After a long break due to work and life I'm new video with a fun ending. It's a 2v2 in game with the players in the 500s lots of sub-par plays made but still a good back and forth with some different gameplay. Enjoy!
So I've played a bit more of this strat again and it seems that it is vital to cement an advantage before the 30 minute mark otherwise you start to loose a lot of power. Ostruppen unsurprisingly, don't scale as well as riflemen, infantry sections or even conscripts and really start to become useless as even meat shields and the Artillery and armour starts making support weapon usage a living nightmare.
I've also noticed that the build is very reliant on certain maps, which means any maps that are open and present little choke points can make this strategy difficult to pull off.
The MG42s are especially a difficult thing to keep going against soviets since their mortars and Zis-3/SU-76's can easily decrew you if you're not paying attention.
Overall it's still a solid strategy but requires some careful micro to pull off.
Hey folks, not my usual jam talking about strategies - mainly because when I play I refuse to play to meta. But recently I started playing a build that seems to play well for once actually pushing me up to 340 for Whermact 1v1 before I got bored and started trying a different strategy. It's very similar to the Ostruppen build orders before except with an emphasis on rushing towards Armour and still getting the Infantry Company to get access to fausts.
Now I'm not really the best at typing long detailed build orders with sick images and guides, nor do I want to. So instead I got a recording of the first times I tried this strategy and talked through my though processes as I watched the game.As I mentioned previously it got me pretty high before I got bored and tried to replace the Ostruppen with Assault Grenadiers.... I'm in the 900's now. R.I.P. Hopes and Dreams
Anyway I digress, I'd like to see your opinions on the strat and how high you'd reckon it could go if played by a half decent player, I'm genuinely curious because though it lacks late game it can get you there quickly, especially with the manpower you save and the defensive utility of the HMG42.
(It's part of my Press T to Retreat series because I don't generally like showing of my silly tactics to the world so effort creating a new series.)
Vet riflemans weren't broken at all. With vet 1 they only gained AT-grenade - very needed against those days kubels. Vet 2 or even 3 were pretty rare...
Elite troops worked nicely and weren't broken again. You making you unit vet, but making your Tier progression slower, so while you have entire army of vet-grenadeers - your enemy already making Shermans or T-34-76s. So, it was very nice balanced with high fuel cost of vet-ability.
And soviet industry allowed T-34 spam... is bad? No, seriously? Bro, it is not Panther, it is damn T-34-76. It only can be effective in numbers more than 3. So, that's a real reason, why T-34-76 become so bad right now. Before it was more or less useful with Industry. Without it - there are no way to spam enough T-34-76 for to outnumber your enemies.
So, I guess they should make doctrines back as they were - cool and uniqe.
They were broken, that was the consensus of Relic and top tier players, Period/Fullstop.
On topic though I do agree that the recon abilities are redundant but I don't see that changing any time soon. It doesn't affect balance in any way just like the weak commanders don't so relic pays them no attention. Unfortunate yes, I'd love to see them replaced with more useful abilities but it's definitely not likely.
All in all major Recon is good and most of the time the better option but sadly theyu felt USF needed more air recon so meh. I'd rather it be kept mediocre and not have forum warriors ranting about how a new ability hard counters their blobs and are therefore OP.
I don't really understand what's wrong was with those doctrines. They were really uniqe and provided to you very specific way of playing. That was interesting, unusual... Right now those doctrines are same boring shit, as all others. I liked Elite doctrine, Industry was only doctrine, that could make T-34-76 spam real, Riflemans with veterancy were sweet...
So much good things they ruined for strange purpouse...
They were changed because they were clear no trainers. Vet Riflemen with access to flame throwers while awesome and thematic were broken as hell. Elite Troops led to massive rage as you weren't punished for loosing veteran units late game, Soviet Industry allowed T-34 Spam, enough said. All these things while fun at low level games become infuriating at high level play - especially when money is on the line. So when the push towards E-Sports began then inevitably the broken doctrines had to be reworked. The thing is a bad doctrine doesn't affect E-Sports to much as they're ignored hence no change.
TL;DR: They broke high level play which is the group of players Relic listens to the most, for good and ill.
A new video is live and kicking featuring Semoisky Winter, Brits and Brumbars. Hilarity ensues as Dullahan and Seffenbk1 face down on one of my least favourite maps. Enjoy.
After a long absence in new content (and to be honest any content) I'm back! And to kick it off I've got an interesting 1v1 between Dullahan and Street Bit. IT slowly dawns on me throught the game the very strong combos that occur during that game. Overall a good watch.
Interesting choices, honestly that 222 was a very good option. I think it gave you some much needed mobility and counter harass. I felt that your line was getting very tenuous before that 222 came and completely smashed the game open agian. Overall a massively entertaining game.
Shoutcast for those interested in a dissection of the tactic.
I'd love to see more of these tactic especially that Brumbar since it deals with most early AT so well. At least against Soviet Union. Also those stun grenades combo really well with the MG's and Brumbar but can you give me your mindset into the Stormtroopers? I thought they were inferior to Pzrgens.
Show a replay of a game you would consider typical of your problems with OKW, only then can the USF player community tailor their adivce to help you more than "this is how I play copy me".
Truth is the problem may not be in your build order but your micro or ability use late game or your even doctrinal choice.
