I've been trying to make a mod for USF that addresses the problems it has in multiplayer without making it OP. I've been running into some problems that I can't figure out.
Pack Howie - I want to make this buildable from the motor pool but can't figure out how to add units to a building.
Battlegroup abilities
Easy 8 - how can I remove the squad from this ability?
General - how do I edit the number of CP's to unlock an ability? Spec Ops is non-competitive due to the number of CP's. An anti-tank drop at 6 CP's is way too late. Commandos are also too late at 3 cp's.

More frequent, smaller patches would be better. Relic did a terrible job of balancing COH2 with their infrequent, huge balance patches. They had a tendency to make one side uncompetitive for long periods of time. Right now, balance doesn't feel too terrible for all factions except US. Even for US, it seems like it could be fixed with a few small changes. My suggestion for US is that they make the pack howie non-doc and give it the same range as the LEIG. The Scott badly needs rework. It's comical that Relic made it a short range weapon when it was a mobile howitzer with 4x longer range than a Walking Stuka. Lastly, the aim time on the vet 0 US anti-tank gun is so terrible that the 8 Rad can drive through the arc and the AT gun often doesn't fire. I know people want to complain about the 8 Rad being OP, but I think the bigger problem is that neither bazookas nor AT guns work against it. Lastly, bazookas are garbage right now. My ideal patch right now would be to make the US changes above, plus make emplacements like 88's take damage while being decrewed, and then give the game a month to let the meta sort out. I think it's safe to say that Pathfinders along with USF is dead in teamgames now, at least for a while It would be interesting to see where Relic is getting their balance info. Even after the last balance patch, USF didn't seem very competitive overall and crutched on Pathfinders way too much. I think most people go Airborne because the upgrade costs for riflemen are nuts. Infantry Support Center fuel costs 15+15+50+80 Grenades 25 Bars 40 So you spend 220 fuel to get something that has no good AT and still isn't as good a group of Jaegers or Bersas. Neither DAK nor Wehr has to pay fuel for their infantry upgrades, other than the veterancy upgrades. COH1 showed just how bad purchased veterancy was, yet somehow Relic brought it back in COH3. Other commanders: Spec Ops - 3 cp's to get commandoes that are about as good as Bersa's? That's really late for a mainline replacement. 6 cp's to get AT gun and MG drop? Yes, I know it gives some fuel, but the value of that is questionable and it makes it too late to be viable as a T3 replacement. Whizbang is a joke, less range than an AT gun. Mechanized - 11-12 CP (depending on options) for an Easy 8 that isn't much better than a P4? For 12 CP, Wehr gets Raid, the 8 Rad, and a Panther. Which of those sounds better? Scott has no range and shoots marshmellows, while coming out at 4 cp's at the earliest. War machine is great for comp stomps, but in an real game you've already lost to 8 Rads or Carro's. The Jaeger Light Winfantry are back and better than ever now with shrecks! I usually open with a couple pathfinders into paras with 1919's, backed by one MG and a quad (in 4v4's). If they shreck-up, they're vulnerable to AI and you can push them around with your infantry. If they do AI upgrades, then your 76 Shermans have fun. Having played a bunch of Wher, I don't really like the Grens a lot late game, so Jaegers end up being a bit of a crutch. I like the Grens so little that I often try to get by with just one until I get Jaegers. My guess is that most people do the same so every game you lose, it feels like you're getting ran over by Jaegers, when the problem is that Grens aren't scaling particularly well. With large patches, it took COH2 2-3 MONTHS, not days for the meta to evolve. One of my few regrets about COH 3 is that there won't be another balance patch. I don't think the last couple community patches were good for Allies in 4v4. Last month, the win rate for top 200 Allies in 4v4 was 37-40% depending on faction. 1v1 through 3v3 are well balanced which, to me, means that they did a good job of balancing infantry through medium tanks. Rocket arty, howitzers, and heavies are the problem. IMO, the game would be a lot better off without any of those things anyway. In: COH3 Central |

Hello, I have a simple question. Is the Greyhound useless? Because it does feel like that. I can't see any situation where it is something that will give me a big advantage in said situation. Asking for both 1v1 matches and 3v3 or 4v4. I need some advice on it, or for someone to tell me to drop it because it actually is bad and its not just me Once in awhile when I feel like doing something non-meta, I'll get them in a 4v4. If you play somewhat conservatively with them, they end up with really great vision and good AA at vet 2 or 3. I combine one with two Jacksons which makes it really difficult for armor, then once the armor is chased off, the main gun acts almost like a sniper. It's really situational and much more difficult to use against good players. |

It worked okay for me on the minimap but sometimes resulted in immediate retreats when I used the regular screen. I'd agree with the people who said it is buggy. FWIW - I don't think it will be a massive flop. It has a lot of customizeability which will make it a hit for the single-players. The biggest thing that I saw that was wrong with it was the UI. It looks like it was optimized for a tablet. It's way too spread out, and the hot keys can't be easily used by just one hand. That won't work for competitive gaming, unless you're 14 years old and playing on your phone. In: COH3 Central |
