shrek blobs in the early and mid game followed by heavy tank spam in the late game.
It's basically the problem COH2 had for over two years with Ost, but now thanks to the Western Armies the problem has been moved to the OKW and US (at least the US can't spam heavy tanks, even if they wanted to).
How Relic could make the same mistake all over again is beyond comprehension.
It doesn't help that all the hard counters are either commander specific, late tier, or cost a lot of ammo/fuel (to counter cheap opening tier units).
This could so easily be fixed, so why isn't it. |
Who must have got his instructor job from blackmailing his battalion's CO.
lol, imagine how long it would actually take them to show the pictures to anyone. I bet people wouldn't even know they're getting them out until they just suddenly appear (and they wouldn't be able to do it at all if the person is standing too close to them). |
The new version is much better. But shrek blobs are still a complete joke, so with that in mind I'd say the redesign isn't quite finished.. |
Exactly !!! It takes ages to throw them.
I assume they get their training from the same person who trains conscripts on how to throw Molotovs.
The lack of a clear animation makes it even worse, as you have no idea how close they are to firing it. |
Having a basic mortar available at HQ would at least give them more initial opening options, and ways to quickly deal with MG spam.
They have no support weapons for several minutes, so it's little wonder so many games result in them blobbing.
Relic also need to do something about the M8, it's virtually never used (it's basically a howie on wheels) and compared to the late game mobile art other factions get it's totally ineffective. |
Based on my own experiences it seems to happen when several people initiate the vote in quick succession. As in the second a vote fails someone starts it again, and again. And by the third time it gets bugged.
According to the most recent stats 4vs4 is the most played game mode, so that's one good reason to fix it sooner rather than later. |
It is tiresome, especially when you know it will end with panther+tiger spam in the late game.
Demos wipe squads, as do mines, but there are always one or two models left on half the squads, which are retreated and losses replaced quickly, whilst replacement squads are built.
This could easily be fixed by making MGs and mortars more deadly vs blobs. I really have no idea why Relic don't do that. |
Actually, USF choose calliope because that's the only thing that USF lack off. Just give USF non-doctrinal Jeep Calliope and nobody would be forced to choose Calliope anymore.
I completely agree with this. The M8A1 Howitzer is barely if ever used and is totally outclassed by every other non-doctrinal late game artillery vehicle. This would be a very decent and worthwhile replacement.
