All right this is a can of worms saying this here but I'm going to go ahead and say it. Changing a games core mechanics to make it E-Sports friendly is not going to make a game and E-Sports success. In fact it hurts the player base and drives people away. The amount of threads I've seen demanding that core mechanics like infantry crushing, rng chances of missing and fun things like demo traps be removed is insane.

Those people who have the belief that E-Sports has to all operate the same. That players don't want to watch those moments are totally deluded. As a content creator I can tell you the things I get the most views for a those moments. People don't care in any way about the boring and dull play and counter play system they want awesome game changing moments. They attract views. They attract people who don't fully understand all the game mechanics but when they see that they clearly know who's winning. RNG missing critical shots makes viewers emotionally attacked cheering for the player who they go for or cursing the heavens if their player gets screwed over.

If you don't like that as a player understand that that's one of the most interesting moments in the game. That's what gets eyeballs. That's what gets viewers attention on you so that they either get involved or donate to tourneys directly or to casters who contribute to tournaments anyway.

In the end changing the game to fit some arbitrary opinion of what an E-Sports game looks like will only harm CoH 2 and ruin what is unique about it. Remember that making Battlefield play more like CoD didn't make it more popular. MAKING CoH 2 resemble Starcraft won't improve it's chances of becoming an E-Sports game.

You know pay to win is defined as "buying content that is behind a pay wall to get an advantage over those who play for free". Now you can expand that to any content behind a pay wallbut then Factions like the UKF OKW and USF would be pay to win hell even the vanilla would be pay to win if you just own UKF/USF/OKW.

You can have a faction be pay to win over another faction unless it intrinsically has an I win button over that faction. You don't by buying these commanders get a great advantage over the OKW. You get weaknesses of your faction covered. This in my opinion is how it should be; Commanders should do one of thre things - give more play styles (what USF and Russian Commanders do) - give crazy levels of fire support (Brits and some Wehrmact) or finally reinforce play style (what OKW and most Wehrmact doctrines do). Now the flexibility that the USF commanders give can throw an enemy off. The inability to predict the playstyle of your opponent is what costs many players dearly hell look at Paul v Burmie R2G1 of the TPI 2 Burmie got out a WC51 and made Paul look like a total amateur. It wasn't pay to win but a good player taking advantage of the versatile play styles that USF commanders can give. The USF is a jack of all trades master of none faction their commanders help them in more ways than most other factions commanders do that's why every one thinks the USF is pay to win while OKW commanders are meh - OKW commanders let the OKW do more of the same while USF commanders actually change the strategy up.

TL;DR: USF isn't pay to win - What you're saying isn't correct by definition. USF commanders are strong because they actually change the play style up while all others merely allow more of the same.

Still, a sad game to watch. Early game clown car wiping a high-value unit and then the million rifleman march with BARs. It was a one-sided affair from there on in.

Those light vehicles at the start can have such a serious impact. Even if they don't get the wipe, they force an early retreat and map control suffers. I wish Relic would soften their armour and slow them down or something.

Yeah, while I'd say that Mechanized Company is the weakest if their assault is stopped early they have massive advantages that if allowed to go unpunished can snowball out of proportion and absolutely wreck OKW hard - Whermact at least has Fausts but OKW can only hope that they can save up enough to get shrecks. It's why I think that they should have Fausts themselves... or at least something to snare light vehicles and prevent clown car Jeeps from driving 1m away from them. That clown car enabled the riflemen to gain veterancy safely and it all went down hill from there.

Honestly I think the WC-51 was put in to act as a soft counter to the Kubel which it did and still does quite nicely. However I have to say that the idea of getting light vehicles 3-5 minutes into the game is perhaps a bit of a mistake.

I'd say the M8 is inferior to the M4A3 Sherman at anti Infantry - it's got potential as anti blob but it's too high risk of getting caught out. In that regard it's anti-blob role is taken by M1919s - CalliOP's - M4 Bulls#!tdozers and White Phos barrage I.E. pretty much everything from every competitive doctrine save perhaps Heavy Cav... but I don't consider it a competitive Doctrine.

Suffice it to say it's not a very good unit. It's worse than all options. I think that I see it often when watching newer players play games and when high tier players are mucking around - but when it comes to tourneys and proper games then no. I never see it in use.
