How does spawning on empty buildings with high DPS, faust, & grenades not count as best late game infantry? Obers are still the best infantry with upgrades, Jesus Christ you make it sound like Cons and Rifles are on par.
Obers are not the best infantry. Not in any parameter.
Also why should okw get the best late game infantry? Fair enough if it is tied to vet. but okw doesn't suffer from less mp.
Because their infantry costs the most. |
And falls themselves are a joke.Especially vs paras,1919 rifles or guards.
That may be, but they're still the best OKW has.
I honestly prefer Fusiliers over everything else. |
I mean fragile in the typical 4 man squad sense, but they take a fair amount of small arms fire damage at lower vet levels before their received accuracy veterancy bonus's start kicking in.
Obersoldaten get outperformed by Fallschirmjägers in everything. Falls have more DPS at all ranges, no Muni cost, no Fuel cost, can spawn from buildings, have caustic smoke and grenades and a Panzerfaust. |
The Tiger has, at the same cost, absolutely no advantage in any parameter compared to IS 2 or T-34-85s. |
I looked it up. KwK36 penetration at a 30° from Vertical is 137 at 1000 metres 50% penetration 1 time.
The IS tanks had no mantlet like the Panther. |
150-170mm at 90 degrees yes, not on sloped armor, though. As for the 100mm turet, while that is true, the turret is a rounded mantlet, which makes a 0 degrees hit extremelly unlikely.
Anyways, i edited my previous post and forgot about APCR rounds. It is true that the tiger I could penetrate the IS-2 with APCR rounds.
The problem with the German penetration data is not that it's at 0 degrees, but that it's measured in 5 out of 5 hits need to penetrate. Assuming the German penetration criterium was 50%(I have never seen this proven) this would do a 97% chance of penetrating. Besides, the IS 2s armour was oftentimes not excellent at all.
And the notion that 'A 0° hit on a sloped surface is extremely unlikely' is simply an unfounded assumption. |
Now again, how do you arrive at this conclusion? the Tiger only had 120mm of armor penetration at 60 degrees, at 100m, which was the exact armor of the IS-2.
Well for starters, combat reports.
But I'll just quote my own post from further back in the thread.
Claim: The IS 2 was impenetrable to the Tiger beyond 100 metres.
The Tiger did indeed penetrate 120mm at 100metres. But only when the Germans tested it. German penetration criteria was 97%, 99% according to other sources, and the target was a 60°(from the horizontal) sloped armour plate.. There are several tests, by several countries which all came to similar conclusions. The UK, the USA, Finland, the GDR and Yugoslavia rated the kwk 36 at around 150-170mm of penetration.
And of course the fact that the Is 2 also had a 100 mm turret. |
I'm with you on Teching, but how does PzIV beats Sherman in AI?
Well I've read the argument that the PzIV wont be caught with it's pants down due to the Sherman having two shells and I think that's a legit argument. But this is only a certain scenario, hence the term 'arguably' |
I believe the problem with Obers come especially with the vet bonuses. They used to be good and they only got better and better. However now OKW is really far behind when it comes to Cost-Performance, as they need fuel, manpower AND munitions to get Obers. They're by far the second most expensive infantry in the game, only falls(which are very bad) cost more with the insane price of 440mp, and they both lose against several other units that cost less.

I think one of the things the KT needs(next to a price reduction) is bit more speed and most of all a higher turret rotation speed!
The turret rotation is a huge problem for the KT. It's supposed to be a flankable vehicle, but the rotation speed makes it possible for vehicles to flank it by simply approaching it from a 45° angle to the turret, and the kt cannot return fire.
Arguably with the price decrease there could be a slight AI nerf. |
