What do you mean it automatically switches to HE?
When the Smoke Barrage is over and the Mortar switches to Auto Fire again with HE rounds. Sure, you can switch auto fire off but it's a pain for those of us who hyper focus on things. lol.
i guess he mean that when rushignt hrought smoke its mortar auto fire the unit in the smoke which hurt its assautin squad?
Correct. |
So I was thinking about this for a while now. Until the British got a massive range buff on there Smoke Rounds, it really wasn't all that attractive to use. When the range was the same as HE rounds, you would ALWAYS prefer lethal fire over smoke. It's a no brainer. Smoke is so unappreciated despite it's utility since it's overshadowed by it's lethal counterparts...
Not to mention the annoyance of your mortar switching back to HE rounds when you are still fighting around the smoked area. Friendly fire ends up being quite a real danger in those situations...
I honestly think the only way to make Smoke more attractive is to make ALL mortars have better range for Smoke than HE rounds. Like 25% - 50% more range? It would absolutely encourage more strategic play and make things more interesting as a whole when attacking things like emplacements or other enemy positions.
It would also allow for Mortars to remain comfortably useful at times when an enemy has a mortar of their own since they could move out of lethal range and you would still be able to Smoke your way to victory. lol.
What do you guys think? Something to consider? Too overpowered, perhaps? |
Honestly, I think PPsh41s being their only weapons is completely fine. When they get full Vet, Shock Troops are BRUTAL! I like using the Terror Doctrine most when using them. I would load my Shocks into either a Scout Car or M5 Halftrack (M5 for best results), pop some Propaganda over an enemy position and CHARGE!!! Don''t forget to unload your Shocks so that they can reinforce and take out the main Infantry threats like MG42s. Then follow up with a push from the rest of your forces. Really, it's the only way to use them in an open map.
On Close Quarters maps, I find using sight blockers like buildings and hedgerows can be your best friend. Using Shocks for ambushes is a great way to get them vetted. |
I'd like it if they could throw a barrage of Smokes to cover a wider area. Maybe even give a targeting UI similar to the Centaur's Strafing Barrage only with smoke bombs. THAT will be useful. |
- Increase the range and damage to Rangers and Paratroopers level (it's funny that the 45ACP has more range than 7.62TT, because it is absolutely the reverse)
Realistically, wouldn't the rate of fire of the PPsh41s greatly skew the accuracy? Wouldn't giving them higher accuracy make them super OP too? |
Sure, it's a scary vehicle but by no means is it indestructible. Snare it, flank it, kill it. Of course, I may be oversimplifying it but as as allied player, I'm okay with it the way it is. |
I'll agree with adjusting the damage AOE if both the AVRE and Sturmtiger could pin or stun infantry upon impact. |
Does the fact that the Artillery Commander for the UKF's portrait is in the front mean they are chosen to definitely be changed? Would it be a wasted vote to vote for them to be revamped?
Well I can say for certain that I would like to see the Valentine's ability arty call in turn to something like a Creeping Barrage with a wider scatter, courtesy of the 25 Pounders at base. THAT will make it more attractive! It's stupid that the Valentine requires a Sexton on the field to make it's Forward Observation Arty ability usable.
I honestly would like to see the HQ Glider be made more useful and unique too. Make it capable of building Universal Carriers, perhaps? Mortar Teams? Essentially a callback to CoH1. |
Shooting at his forces, I guess? |
While technically it is only a Mortar, it's still artillery. Doesn't the Soviet Mortar only fire 4 shells in it's barrage? |
