To be honest, unless my Soviet mine magically gets a squad kill or destroys a flamer, I consider it a waste if it triggers on infantry. Sure muni-wise getting 2 kills (and sometimes 3) isn't a bad return, but I generally place them to deal with FHTs and later armour.
Not really... a return for 90 manpower vs 35 muni is rather nice for any part of the game - it also kills an enemy flank and you certainly will know where anyone is going.
Ask any VCoH player - of one thing of the meta that was great in VCoH - it was mines. |
The perception that teller mines are drastically inferior to soviet mines strikes me as odd. Personally, I enjoy having a mine that is more likely to have a high rate of return. It deals 500 damage, can only trigger on high value units, and is fairly cheap when you consider the targets it can one shot.
60 munitions to outright destroy a T70/SU-76 or lower seems like a pretty good deal.
That said, I realize its overall utility early game is quite low and does reduce the number of counters available to the German player, but its late game potential far exceeds its counterparts.
Personally, I would think that a mine which is cheaper, damages an engine (means death to any vehicle anyway - how many vehicles in VCoH that were overextended ended up surviving after they hit a mine? Not too many), can stop infantry flanks and can be laid throughout the game is a lot better than a high cost mine.
This is especially when the engine is only repaired after the vehicle is repaired to 100%
Thats the Sov mine vs the Ostheer Mine. |
Most ppl say you call in T-34-85s if you're winning.
I somewhat disagree, it's a bit like calling a Pershing - doesn't exactly mean that you're winning.
So, one way you can call in T-34-85s, I guess, if you're not winning, could be to compliment an SU-85 army so you have a main-line battle tank that is decent supporting your tank destroyers.
Has anyone tried this atm? |
also make a random chance to just commit sucide instead of always running away relic please it was funny. adds some variety and attention to detail as well.)
+1 |
The fire rate balances itself because German squads are smaller. So the only real difference is the 2 men vs better camo. And I think 2 men is a much bigger advantage, primarily because it makes countersniper almost impossible. So Germans have to find another counter against Soviet snipers because their own won't cut it. There are counters, but until they're fielded you have to suck it up and hope you don't lose too many men. This is reflected in my actual experience, as I very rarely see a German sniper but Soviets ones appear with more regularity. Not as often as in vCOH, which is a good thing given how godmode they were in that game.
Only time I would seriously field a German sniper is against an opponent that goes T2 + shock troops, as the MP bleed is significant and he has no direct counter. The Soviet sniper on the other hand is buildable and viable in most situations.
Kinda true, but the Soviet T2 is much better for late game than the Soviet T1 so if they do build T1, they're going for a stronger earlygame but a weaker lategame IMO |
I feel ya. I am playing only sporadically right now, waiting for some updates and the meta to change. It is not a bad idea to play some other games. Remember, you have to bang a 4 to appreciate an 8
I completely feel the same thing, especially when you go up the levels only to find yourself against strafe spam...
Now that's gone, I wouldn't mind hopping back to COH2 though. |
Check your metrics for the last couple of months.
Ost Sniper is a complete piece of shit in 1v1 and has no representation at all in tournament play.
I dont give a shit a about carried teamgame metas vs noobs due to the non-existant ladder.
I cant bekieve the shit Im reading here.
I'd say the Soviet Sniper is no good in 1v1 either - it's harder to kill but it fires less and is harder to camo.
So it balances out in the end. |
But I'm still laughing at that name - Langreskaya haha
Really happy Langres is back |
Langreskaya HAHAHAHAHA
Thanks for adding Langres back though
Hope to see Ango, Semois (summer only), Duclair at some point |
The "realistic" argument for mines suppressing makes no sense. Saying all the shrapnel etc would make guys hit the dirt, you could say this about rifle fire.
That said, I don't know why they took away mine suppress in CoH 2 ... but I don't care either way
I don't know about you but when something explodes, ppl would naturally hit the dirt.
But yeah, mines should always suppress. |
