Jackson is still in a problem spot simply due to its role - countering heavy armor. As it stands, the only at weapon USF possesses with the ability to counter massed mediums is the 57mm ATG. I personally think that the M10 should be stock and the M36 taking its place in Armored Company.

I really have no interest in a COH 3 set in the Pacific. I'd much rather have a setting other than WW2, like a Cold War gone hot scenario a la Wargame, or even a futuristic game. |
Is it possible to get a price reduction from 155 fuel to 145 fuel for the Firefly? I think the new stats justify it. |
Unfortunately, there just isn't any game that's like COH. I suppose the closest thing I can think of that's good is the Wargame series, which is excellent. It isn't like COH, though, but I highly recommend it. |
At this point I'm mostly just frustrated with the forward retreat point changes. They're completely unnecessary and are going to affect OKW the most, as if Allied early game wasn't dominant enough. It's not even the fact that they're nerfing them (although I'ma against nerfing them), but mostly the way in which they're being nerfed. It's so sloppy and heavy-handed. Changing them at all is completely unnecessary, and if anything Soviets and Ostheer should have gotten them. Playing on big maps without them is awful. I can live with everything else in this patch I don't like (namely the repair speed and Panther nerfs) if the FWP changes get scrapped. |
I absolutely hate this patch overall. There are some nice changes in there like the conscript, le.IG, and Jackson buff, but overall it's really steering the game in a negative direction. Maybe I'm ranting a bit and not being very constructive, but...
Panther nerfs are ridiculous, especially Wehr Panther which already is overpriced.
I'll withhold judgment until I play it, but I'm wary of the Jagdiger nerfs making the unit useless.
Repair speed nerfs are just going to bog the game down. Wehr/Soviet repair speeds should have been buffed, not the new factions nerfed.
FRP nerfs are retarded. Why is there a goddamn cooldown to turn it off? So now I'm supposed to just stand there while getting shelled? Come on. If you want to remove FRP points, just remove them, although I like them and think all factions should have them because massive maps are nigh unplayable without them.
I hate smokes being moved to rear echelons. This is just a change for the sake of change. Nobody asked for this.
I'm fine with Calliope health being lowered, but I don't like the sound of its rockets firing slower.
I'm glad to see the ISU-152 getting some love, but its main problem is its woeful accuracy, which isn't getting any adjustments.

So yeah, I don't like most of the changes in this patch. Maybe I'll write up something more detailed later but my impressions from reading the patch notes are highly negative. This game is old and doesn't need very many changes anyway, and it especially doesn't need massive changes like some of the above. I'm sick of having to readjust to new balance changes at this point in the game's life. On the plus side, I'm really glad to see that horrendous Walking Stuka nerf not make it into this patch.
Also, why no new 4v4 maps? Maybe this isn't the thread for it, but wasn't the entire point of this update to address big team game balance? So why is the new content for 2v2, which already has plenty of maps anyway? |
I can't believe nobody has made a thread on this; it has to be one of the most broken things in team games right now. Brits can just endlessly endlessly spam anvil arty on your OKW base buildings through the fog of war, and there is literally zero counter whatsoever because it requires no line of sight. I just had a game where 3 or 4 Brits all went for it and just erased every single of my base buildings doing this.
I'm not one to normally make whine threads, but plz nerf. This is retarded and has been since forever. |
What would you all say tends to make certain maps Axis or Allied favor? From what I gather, large open maps tend to favor Axis and tight quarters urban maps favor allies. Or is there more to it? And when a map is allied favored, is it favored for all Allied factions or just the British? |
I really hope you're running these polls so you can improve the maps and not just reduce the already small map pool. I'd rather play some mediocre maps than shrink the pool.
My votes went slightly different than my list here, but that's purely due to personal taste. For example, there's no fixing the issue I have with Vielsalm or Steppes, which is that superheavy tank destroyers dominate it. There are just going to be certain maps that are open, and those are two of them. The maps I'm about to list have more tangible room for improvement. Again, these are not necessarily the maps I voted for- I'm just offering some critique on maps that obviously need it.
Lorch Assault: I feel the entire southern part of this map is wasted space. One lane means flanking basically can't happen aside the occasional castle infantry flank. Once someone locks down south, good luck taking it back. It's a nightmare. The castle does not lead itself to any kind of interesting play. There's little to no opportunity to use any kind of strategy. It's just a contest of who can spam more CQC troops like shock troops, rangers, and panzergrenadiers. The north is okay. Some people like urban combat with lots of buildings, but I don't. I think that's just a personal taste thing. The middle is the only part of the map I like.
Lanzerath Ambush: I actually like Lanzerath Ambush quite a bit. However, the top has such an advantage on the right side VP it isn't even funny. They have all the cover and the open ground. Trying to assault this position from the south is about as fun as bashing your head against the wall. The top has an easier time defending middle, too. They have a lot more room to maneuver, whereas the south players only have a few roads and that little passageway through the forest right in front of mid-VP.
Lienne Forest: I actually really like the left and middle of Lienne Forest. However, the right side is just cancer. I hate absolutely everything about it. It's not open or close quarters enough to lend itself to fun infantry skirmishes. It's just one lane so tank fights aren't fun on it, either. Whoever takes it first usually keeps it all game, because it's so insanely difficult to dislodge MG, mortar, and emplacement spammers in the right forest. It needs to decide what kind of gameplay it lends itself to, because right now it sucks for both infantry and tank combat. |
It's not even in the custom map list. Why? I can appreciate taking it out of ladder because it's imba af, but it was a fun compstomp map. |
