At this point, it safe to consider that CoH2 is living its last 4 months, before becoming a dead game. I highly doubt, it will even maintain small player base after CoH3 release regardless of its state.

I ran into one the other night with two squads of Panzer Grenadiers, both having the panzerschreck upgrade. Wasn't looking for it, was trying to find a pesky sherman. They still killed it.

People have mentioned AT guns as counters, as well as mortars, but they have left out the fact that all medium or heavy tanks counter them as well. I'm pretty sure STUGs can outrange them - but I'd have to test it. Additionally if you bait the main guns direction flanking infantry can also deal with them.

Now the main attraction of the Avre is the Petard Mortar (Just like the SturmTigers main thing is its nuke) but when its on cooldown it can still harass unsupported units and support your infantry. (Like the grenade on Sturmtiger).

Now as far as I know (without testing) the penalties do not apply to AEC's "Target Tread", FF "Tulip Rocket Strike" or Centaur's "20mm Strafing Fire".

Calling the hull mg debuff a "huge nerf" is probably an overstatement since its damage is not that great to begin with.
